My boyfriend and I love going to this place for momo. He actually loves their chicken tikka masala flavor, it's just perfect. ... not too rich like other places. We have tried momos at so many different restaurants but their momo is still one of our favorite. It's so juicy and delicious. Their chicken momo and yellow and red achar( sauce) is our go to dish everytime. More...

Oh yeah! This one is for "Jhol Momo" [dumpling in awesome Achar/Jhol( spicey syrupy sauce) made of sesame, soyabean powder with tomato and cilantro. Buff ( Water Buffalo) momo one of the most populer food as lunch specially in city areas in Nepal and it was rare find in Bay Area however number of Nepali Restaurants including this delicacy 8n their menu since some time. We had some typical food like Veggie Pakora, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, Chowmein - Tibetan version on fried noodles with the choice of your meat. Surprisingly tasty Veggie Momo in broth with vegetables. I have come often for their Indian food @ lunch, but branched out tonight and have discovered a new go-to for a healthy, inexpensive very tasty meal! I ordered medium spicy, and it is a tad too spicy, which slows me down a bit, the flavor and fresh ingredients more than compensate! More...

Excellent authentic taste of Himalayan food, good space and the service was awesome
I just happened to walk by and decided to get a late lunch to go. Super nice young man serving. Crispy, yummy onions in the pakoras. And this soup with velvety beef momos floating amongst fresh veggies is gigantic and delicious. Will bring the family back soon for dinner! (Note - I wrote this more than a year ago and somehow it's still sitting here in my phone un-posted. Posting it now so I can write another one!) More...
Love this place and I regret not trying it any sooner, especially since I live so close by. The food is always fresh and hot and the flavors are just amazing. I like that they give you an option for how spicy you want to get a dish. Must try the saag paneer and ghobi manchurian! More...

These were the best Chicken momos I have ever had...ever. The Naan is superb as well as the chicken tika marsala. We have to try more on the menu but end up cutting down our variety as we always have to get the momos. Those momos really stand out!

Today, I had lunch here with my parents and a year old baby. Momo was so so good . It's wrapper was hand made and filling was juicy and moist. Samosa was biggest size ever and match with chai Tea. Tandoori and naan were tasty too. My baby ate momo, naan bread and tandoori chicken. Overall, I give 5 stars for this place because food taste good with affordable price. My advice to other costumer is instead of take out or pick up go for dine in because the food will taste far more better than packed one. More...
Good food, spotty service. So what Elsevier new in the Bay Area?
One of my best place where there is family enviroment where there is lots of choices for vege people i like naan every thing great service
Delicious food keeps me coming back for more. I always get the veggie momo. They’re so filling and the sauce is very flavorful. The paneer tikka masala is really good too. Even my Nepali boyfriend loves the food here. He usually gets chicken momo or pork chili. I like that the portions are a good size. Basically everything I’ve tried has been great. More...
I am a momo lover. The sause (momo achar) is just awesome. Momos wrapper is bit thick but spicy achar makes it awesome. Thank you for serving authentic nepalese food.
Great location and service, and awesome menu. I really like their food. So much flavour and passion. I would give 5 stars to the chicken curry and 4 stars to the chicken tandoori and thukpa. It was average. I would try this place again. More...

Nice and cozy place. Service was ok. Came for lunch with my husband and ordered beef fried rice and chicken chow mei. Portions were huge (shareable! ). Prices are great ($18 total). But... food could be muuuuch better. Tasteless. For such a cute place, I expected more. But I will still come back and try other options. More...
The food is so flavorful and spicy!! And yet, not too heavy. I ordered the gobi Manchurian, expecting it to be sweet like it is in most places in the Bay Area. . but this was spicy and perfectly balanced, without the sickening sweetness! Just so good. The datshis were great, so was the naan. The dal is simple and flavorful, as was just about everything we ordered. Apparently the place is run by Sherpas, so I've learned that not only can you trust Sherpas to guide you safely through deadly terrain in the world's highest peaks, but they're quite the chefs too. We'll definitely be coming back. More...
Good food good environment the quality and quality for the price is really convenient but now the quality of food has really really degraded

Great locally owned family restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic.
Nepali and Tibetan dishes. I like it! too bad the location isn't as great. it probably could get more busier! Reasonable prices, generous portions, fast service and food was on point.
We pre-ordered food to pick up for a dinner party of 24 people. We had to wait a bit for it to be ready, but I know they wanted it to be hot and ready to serve. We left without the salads and someone called me to let me know, so we could go back to get them. They also labeled everything carefully. Everyone LOVED the food! It was absolutely delicious. The portions are large, especially the samosas. They accommodated my request to put it in containers that made it easy to serve. The food was a huge hit and made the special occasion dinner very special! More...

Nice clean and well-decorated place. Good vegetarian options. We shared paneer tikka (comes with dal and rice), naan, and mango lassi. Dal was very good, naan was made fresh and was excellent. Our total was $16 plus tip for two of us, plus we had some naan and paneer left over to take home. People keep commenting here that the service was lacking but it was ok - do they expect to be waited on hand and foot? Our food arrived on time, we had water, and the waitress was polite. More...

