What a great local restaurant! We are from NM and looking for something that was true Green Bay. I had the spinach salad and it was to die for, everyone else in the group had sandwiches and really enjoyed them. We even got a sausage muffin just to try it. I may have to come back just for that. They do need to work on their iced tea. More...
I love the simple menu here for lunch: salad, soups and sandwiches. The country salad is my favorite item on the menu. Chicken, figs, cheese and sliced apples with a white vinegar dressing. There is also a bakery that has the best sausage bread. The sweets have been a bit hit or miss. The atmosphere is a cafe. The servers have always been a bit slow and don't seem to know the menu. The smoked turkey sandwich is my fav.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food offered here. The flavors are pretty solid and the overall experience was nice. Recommended for lunch.
Hard not to love this place! Roast beef sandwich is amazing, garlic aioli and some of the best roast beef Ive ever had! I have been trying something new every time I go and its all been fresh and delicious. I need to mention the veggie dip too, I would dip a flip flop in this stuff! If you haven’t been here do yourself a favor and stop in!! More...
Attended the Packer game and found this gem next to the Comfort Inn.We stopped for lunch and breakfast. Clam Chowder was full of clams, veggies, and potatoes. The grab and go breakfast sandwiches are full of eggs, meat (sausage, ham, bacon), cheese and enclosed in a delicious bread. I ordered the flavored maple coffee and a cinnamon roll. It was a very happy 3 hour drive home. All of the food we ate was delicious. The waitress had been at work since 3 am but was so friendly and helpful. You have to stop here if you are in Green Bay. The food is delicious! Really nice atmosphere.
I loved their oatmeal, the staff was great and the owners could not have been more friendly! They let me custom order oatmeal which I greatly appreciated!
Good food. Can get busy at lunch and difficult to find a table.
Very friendly and good food and coffee

Fabulous salads and sandwiches!
Nice place for a sandwich or salad and a pretty good cup of coffee. Reminds me a lot of some more upscale chain restaurants serving similar fare. Ingredients are obviously high quality and service was prompt and courteous. We'll be back! More...
A good find on a visit to Green Bay! Great food and friendly service and atmosphere.
Fire food !!!!! Good coffee toooo!
The food here is so fresh and delicious, and the latte was perfect! The standout was their roasted veggie sandwich on focaccia. OMG, incredibly tasty. Wish I was in GB more often, but I will definitely make a point of returning when I get the chance. More...
Nice place to stop for lunch between Chicago and the UP. Very friendly service.
Ham and cheese sandwich is a winner.
AKA, NBBA, for those in the know. I have lived and/or worked in Green Bay for seven years, and in those seven years, I have never been disappointed by NBBA. Their seasonally-decorated sugar cookies are phenomenal for baby/bridal showers or sucking up to your co-workers. Coffee/lattes = always outstanding. Sausage bread ::heavy breathing:: They carry take-and-reheat/bake frozen soups and entrees (lobster bisque or lasagna, anyone). Currently crunching on a cherry danish (perfectly balanced ratio of sour cherries to sugar to cream cheese filling) paired with a caramel latte (perfect temperature, perfect ratio of espresso/milk/shot of caramel). I haven't had many of their sandwiches or salads only because the ones I have tried are so good that I return to those again and again. Basque Country Salad & the Asian Salmon Salad are my tried and trues. My only advice for a yelp-er is to either call in an order ahead of time or don't expect to get food like a half hour before they close, since they shut down their oven at that time. More...
Good food. They should invest in a screen that displays numbers so some woman isnt screeching numbers throughout the entire place every 5 minutes.
I stopped in because I know they have great cheesecake. Not a lot of choices, so I chose a piece of cake. It looked amazing and tasted okay; not as good as I anticipated. It was good, but not great. Next time I will stick with cheesecake! The only choice was turtle, which I like, but I was hoping for something different. More...
Great atmosphere, tasty entrees, very nice staff. Paul and Jen are doing a great job
I was at the Botanical Garden for the "Simply Elton" show, I wanted a salad and saw your stand there and I got the Spinach Salad. I mean, I know its just a salad but it was AMAZING, so filling. The salad dressing was so so good, there was such a good amount of chicken and cranberries and walnuts and the cheese, yummy! I even shared half of it with my Co-worker. I've been craving another for the past two days :) and We've also been telling our patients here at Ashwaubenon Chiropractic how good it was and they need to check out Not By Bread Alone. Thank You!! Cant wait to come in and check out the lunch menu! More...
Great food friendly staff
Very good sandwiches. Everything is fresh.
Awesome place for lunch. Always good.
So my nephew and I were in GB to check out Lambeau Stadium. Around 3PM, we left and decided to look for a local place for lunch before taking the nearly four hour trip back home. Down the road we went from Lambeau and all we saw were chain restaurants. We arrive at an intersection and I see this place quite aways down. Never heard of it before and figured if it was a chain, at least it would be one I had never tried. Asked if it was.... NOPE - a local spot! Outstanding. And pretty doggone good too! Had a spicy Italian Sandwich which was turkey, pepperoni and some slightly tangy peppers... really good and pretty unique as well. Nephew had a meatloaf sandwich that he really enjoyed. I also ordered some Chicken Chili Soup.... which had a pile of flavor. Three people, around college age working the shop when we were there between lunch and dinner - the place wasn't very busy at all yet all three of them were working hard at transitioning toward dinnertime offerings. Really pleasant and cheerful service too!Kinda bummed they're not near where I live - somewhat unique offerings on their menu, good food, high spirited service. Refreshingly awesome! So glad we found this place. More...
We found this cafe on Yelp and will definitely be back. We are not from the area but will go out of our way to return in the future. We shared a smoked shaved turkey sandwich and the Basque Country Salad, and ordered a lemon bars to go. Everything was fresh, had fantastic flavor and we thoroughly enjoyed it while eating outside. Thank you! We'll be back! More...

