Tried this place for the first time with 4 kiddos and we were very happy. So the menue online is very different than the menue at the restaurant. We ordered the 2 full racks of beef ribs and they were very juicy, tender, and delicious. The sides if coleslaw, and mac n cheese we didn't care for. But the potatoes wedges and garlic mashed potatoes we loved. Waiters were super nice and always refilling our drinks and brining sauces. This was the second time that me and my family went to Back Forty Texas BBQ. We enjoyed the food both times. My mother went with us the first time while she was visiting. She eats a lot of BBQ in Oklahoma and she really enjoyed this food. The second time we e went, we went in a large group for a Birthday party. The food was consistently good across the board. I love this place for their take out. Call ahead and get a juicy brisket sandwich on a soft french roll with a side of beans or mac & cheese for the same price as the 1/4 pound double cheeseburger at California Burger right down the street and waaaaaaaay better.

Back 40 Texas barbecue in Citrus Heights, Is a great place to make dinner a little easier my husband picks up a pound or 2 of ribs, fresh brisket fatty as well as lean brisket. Then brings it home and we either make sandwiches with it or use it as part of our dinner. It's so much easier than having to spend 16 hours mucking a piece of meat. Visited here on a Sunday after church. Split a full rack of ribs with my best friend and the server was kind enough to split the side dishes too, generous portions for both of us. Ribs were pretty good, the sauce on them was tasty and I enjoyed the two sides we had of fried okra and garlic mashed potatoes. The price seemed a bit high, but the service was spot on so it made the pain a bit less. Overall they are a solid 3.5 out of 5 but I will bump them to a 4 because of the service. More...