Excellent food, lovely service, generous servingsHighly recommended
Love this place so close to taste of Nepali and Tibetan dishes that I had while I was there.
This is a FANTASTIC place. I have never had to wait to be seated, the food is great, and the prices are very reasonable! Best Naan and Garlic Naan in the East Bay. 10/10 would recommend. :) If you're new to this type of food one of my favorites is the Chicken Tikka Masala. More...
Good service with good quality food and propertions are very satisfying. Highly recommended if you like south asian cuisine.
Five star for food and service.
Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area, regardless of type of food served. Fortunately, their Nepalese/Indian is amazing. Easy to pass by without noticing, since it lies between a string of big public/gov buildings and an auto dealer and right before Potrero (heavy traffic is common, otherwise people speed like crazy to make the light). Luckily, there is a very convenient, always empty, back parking lot/entry on Kearney! The price is stellar compared to similar restaurants on Solano in Albany. (The next closest/best Indian or Nepalese places line that street) Flavor is great. Clean eating area too, I know the area well and was a bit surprised when I first went to Tashi. Honestly, one or two other places within 5 miles may be a bit tastier, but expect to pay about twice as much (yes, seriously), usually not worth it. Easy 5 stars. More...
Great quality and fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Great value and diverse menu. Will be back.
I love this place just for momo..my mom loves chicken chili the best here. They give you huge portions and price is decent.
Really great place, ambiance is nice. Reasonable prices, generous portions, fast service and delicious food =) we'll be back!
We went there for chicken dumplings and it was the best in town. Place is nice and the foods are really tasty. Servers are nice and helpful.
I go here for the chicken Momo, lots of flavor and the spicy sauce that comes with is awesome too. Reminds me kinda like a spicier soup dumpling,All the other classic dishes are good too love their garlic cilantro naan
It is all good. We were there tonight and were glad we had gone. But among many good things, the Gobi Manchurian appetizer was the best. It comes in a big plate - enough for a full meal for one, maybe even two. Complex and interesting flavor - it seems as if it were chicken fritters, but it is vegetarian. I want this recipe! More...
The Gobi Manchurian was a revelation! Five stars for that amazing vegetarian dish! Perfection! The veggie noodle soup -- Gya Thuk (Thukpa) -- was very delicious, and great for a rainy day. The portions were huge, and the price was right. The wait staff were extremely attentive, though a bit inexperienced. Better than having it the other way around.Highly recommended! More...
Love the food here. Chicken masala was bomb and I would recommend to go here for their excellent Indian food.
I really like the momo in this place but other foods are just okay i feel they can do better with the dishes
Very nice welcoming, we had chicken momo and taste very fresh best momo's in Bay Area. He will definitely try some more dishes on upcoming visit.Highly recommended for momo's fan.
Amazing food, generous sized portions and good value for money. This restaurant is located in a nook and is barely noticeable. I've gone past this place several times but never noticed it. But I'm glad I found this hidden gem on yelp! Their samosa chaat is to die for - one of the most authentic chaat dishes I've tried in the US. Will definitely be a regular here More...

Excellent food, lovely service, generous servings. We loved the Dal (lentil soup) and the Baigan Baharta (eggplants baked in clay oven).Highly recommended restaurant!
Chicken tikka masala is my favorite dish to order at Indian restaurants. So I was quite jazzed to try a new place's CTM because it's always a bit different from place to place. Sadly, theirs have no detectable spice/distinct flavoring, and only faintly resembled the CTM that my taste buds were craving. That being said, the staff were super friendly, the other items were very good (momo, naan, chicken vindaloo), although they were out of samosas:( I will be back to try those as it seems they do them well judging from the other reviews. More...
I've been to probably every Indian, Himalayan or Nepalese restaurant in this local area and have to say the flavors of the food here are a notch above. The chicken tikka sauce is somehow better than any other, which I can't explain. The environment is simple, it's not huge on frills and service but I'm definitely a fan and will return. More...
Testy food more than 5 star
Tandoori overcooked, service was slow
Great tasting quality Indian food. Only 4 stars bcuz it has smaller portions than I'm used to from an Indian restaurant.
Awesome place to treat myself. One of the server over there is super cute, polite and nice.
Best momo I ever had.
Best nepalese restaurant serve best momo
excellent food and service. very clean area.
Taste food, price seems ok
Great food and nice staff, but they need more service help. It's a bit slow to receive help although if your a patient person that wants delicious food this place is for you.
I was not expecting such an amazing little spot on the Avenue! The food is flavorful, inexpensive, and the portions are just right. I took my friend who is a picky eater and even he found an amazing Tandoori dish to enjoy. We both got full and had leftovers and even with tip we spent less than 50 bucks for the two of us... will definitely be going again! More...

obsessed with this place. i could eat their veggie momos all day, everyday. also, during a huge storm this past december i ordered for take-out but i arrived to realize they were int he bad power grid, and had no electrcity. they gave me a candle and tea and continued to make my food anyway. :) made for a cozy night, indeed. Went there again with a group. When the 6 of us got there, it was pretty full (large group of about 20), but they easily accommodated us. The salmon curry, chow chow, and garlic naan were outstanding. The portions are large (all of us took some home) and the service was great. More...
