Arika has done an amazing job taking photos twice a year at my son's daycare -- we were so happy with the resulting photos that we asked her to do a family session for us on the beach last fall. She was very organized with the arrangements in advance, patient with us as we tried to determine the best location for the shoot and during the shoot, and produced a set of gorgeous images that we cherish. I have had numerous photo sessions with Erica at my home daycare in Carmel Valley where she comes and takes pictures of all the kids - getting great candid shots. She is fun, chats with the kids and makes them relaxed so that they forget she is taking pictures of them. The parents and I all enjoy seeing such nice pictures of the children!
I have also had a family session with her and already have my next family session booked. My sons, aged 2 and 5 at the time, loved running around on the beach, running in the water and getting covered in sand. The resulting pictures were lots of happy faces! I was introduced to Arika's photography when she started doing twice annual sessions at my son's daycare. She captured him in some great candid shots (as well as all of the other busy little kids at the daycare! ) and I liked her work a lot, so I requested a family beach shoot. She was very accommodating and organized as we decided on a location and prepared for the shoot, and it was a lot of fun working with her. Arika is awesome!  Instead of studio photos, I like to do family photos with a photographer once a year.  I'd heard about Arika from some other people who loved her, and so I decided to give her a try.  She is very thoughtful and thorough.  She sent us a questionnaire before the session to find out what it was we wanted from the session.  I asked for natural and fun pictures of the kids and some of the whole family, since we never seem to get any with all of us together.  And I wasn't disappointed!  She captured some wonderful pictures of my children, with all their different expressions.  Friends who saw our pictures raved about them.  I used her pictures for our holiday cards, and I was tickled to find the card still displayed in the home of a family friend, 9 months later!  :)  Arika works hard to please her customers, and we are glad she'll be staying in San Diego, so she can continue to take pictures of our family through the years.Her newborn session is wonderful as a baby shower gift!  It's totally worth the money to have these fleeting moments of your children captured in pictures. I love beautiful photography therefore, I love Photography by Arika Reed.I knew I wanted to finally take some professional photos of myself but was nervous to do so. I heard she was good at taking family photos so I decided to give her a try.  I spoke with her about a possible beach location.  She suggested some locations and the result was a beautiful collection of photos I will cherish forever.  Because of these amazing photos, I purchased a gift certificate for my sister to take with her partner and children.  I am happy I made that decision.  I attended the photo shoot and she was amazing with my niece and nephew.  They quickly felt comfortable around her and smiled throughout majority of the photos (until the toddler started to get tired). I'm waiting excitedly to see those photos!She is creative. She is friendly. She is flexible. She knows how to take pictures. I give her 5 stars without reservation.  Oh, and she also gives you a CD with your best photos.  This is great because you can order through her lab or order your photos individually.  Try her out! Arika recently photographed my family. We had our session at Spanish Village in Balboa Park, a gorgeous, colorful backdrop. Arika asked ahead of time what our goals were for the session. I told her that I wanted to capture the close relationship between my ( 21 month old) twins. It was a lot to ask, but she did it. Now, we have a beautiful set of photos that will mean even more to us in the years to come.You should hire Arika because she takes AMAZING photographs, she's really professional, she's great at engaging kids, and she's super nice and easy to work with.