Great food, and you'll probably end up leaving with a cookie!
I dont think Ive ever received a better experience in my life.. if I'm being honest. I order here very frequently to go. Im a little particular about what I do and don't want on my salads and they always nail it on the head. Today I did run into a bump when the salad wasnt what I wanted. I called expecting me to have to go pick the new one up (not a huge deal), but then she offered to bring me the new one. I wrapped up the old one and she brought my new salad in 10 mins with a smile. In the past with other companies the people are sort of nice and sort of judgey... I get it. but this time, I was greeted with a smile and she said "oh no you keep the other one and pass it on to someone else. Im just glad you have something you will actually enjoy :)" I couldnt believe how kind she was and how accommodating they were to me. I love you guys! TAKE ALL MY MONEY. More...

OMG....never had bread like this, It was so freakin good

Absolutely love the fresh bread and hot sandwiches. The ham and apples and turkey Italian are my favorites.
I stopped in Not By Bread Alone for a quick breakfast while exploring the city on a weekday morning. I was greeted by a super-friendly staff and enticing aromas from the numerous baked goods. I settled upon three items to take with me: a sausage muffin (warmed to have with the coffee I had in the car), a bread pudding muffin (for later) and a loaf of sourdough bread. While waiting on the sausage muffin to be warmed, I was asked if I wanted my load of bread sliced or not. The sausage muffin was unlike anything I had ever tasted before. With a pastry crust which reminded me of a biscuit, I bit into the biscuit and was enticed by a wonderful combination of pastry and sausage. The proportions were perfect--there was enough sausage for every bite of the muffin. A perfect start to a chilly morning in Green Bay.As I completed errands that morning, I paused and had the bread pudding muffin as a pick-me-up snack. I wasn't sure what to expect from abread pudding muffin, but it tasted like the homemade bread puddings I've had in the past. A wonderful treat to get me through until lunch. The sourdough bread reminded me of the bread I fell in love with during a visit to San Francisco many years ago. It tastes great out of the bag or toasted to accompany breakfast at home. I will definitely plan a return visit to Not By Bread Alone whenever I am able!!! More...
I love this place so much. I've only ever had one type of salad here (Basque Country Salad) and it's perfect. I think I've ordered it 50 times. Everything else looks good, too. I'll get around to trying other things soon! Highly recommend! More...