My go to place for tiki masala and minced beef pie. I have never had a bad experience here; service or food. But - patience is a must at times when it gets busy either from to go orders or dine in. Also I've made it a habit to bring my own containers when bringing left overs to avoid wasting their oh so yummy curry sauce. More...

Hands down best chicken tikka in the east bay. I tried the channa masala it was on point aswell as the lamb vindaloo which was great. The mixed momos were really good aswell. Cant get that chicken tikka off my mind ! Will be a frequent customer for sure. Service was also great! More...
I ordered the Shogo Khatsa as an appetizer and the Aloo Cauli as the entree. Both have potatoes in them & they are quite tasty. I requested medium spiciness but it could have been spicier. Will visit again & try other veggie dishes. More...
I love this place! I dine out almost twice a week from here. The food is always great, and tastes authentic, like home cooking, made with extra care and love. My first time having Nepali food.It was worth the BART commute all the way from San Francisco. Tastes great, fair price, and ran by nice people = 5 stars.
Went there recently, read the reviews, so I thought I'd try it. It is good! The momos are great. Also had the chicken curry. The medium spicy is spicy, they don't "dumb" the food down for westerners. Other criticisms of the momos maybe by people who have never had nepalese/tibetan momos before. They are supposed to be like this, with heavy thick skins. They are not supposed to be like japanese gyozas or chinese potstickers! This place took me back to when I lived in Kathmandu for 6 months in the early 90's. There was a place called the "Momo Cave". Ah memories. I would recommend this place. Full of Tibetan folks and Nepalis. The decor is very spare and tasteful, a few Tibetan tangkas, the place is small, maybe 8 tables, but nice. Parking on San Pablo is easy. The server was very nice.Sam More...
Excellent Himalayan food; very nice interior decor. Good service. I will return to try some of the many less-well known menu items.
This is our favorite restaurant in the area. We order at least once per week. Fav's are the chicken tikka masala, veggie momo and both naan. I would recommend to anyone- they are spectacular! Service is fast and extremely friendly. Enjoy!!! More...
I give 5 Yelp stars because they have really good food and good prices. $10 for a delicious lamb curry, with rice and dal included! I also love the sag paneer (with rice and lentils) as well as the chicken chili appetizer. We usually just do take out because my boyfriend doesn't care for the dining in experience there. They were a bit slow, but I don't mind that because when I dine in I want to relax and enjoy my company. If I want fast food I'm not gonna go to restaurant! The ambience is ok for a restaurant on San Pablo. Try it out for yourself! More...

Great Food with great service... have not had any better nepali food than at this place..... I come here often and never been let down....
Amazing food! Attentive service!
I don't like this sort of food usually so I'm really really extremely picky. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere even though I had my order to go. Reasonable pricing as well.
Had the Samosas, Chai tea, lamb vindaloo, and pork belly appetizer. Also a side of naan. The dishes come with delicious lentil soup. Flavors are outstanding, service is nice. The place is cute, quaint, & quiet. It is one of the best options for flavorful food in this area.Prices are very reasonable. I'm happy I cam come here instead of making the full trip to Berkeley. We had our anniversary dinner here with our kids, who are 5 and 7. They are reluctant to try anything new, so I bribed them - I feel no shame. They loved everything. We got the Tandoori chicken, samosas, and rice for them and they were delighted. Grownups had said chicken, plus vegetable korma and saag paneer. All wonderful. TBH I was a little disappointed there wasn't chicken korma but I'm not one to quibble. The waitress was lovely and friendly and the other patrons were friendly and it was all-around a lovely way to celebrate. Sorry, I'm usually funnier about these things, but I have zero snarks to give. More...

Came here on a Friday after dropping off my car at the Honda dealer. Had a quick and nice lunch here, the waitresses were always smiling although they worked very slow. I had the chicken tikka masala with garlic Rosemary naan. I wish they would have told me that the dish came with rice so I wouldn't have bought the naan since there was way too much food for me! The chicken tikka masala was a bit too sweet for my taste and the chicken itself was dry but the naan made up for it. More...
I have been to this restaurant twice and both times have had delicious food and excellent customer service! El Cerrito is a little out of the way for me, otherwise I would be here much more often.
Stopped by to give their Momos a shot and wasn't disappointed. The chutney that comes with it was delicious. I did find the wrap to be a little thick but I enjoyed it all. Definitely a nice little spot in little city of El Cerrito. More...
This is a great lunch spot. Our waitress was very nice and recommended some great stuff to order. Thali (sampler platter) wasn't on the menu but it was cheap and tasty! It came with an entree (tikka masala was one of the best I have had). It also came with a lentil soup and some papdam lentil chips and chutney. The best part was the two big slices of naan, this naan is A+ perfect. Crunchy and pillowy, we had to get an order to-go so my girlfriend could try it. 2 thali platters and a to-go order of naan for $20! Will definitely be back and try new stuff More...
