Wow! Some of the best Italian food in Eugene! Had the best service when we went here during Christmas vacation when a number of other places were closed. They were able to deal with our party of 7 with only a few minutes notice and did a great job taking care of us. Picked up on my daughters bday even though I only mentioned it once. Great service! Our experience here was wonderful. The host found us a nice quiet table by the fire, although we didnt have a reservation on a Friday night. The waitress suggested our wines, which were perfect. The appetizer was stuffed mushrooms in a cheese alfredo that was incredible, and I usually hate mushrooms. My dish was chicken picata with capers alongside pasta and fresh veggies. His dish was chicken parmesan. I give the food four and a half stars, only because it was stellar but the broccoli was cooked to death. Weird but true. The ambiance was charming, as well. I'm fairly certain the owner has been to Italy quite often and now wanders around the room, checking on patrons and their meals. Five stars, because the experience overall was that good. More...

I 've been inclined to write a review when displeased enough...but this time, it was different. I'm writing to praise Mazzi's for good food, large portions, pleasant (if overworked) wait staff, and most of all. ..the PANNECOTTA DESSERT ! Wonderful food! Great portions. They were pretty busy so it was a bit of a wait, but to give them credit, we did order 5 calzones which take a while anyway. Our waitress was super friendly.

The first time I have eaten here, everything was fantastic and the it is a privately owned restaurant, the owner stopped by our table and was fantastic to hear his story, opened the business when he was 22 years old!

Excellent food served here but not necessarily worth the wait. Took at least 45 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Waitress was not very attentive to say the least . Yes I am a duck alum and when back in Eugene I find my way back to one of my favorites - Mazzi's. Â I enjoy the traditional Calzone and in my opinion, the blue cheese dressing is to die for - either for the salad and/or dipping of the bread. Â On my last trip, while waiting for an order to go at the bar, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Frank. Â He was engaging with his customers and shared stories of the Mazzi history. I love Mazzi's. I was born in 1971, same year as this illustrious restaurant. I have very early memories of the early years, the dark, 70's stained glass windows, weird metal lights, fireplace in the middle. Thankfully very little has changed. It's brighter in there, but the food is very much The same. The bread is still amazing, salad with house dressing and minestrone are legendary in my family. Pastas and calzone are filling, delicious. The flavors from my childhood are still here. They have their own gardens for herbs, produce. The service here has consistently been high quality, professional, attentive. Portions are generous. When you want quality, tasty, ample food, come here. Skip the Olive Garden and treat yourselves to this! More...