What a great place to eat! Thanks to Yelpers who have left fantastic reviews of this place we found a magnificent place to eat lunch. The food here is super delicious! When you start reading the menu and see what they put in these sandwiches you will want one of everything. We settled on the Ham & Cheese and the Tuna MeltThe Ham & Cheese comes with Gouda cheese, ham, apple butter, sliced apples, and a hint of grainy mustard on honey wheat toast.Wow!! I could have eaten two of these they were so good. The Tuna Melt was on 5 seed grain bread with tuna salad, Swiss cheese and a tomato. This was also a good sandwich but not over the top like the ham & cheese was.Check in bonus- we each got a free short bread cookie. Very tasty and very buttery. They have lots of choices both hot and cold, the display case has lots of goodies and pasta salads to choose from. There was also a special coffee station in the dining area. The price of the food is perfect, the staff was very helpful and courteous. What a great find, and if in the area, we will definitely be stopping in for a meal or two. Excellent salads (I had the Basque Salad, my husband had the Tuscan Salad) and bread. Definitely worth the trip.
This was a great find courtesy of my fellow Yelpers. I love being able to find great food while traveling! This is a local shop that reminds me of a Panera, with sandwiches, pastries, cookies, etc. But these sandwiches were so good! The ham & cheese had great flavor with Gouda, apple butter and apples on it. So fresh. So good. Unconventional, and I love it! The tuna melt was pretty standard: tuna salad, cheese, tomato, but it also had a great flavor. I have to say I would stick with the ham and cheese if I went back. More...

Never expected to find this oasis in a desert of chain restaurants. Soups made from scratch. Fresh salads with house-made dressings. Decor is so polished, I never would have thought this was a family-owned business. Ingredients are fresh and there's a surprisingly large number of items on the menu. You can eat in or take out.Highly recommend this. It's close to the airport and I wanted to grab a quick meal before my flight. To think I almost settled for one of the fast food factories that populate this area. Now I'll look forward to my next trip to Green Bay. More...
The cakes from this place area amazing. My favorite is the carrot cake, so flavorful. Their savory breads are also fantastic. We have all kinds of bread and coffee and tea
I've waited to review Not By Bread Alone. Their location is really close to me and I frequent them. They have been adjusting to new ownership and have improved the familiar brand. They run wild with catering which means they may not have everything left at the end of the day. So if you visit do it earlier to get the best selection. They have a location off Hansen that makes them a bit more than just a hop off the highway. If you are looking for catering consider Not By Bread. They rank highly with service, fresh ingredients, creative offerings and holiday service. We have gone to them for Christmas, Easter and special holiday events. They take care to make certain the food is proportioned right, fresh and ready on time for any event you might have. The prices are fair, they can serve to virtually any budget. If you find yourself in front of their deli struck by all the choices, consider the cranberry egg salad, it will leave you thinking about unicorns and wizards it's that fantastic. It will not surprise me when they continue with amazing new food items. They need to offer a potato salad to the dine in crowd, maybe replace one of the free water jugs with a Not By Bread Alone punch. Oneida Street has little to offer that can compete. Not By Bread remains one of my favorites in Green Bay. More...
I love Not By Bread Alone, started buying things from them at the farmer's market and then had lunch in the restaurant today. They have a great variety of salads, sandwiches, and pasta salads. Nice cozy place & nice customer service as well. I had the Kale & Quinoua Salad, it was good although i thought that price is a little expenisve for the portion you get. Just had the albacore tuna sandwich. I was truly surprised had great it is. Thank you for wonderful lunch!
It's hard to eat healthy on vacation, but I am SO glad that we stopped in for a delicious, healthful lunch at Not By Bread Alone. My family & I were pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a bakery tucked in a strip mall near our hotel. I ordered the cheesy artichoke wrap with a side of veggies. My husband opted for the bacon turkey wrap. We also got a cup of chicken tortellini soup and a cup of fennel tomato soup for each of our boys. The soups were delicious. I was especially impressed by the tomato fennel soup, which had just the right balance of each of the two namesake flavors. My one year old was less than impressed, but he happily ate half of my cheesy, mushroomy artichokey wrap (which I reluctantly shared because it was SO tasty). NBBA knows their flavor combinations like the back of their hand...like it's their job. Everything was seasoned to perfection, even their lemonade. Although our time here is short, we are already talking about trying to come back to try out their famous sausage bread and their famous cherry bread & our bellies can't wait! More...

This is an AMAZING little bakery! The Sausage Bread is AMAZING! And they have fresh stuffed bread you can buy! It is always FRESH! If you order a sandwich, it is made right in front of you, and you can customize it to whatever you would like. In addition, as it is a bakery, the crater cupcakes are a MUST if you are in town! It is their BEST cupcake, and it is just to DIE FOR! So you must try it! However, literally everything in their bakery case is amazing, and I would recommend it all. Lastly, their hummus is also SUPER great! I love that you can come here, and they have extremely healthy options! Their smoothie is all fresh fruit- and is so delicious. In addition, there is an option to get vegetables and fresh hummus as a side instead of the chips etc. that you normally see. I appreciate the healthy options that are available! More...