I have literally no complaints about this place. I've been here 3 times now and I'm never disappointed the lamb curry is to die for. Kirin has been my server each time and she is very sweet and helpful. All of her suggestions never disappoint. If I could give them more stars I would. More...
Friendly service. The saag paneer is a must try.
I love to go Nepalese restaurant because the food is so delicious and the service is very pleasuring. I would definitely go there again.
YUM. We were a little nervous when Tashi Delek was empty at 6:30pm when we walked in on a weekend but more tables showed up shortly. The restaurant was quiet and modest. We had tofu tikka masala, saag paneer, veggie samosas, garlic naan, and my husband also got a lamb dish. Everything was flavorful and just delicious. The portions are generous and everything was very flavorful. We'll definitely come back! More...
This place is a wish-fulfilling jewel! As a geeked-out California Buddhist guy, I'm a huge fan of Tibetan regional cuisine. My first visit to Tashi Delek was great: The momos were rich and juicy (not rubbery and gristly). The then thuk (hand-pulled noodle soup) was pretty much the best I've ever had. Add a kind and hospitable staff, lovely ambiance, and fast service... it's a win. More...
This place is a total win. Got a free drink while I waited for my pick up. Super nice people and good is amazing.
Best momo zone..I tried their Shyabhale it was so good.Bigger version of Samosa stuffed with spicy meat.Don't forget to try their chicken chowmin.
Intensely delicous, vibrantly fragrant colorful beautiful magical food that will make your heart smile. Amazing fluffy naan and the momos are worth the wait. Great atmosphere, good warm vibes and friendly charm. More...
Great experience and restaurant that just needs a little more room for order modification to be 5 stars!Vegetarian is easy here; vegan is more problematic. As well as I can tell I ordered a milk free Chana masala (chick pea curry). But most items on the menu either contain milk or it's difficult to determine for sure. The selection is small and different from typical Indian fare, no doubt due to the Tibetan/Nepali influence. However, it's a welcome change. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy inside, and parking seems to be easy enough to find nearby. The offer options of spice level on the entrees, so that's a plus! The food was very tasty, the basmati rice was perfectly cooked, and the dal soup to start was excellent. The curry was piping hot and mellow on the spices compared with typical Indian food. For the price, I received a good amount of food that was quite tasty. More...
Great service, great food, reasonable price. Overall an excellent choice for great Tibetan/Nepalese/Indian food.
Lovely small restaurant for Indian/Pakistani fare. The staff is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The garlic naan is the best we've had in this area: baked in a tadoor oven but soft and fluffy, not hard and chewy. The samosas are warm and well seasoned. We've had three of the curries, chicken, lamb and salmon, and they were all tasty and aromatic. The vegetable pakora are generously portioned and a lovely appetizer. The prices are more than reasonable. We'll be back often and have also used their take-out, which was ready when promised and got home hot and yummy. More...
Food is delicious. Try some of everything! I've been here on weekdays, on weekends, with large groups and by myself. Each time the food has been consistently awesome. I've also noticed service has been consistently friendly. Prices are very reasonable and portions are decent. I highly recommend trying things you don't normally try, when looking at the menu. I have yet to order something that wasn't delicious. Also as an added bonus, I've had no to very short wait times, along with great parking. More...
We were here as a group of 8 for dinner. We had made the reservation ahead but there was no one else anyway. We got seated right away. The waiters did an amazing job. They were very enthused about providing good service. The food was excellent too. All the items we ordered were good including samosas, samosa chaat, momos, gya thuk, thain thuk and vegetable tandoori. The vegetable tandoori is served in a sizzling plate here and tastes very good with naan. They also offered us complimentary rice and deal. Ambience is pleasant and personal. It's a pretty small place but could be a nice place for a date night. Overall, a very nice place for dinner. More...
Pleasant surprise north to Berkeley. There are many Tibetan places but this one is authentically warm and delicious. The salas they mixed was delicious. I also had the Bhutan creamed mushroom. Service from the Nepalese boy was great. More...
Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. It's a Indian-Nepalese place that's really tasty and reasonably priced. Since Nepal sits between India and China (so they tell me), it's basically great Indian food with a Chinese influence. The interior is inviting and the service friendly. The portions are large enough that we always walk out with leftovers. Highly recommended. More...
The server there Sagar is awesome and always takes care of us. The momo there is the best momo I have ever ate around the Bay area. Sha Phale is really good so is there sauce. Overall very satisfied with this place and have been going there since the new owner took over. Good making those same momo's. More...
Excellent Indian/ Nepalese food in El Cerrito. We have tried almost everything on the menu and absolutely enjoyed the food. Highly recommend the chicken fried rice, chilli chicken, aloo gobi, mok-thuk and samosa chaat. One of the best somosa chaat's I've tried in Berkeley and El Cerrito. Highly recommend this place. More...
Great food. Definitely recommend all to try momo and chicken chilli.Recently there is change of ownership. The food might have gone better.
Best Tibetan restaurant,, loved the shya bhale and beef momo ,, one of the best ,, went there more then 5 times in a week :)
Very good food, friendly staff. The tikka masala was not as rich as other places but was still good. Saag paneer was very good! Small and cute inside, not too busy. Great prices. More...
Love this place so close to taste of Nepali and Tibetan dishes that I had while I was there. Kind staff, great atmosphere, a must eat!
After a horrible experience at the neighboring Salva Mex restaurant, I decided to try this place out. The customer service was great. The server was exceptional, attentive, and energetic. The food was delicious. I love their Vegetable Tandoori. The price was excellent too. I definitely recommend this restaurant! More...
Perfect escape, awesomely delicious food.. A typical nepali taste. I never finished entire meal anywhere but here i finished it all. Its finger-licking good! Must try.
My dinner was very tasty and the staff was exceptionally nice. Great price for the multi-course meal I was served. So happy to find more interesting food this far north!
Very kind service, excellent food, top 10 naan in the bay.Casual environment, inexpensive food, definitely check out the hand pulled noodle soups and the naan. Definitely get the creamy looking orangish hot sauce...it's got a sneaky kick and definitely works with the momos and the soups. And the naan is excellent! More...
The best Indian food and great service. The salmon was very tender. Perfectly cooked and a great sauce.
We tried this place because the El Salvadorean place next door was closed, but we ended up loving it! We thought this place was so good we would even go to it if it weren't a three block walk from our house. Some of my favorites are the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and samosa chaat. Their naan is also so good! More...
Thursday Alan and I met the Rinkys here for lunch. We would rate it 3 1/2 stars, bumped up to 4 for the excellent company. Rinky ordered the vegetable pakora, which were fresh and totally delicious w/ tamarind and mint sauces for dipping. We were also given papadum w/ the same tamarind sauce. The restaurant offers a daily assortment of thali. On this day there were one w/ eggplant, another vegetable one, chicken tikka masala and something w/ fish. Rinky ordered the eggplant, Mr. Rinky ordered channa masala, the garbanzo bean dish, and Alan and I ordered chicken tikka masala. In addition to the naan that came w/ the lunch Rinky ordered garlic and cilantro (I think) and Alan ordered garlic and rosemary. The thali came w/ dal and a choice of brown or white rice. We all chose brown. Rinky and I requested chai and I ordered raita.I found the chai a little thin and no refills were offered. The dal was similarly thin tasting. The chicken tikka had an oddly tomato colored sauce, but was very tasty and bore no noticeable tomato flavor. The sauce was lovely over the rice, which was also delicious. The raita was nicely tart, the way I like it. The garlic rosemary naan was good dipped in it. The taste I had of Rinky's eggplant was very good, as was the taste of Mr. Rinky's garbanzo beans. The dining room is large and clean, the walls painted in warm, earthy colors. I found a parking spot right in front and there is also a parking lot in back w/ the driveway just to the north of the building that's reserved for the businesses in that building. While we enjoyed the pakora and the chicken and rice, I don't think we would return here when we have Himalayan Tandoori & Curry House on Solano whose food we prefer. More...
We've been wanting to try this place for ages but somehow never got around to it.Despite the recent mixed reviews we met with our friend, LM, for a belated birthday celebration. The three of us were all very happy with our appetizers and lunch entrees. We shared two APPETIZERS which came with a mint and a tamarind dipping sauces.Vegetable Samosas--tasty potato fillingVegetable pakora--very yummy vegetables in a heavy batter but still delivered lots of flavor and crunch.ENTREES --lunches came with dal and riceVegan Mr Rinky ordered CHANNA MASALA, garbanzos seasoned with ginger and garlic. He said it was the BEST Channa Masala he's ever had!I ordered the MISMAS -vegetable curry with tofu. Very satisfying.LM got the Chicken Tikka Masala combo lunch which came with dal, rice, naan, papdam. Thumbs up!We also ordered plain naan and the garlic rosemary naan. Both were perfect breads to go with our meals.I also ordered a chai--which was perfectly spiced. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We were given menus and chilled water. Our orders were taken promptly and our food came out quickly. Our water glasses were kept full.Perhaps the owners took note of the criticisms made on Yelp regarding the food and staff. We definitely will return. We've got to try the momos! More...
It's a 3-star restaurant with some really great qualities, I'm adding a star for the location, since this is the only decent Indian/Nepalese option anywhere close to this part of Richmond. The weirdest thing is that I've eaten here twice and both times we were the only customers, and this place probably deserves more business. They bring a complimentary lentil soup to start, which is okay but I had to add salt to make it worth eating - but it's free so whatever. The rice is overcooked and a bit bland, I tend to love Indian rice. The Tikka Masala is probably the best I've had in quite a while, a lot of depth of flavor, could use another piece of chicken, and the chicken could have been a bit more tender but these are small quibbles. The lamb curry is decent but not amazing. The Naan is quite good, and very fresh and well buttered. The Chai is not free, I really wish I could find a decent free chai Indian restaurant. Overall it's a bit pricey for what you get, but considering other Richmond options it's actually fine. More...