This rated well on breakfast restaurants and didn't disappoint. I really just came in for a breakfast sandwich on the was to the airport. I wound up getting 2 cookies, several bars and brownies and a sausage muffin, plus a coffee. I planned to eat the sausage muffin on the way even though they have nice seating. I never made it out of the parking lot with the muffin. I actually said "OMG!" aloud. The pastry was so soft, the sausage nicely spicy-I almost ran in and got more. I got a free cookie for spending more than $5 on a Yelp special. Any time I stop by Green Bay, I'll return! More...

This is a little gem in Green Bay. My family and I love swinging by here on our way out of town and grabbing a sausage muffin or egg, ham, and cheese muffin warmed up to go. Best to go breakfast or perfect to pick them up and take home for company. Serve with a side of fruit and you are done! I also love their chicken salad. It is not sweet which is great for me because I don't love chicken salad with grapes which seems to be popular a lot of places. The catering is phenomenal here as well...both desserts and main courses. They have done several weddings my husband and I have photographed and it is always amazing and creative. More...

I had to get dropped off for my dress fitting at Elaine's before they open, so I decided to stop here assuming they'd have better coffee than the nearby Applebee's and Kwik Trip. I was right!! Their latte's are so good!! And their salad selection sounded so amazing I had to have an early lunch too. I'm glad I did! The Kale & Quinoa salad with mint vinegarette dressing might sound strange at first, but wow it was good! Can't wait to come back and try another! More...

People can't stop telling us how glorious the food was. And they just loved the staff. On several occasions throughout our night, people came up to tell me how awesome Leslie was! I agree!
NBBA worked with us to create just what we wanted! The variety of food and drink was amazing. The presentation was beautiful! And the ease of booking and day-of set up and take down was unbelievable. Words can't express how grateful we are for what NBBA provided. They truly exceeded all of our expectations. More...

Halfway between the upper Peninsula and Milwaukee, we stopped for a midmorning breakfast. After commiserating with the staff over the difficulty in finding pastrami and finding that while the owner was a pastrami fan, it just hadn't been able to maintain its position on the menu and have been recently removed. It was, however, adequately replaced with a vegetarian sandwich offering centered around portobello mushrooms. This, combined with the choice of three soups that they were kind enough to warm up at that comparatively early hour, made for a very sufficient brunch. My dining companion tucked into a frittata, preserving the breakfast character of the meal. And, of course, we took along a few loaves of bread for gifts and "for later". More...
Keep me away from this place because I will eat ALL of the meat bread they have. Our work would bring it in all the time and you'd have to beat people with a stick to get a slice.
Enjoyed the grilled cheese with bacon and the vegetable sandwich on two separate trips during my visit to Green Bay. Have the veggie hot and you won't be sorry. Both choices were fantastic. Great menu selection and service to boot. The place to go for a quick lunch. More...
A nice selection of sandwiches,, soups, cookies, breads, etc. I've never had a bad meal here, a bit pricey, but better than fast food!
Solid local lunchtime stop - probably more like a 3.5 star place for me, but I'm bumping it up to show my love for the local scene in the GB and cause they had some veggie options. Kind of a mom and pop shop feel. I was there today with a group of 8 and it took quite a while for all of us to get our lunches. The lunch menu has salads, sandwiches, soup, cookies, and bread I guess - although I didn't see any loafs for sale.Definitely a better choice than one of those chain restaurants if you are in the area. Trying to find a caterer for my wedding in Green Bay was not an easy task. First of all, I live in Phoenix and was planning the wedding long-distance. I knew we wanted a classy, picnic-style reception, but the only caterers I could find online offered the standard Wisconsin fare: family-style chicken, tips, etc. Delicious, yes, but not what I was looking for. When all of a sudden....Not by Bread Alone rises from the internet search abyss. Their website looked promising and I decided to set up a meeting there when I visited Wisconsin. When I met with the owner [Leslie, i think her name was], she was extremely nice and accommodating. She made the whole process completely painless. When we changed our order and added a bunch of pies, she didn't even blink. On the wedding day, everything arrived as ordered and dinner went off without a hitch. People RAVED about the food, especially as it wasn't your standard wedding fare. Since that day, I have gotten countless comments and compliments about how outstanding the food was at our wedding. Can't wait to stop in for lunch the next time I'm in Green Bay. More...