This review is for food only. Take out. They have been open for almost a year, and somehow I never knew about this place. I only ordered garlic and regular naan, samosas, chicken tikka masala. Everything I ordered was mild, yet delicious. Chicken tikka masala was tender, not dry, well seasoned, balanced and flavorful. Garlic naan and regular come in a portion enough for two medium appetites. Samosas were average size, crisp and light on the outside, and filling on the inside. I was excited to eat, and I forgot to take photos. I will try to eat at the restaurant some time, but will try other things on the menu too. I'd recommend giving this place a try. More...
This place is a gem, but you'd never know it by looking at it from the outside. In my experiences, it's always very quite and has a nice calm atmosphere. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, especially the lunch specials. Definitely on par with some of the gourmet Indian places in Berkeley. More...
Beef Momo, Chicken Tika Masala and Garlic Rosemary Naan were some of the best that I ever had. However, Beet Salad was too simple and plain. I would definitely go back to try more dishes. More...
Have always gotten takeout, but I love the momos, palak paneer, tikka masala, naan, and rice. It's just plain solid, and family-own with a very friendly and responsive staff. Love that this place is so close to our house. More...
Had a lovely meal here with my gfs. My favorite was the beef momos with super fresh dumpling skins. Also really loved the veggie curry which was very flavorful and spicy but not oily/creamy! the garlic rosemary naan was great - super thin and chewy on the edges with crispy garlic sprinkled evenly throughout. Check it out for an authentic Himalayan Nepalese meal More...
I have been here three times already and I just keep loving it more and more! The chicken curry is good as well as the creamy spinach and the beef tongue! It's a quaint little place you don't expect from a shabby exterior. I tell you, you must try this! Every time I go there, there are only about three groups of customers dining in or less. I wish they had more business because I want them to stay in business! Perhaps because it's a little hard to find, but I hope people would trust this place more and give it a try because it's the best himalayan/indian/nepalese food out there! More...
So happy to have found this hidden gem right in our neighborhood close to our home! This cute little restaurant serves delicious dishes. The momo is outstanding, so is their naan and tandori chicken. I also love their veggie chow chow; not greasy and veggies are fresh.I've already recommended this restaurant to several people and will definitely be back here soon! More...
I'm so happy to have this lovely little place in my own neighborhood! There are many vegan options and they are delicious. The owner is very nice and I've had an enjoyable experience here. I'll be back very soon. More...
Excellent! We mostly tried their Indian selections, but they were quite good. The rosemary naan is so lovely and aromatic, and pairs well with the tika masala. The lentil soup at the start of the meal is delightful as well. I Willie sure to be back, though I will not be ordering the third dessert option again, as it was quite small and not at all to my taste, being sandy in texture. Very much worth it for the savory food, however, and the chai was pleasant as well. More...
Straight up the greatest food I've had around Berkeley in a long time! If you come, MAKE SURE TO GET THE CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA! It reminded me of my childhood and it was so amazing! Also, naan is key. It's very large and extremely fresh. I would recommend it any day. More...
Excellent tikka massalla! Solid Indian food. They provide rice and lentil for each dish which is a good value. The lentil is not needed though- my sweetie and I always end up not eating it. Wish they delivered!
Great dishes full of flavors. The restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but don't hesitate to get in, you won't be disappointed.
So glad this place opened! I don't know what it is with the the area but we've seen an influx of Nepali food opening everywhere in El Cerrito, Albany and Berkeley. I've only had the vegetarian dishes and they are all very good. I usually order mismas (curry spice medley of veggies) and saag paneer (creamy spinach with cheese). If you like Indian this is a great place for take out or even dining in. Their entrees also come with lentil soup (daal) and rice...regardless of whether you dine in or take out! Great neighborhood spot. Support local business!!! More...
The best curry light tasty and the perfect spice. They now serve a lunch special $8 choice of entree that comes with rice lintel soup, nan and not sure but a crispy light cracker of some sort. The perfect amount of food. The ladies are always nice and sweet here. The decor is beautiful. I like this place I don't know about anyone else. I have been to a couple places now for Indian curry and nothing taste right expect for here. Fresh tasty and filling. I personally do not like the Lamb :( it was very disappointing for my taste. Certain pieces were tuff and some were slightly tender. But the chicken and or salmon curry very delish! my fav :) More...
We moved to El Cerrito last year, and let's face it, with mostly chain restaurants and strip malls, it's not the culinary mecca that some surrounding cities are known for. HOWEVER, Tashi Delek changes all that!! It's the tastiest restaurant we've been to so far, and has become a regular go-to in our rotation of favorite places to eat out in the area. It really stands up to some of the best Indian restaurants we've been to in SF and Berkeley, so we'll for sure keep coming back for more. The Food: Others have already mentioned the outstanding garlic rosemary naan, but that too is one of our favorites. It's light, crispy, buttery and flavorful. Totally addicted and while I can't say I've had all the naan in the world to claim it's the best, I'll say it's my favorite from any restaurant I've been to. Also, we're absolutely addicted to the samosa chaat which is like open face samosas covered in all the delicious sauces. Once we tried that, we never went back to regular samosas. Our regular order for 2 people is samosa chaat as an appetizer, a main vegetarian dish like Aloo Cauli, garlic rosemary naan, brown rice and a couple drinks. The Price: After living in cities for so many years where food is overpriced, this is seriously a steal. I almost feel guilty that our bill is only $25 before tax for dinner for 2. If there's any more deserving business to keep alive, it's this one.The Service: Very friendly. We usually see the same people and there is a super friendly lady we enjoy seeing and who very nicely remembers us. It's a relaxed atmosphere with a local, neighborhoody feel.Long live Tashi Delek! My boyfriend and I are moving to Richmond after 10 years in Oakland, and we found this place during a trip to the new house. All I can say is: WIN!! I'm very picky about my Indian food, and so far, SOOO good! I appreciate that they have Tibetan & Nepalese choices too, because finding this cuisine in the Bay Area is challenging. The samosas are amazing, and the hot sizzling plate of veggies as entree that my boyfriend got (don't remember the name) was covered in a delicious sauce. It was gone in minutes.I had the chicken tikka masala (VERY picky about that dish) and it was the best ever. The dish can never have too much chicken. So of course, I would have liked more chicken, especially for the sauce. I dipped my naan in it until I was absolutely stuffed. It came with a yellow lentil soup that was very good.Others have said this about the naan, but it is truly perfect. We got both the garlic rosemary and the garlic cilantro. I'm forever spoiled...Will definitely come back to try other menu items; I have no doubt they'll be top-notch.Service is fast (considering everything was absolutely fresh) and gracious, professional and friendly. I wanted to get the name of our server - I will next time. The atmosphere is simple, elegant and humble all at the same time. A little oasis in a neighborhood of bland. More...
We loved the Tashi Delek Restaurant food. Tashi Delek means 'auspicious and good health". It was a very auspicious day for us and the food was very healthy food as well. We enjoyed eating at the Tashi Delek Restaurant. If you are hungry, you should go to eat at the Tashi Delek Restaurant. It is very convenient place. Thank you Tashi Delek serving delicious food for the community. We'll come back again. Thank you. More...
A mighty morsel of a momo that packs a wallop in delightful and subtle bursts of flavor, and Tibetan Tea that will have you floating on the ceiling. Vibrant and cheerful atmosphere, both with the service and the décor. Went with a large group of people and everyone was licking their lips and smiling after a marvelous gathering, and tall glasses of mango lasse. A great place to host a gathering, or taking your partner out for a charming evening. Give it a whirl you won't be lead astray. More...
The neighborhood is a little run down, but step inside and this place feels friendly, genuine, and clean. The samosas tasted fresh and wholesome, and the curries were wonderfully seasoned. We've only been a few times, but we'll be back! More...
Good Indian/ Nepali food, i am veg lover and Dal, Palak paneer, naan is simply awesome! didn't liked the Mushroom dish though. Being a Tibetan, my expectations for Tibetan food is pretty high. This place has the best Momo-soup (Mothuk) I've had in a while. Also, Momos are the most well known Tibetan dish and The momos here are a 10.. The owner is super friendly too More...
We love this place. We've dined in and gotten take out and the food is always consistently yummy. Prices are very fair for food this tasty. My favorite is the chicken tikka masala. It is the best I've ever had! It's spiced just right and so flavorful. The tandoori tikka is delicious as well. We've tried the samosas, which were tasty too. The naan is always great. They are very friendly here and the atmosphere is pleasant. The location is convenient, there's always street parking available nearby. We are really glad we gave this place a shot; they are one of our favorite restaurants now! More...
Delicious! The garlic rosemary naan was wonderfully crisp, savory and piping hot. The momos (8 pieces, which can be filled with chicken, lamb, beef or veggie and served with their homemade sauce ) were like dumplings, but with a thicker skin and rounder shape, and packed with unique flavor. The mok thuk, momos in broth, was satisfying with a light broth filled with greens and beef, chicken or veggie momos of your choice. The chicken tikka masala entree, which comes with dal and rice, was good. Service was attentive, interior was clean, no fuss and inviting, and the price was right. Will definitely go back for warm, comforting, and tasty food that's a little out of the norm. More...
We moved up here from Berkeley, so needless to say, I am very picky about good Nepalese/Himalayan, and Indian cuisine. We came by on a Thursday, party of 6, and there was unfortunately no one else dining there. They really deserve more customers!! The server was very cordial, and provided great service throughout the night. We ordered a plate of mix momos, six dishes, garlic and regular naan. All dishes were ordered mild because I am a TOTAL wimp. Seriously, hot cheetos give me nose bleeds. They gave us small bowls of yummy soup to start (yellow, lentils?) that was well seasoned, not too salty.I loved the chicken tikka masala and momos, especially chicken momo! The dumpling skin of the momo was nice and soft, not rubbery like some places make them. Every dish we ordered was flavorful, and not too spicy. Once again, I am a hot spice wimp and felt great about their 'mild'. The naan was some of the BEST I've ever had - light, fluffy. It was definitely freshly made and not once seemed too chewy. We put in six orders for naan, and I guess they're very generous with the portions because it kept coming from the kitchen. It seemed like way more than 6 orders. Aloo cauli, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, aloo baigan, and chicken curry were all very delicious. I forget what our 6th dish was. We are definitely coming here again; this already feels like my local go-to place. More...
One of the most pleasant ethnic restaurants I have been to in a while. We had a bunch of appetizers all of which were very good and one, beef momo was truly exceptional. The lamb tandoori was excellent. In fact only the garlic naan was average. service was really friendly. I highly recommend this new restaurant and hope it succeeds! More...
Loved the atmosphere and the friendly service. The food was delicious. Even the menu and bill covers are Tibetan cloth giving the place a warm feel. We started with Samosas which were huge, crispy potato filled treats served with a well spiced mint chutney. Our main courses were the spinach and cheese curry and the eggplant and potato curry. The entrees are served with lentil soup and rice. All of the menu items sounded tasty so it was hard to choose. We were very satisfied with our choices. We also had plain naan that came out from the Tandoor puffy and crisp with a bit of butter. We were so full that we took lots of leftovers with us to enjoy another day. Looking forward to returning and trying some of the other menu items. More...
Mix Momo, chicken tikka masala are good!
How is this place not packed yet? El Cerrito is soo lucky to have this restaurant. Try the Sha bhalay, the tibetan steam buns, and the chicken chilli. Delicious.
Very very tasty! I had the veg momos and my wife had the motuk. Relaxed, clean and peaceful inside.
I did not have high hopes for this place, given the location and outside decor but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Sha Bahaley- sort of like an empanada. Very good! It was fried just enough that it wasn't too greasy and the inside had very good minced beef. Yum!My chicken tikka masala was great! I got it mild and it was just right. I really liked the sauce. It was creamy and tasted more tomato based than I was used to and I really liked it! 5 stars. The best part was the naan. Comes freshly baked and doesn't taste like it was microwaved like many Indian places when it gets harder the longer you wait to eat it.For dessert, the Kulfi ice cream was so great! Very nice presentation. Comes in bite size cubes and tasted great.Inside decor and ambiance is cute and quaint. Very good service, waiters and owners are friendly and very accommodating. Will come back. More...
It's nice to have a Himalayan place in the area. They are green in the service department but their food is well worth it. At first there were some teenagers on duty but then the "main" server showed up. She mentioned that she was from Nepal but grew up in Bhutan. It was very warm and cozy with nice music playing, perfect for a rainy afternoon. They have a Bhutan/Nepal/Tibet flavor. We are mostly vegetarian and found that there were many options. The samosas are tasty, very mild though. The mint chutney was not spicy. We had a lovely beet and cheese spinach salad that could have used another beet but was delicious. It was also under salted, which is great in my book. We had a Bhutanese dish with mushrooms and peppers that was very spicy but not painfully so. Their naan is hearty with a bit of a butter glaze, fluffier than Indian-style. We did not have room for dessert, which sucked because they all looked delicious. I will definitely come back. We should give them some business so that they stay busy and thrive! More...
Great food and great prices for fans of Himalayan cuisine. Newly remodeled interior makes a warm ambiance.
We tried it tonight for the first time (tipped off by Yelpers I follow!) - really good. The dal was perhaps the best, but the chana masala and eggplant-potato dish were also very tasty. Two entrees, samosa appetizer, and naan came to $25 before tip. We will definitely be back! More...
My friend and I visited this new friendly restaurant last night to try out some Tibetan dishes and we joked with the owner that we could bring our wives next time. We tried their MoMos, Sha baklep, Shaptak, Tingmo and Pakoras. All the dishes were made right and presented in a clean and appropriate manner. The lady owner and her staff were very friendly and courteous. This place is closed on Mondays More...
Plain food done exquisitly, chez Panisse used this formula with nouveau cuisine and now Tashi Delek do this with Indian/Nepalese/Tibetan food. I have a lot still to explore on their menu, I've tried their curried lamb and tandoori chicken, I can't wait to go back.Oh, I forgot to mention, they're super nice. More...
A lovely little place--warm, inviting, tasteful decor, cloth napkins and tablecloths. Plus, the food was delicious! We were sharing, but it was hard to stop eating the yummy dal soup. Everything was very fresh-tasting. The samosas were hot and crispy with an interesting minty sauce, the naan was the light flaky kind, with a thin crispy shell, and the eggplant baigan was spiced just right. The tandoori vegetables had maybe too much bell pepper and onion but that's just because we can't eat them--otherwise it was great. Next time we will just request less bell pepper, because we will definitely be back. More...
The food was good: rich flavors, tasted fresh, nourishing. The samosa chat was the standout dish.Friendly, helpful service. The waitress comped one of our dishes because it was too spicy for our wimpy American tongues--there was nothing wrong with it, just intense, so the comping was unexpected. The atmosphere is really nice, and it's actually WARM in the dining room, unlike most restaurants in this neighborhood. It was also easy to park on the street right outside.Overall, enjoyed the experience! Really happy to have a Tibetan/Nepalese/Indian restaurant in this location! We plan to come again. More...
Charming, cozy, home-spun, exotic -- and fresh and delicious. Great combination. All curries good, tandooris outright fabulous, Tibetan tea exhilaratingly weird.
