I don’t really enjoy exercise and really need to be accountable to someone every week to ensure I do it. So, 4 years ago through a recommendation from a friend, I began my health and fitness journey with Lift and Live Fitness. I have trained with both Larah and Brenda and have only the most wonderful things to say about both of them. As co-owner, Larah is invested in her clients and her passion for health and fitness is infectious. In training sessions with her she always challenged me more than I would challenge myself. She educated me on weight lifting and adjusted our workouts based on what areas I wanted to improve. I worked out with her through my first pregnancy and she was a wealth of knowledge and helped me stay fit. For the past 2+ years I have trained once a week exclusively with Brenda and have made tremendous progress with her and love training with her! I have actually started to enjoy weight lifting, thanks to her simple yet effective workouts, and have learned so much from her that I actually can replicate her workouts at my work gym. She trained me through my 2nd pregnancy and once I returned and finally got serious about my nutrition, she has helped me lose over 15 pounds and have started to transform my body. I still have a lot of work to do to get to my goal, but I am stronger, leaner, and for the first time in a long time, I don’t hate what I see in the mirror. Also, this wouldn’t be a complete post if I didn’t mention that due to my success and commitment to Lift and Live Fitness, my husband started to train with Lou a few years ago and really enjoys his weekly sessions too. L&L has given me hope again; hope that I can get back into shape and feel better not only physically, but mentally as well. I’ve been training with Brenda for over 8 months and am so grateful for her expertise and understanding. Being in my early 50’s I have a few physical limitations; i.e., ACL reconstruction, neck and low back issues, so initially I was concerned that I would be pushed too hard and potentially cause more problems. Brenda is great! She does push me, and she has learned when my whining is just me being lazy, versus me having pain. The best thing is she doesn’t just bypass those types of exercises and works to find other ways to work the same muscles without causing pain. In 8 months I have seen great improvement in myself and believe that Brenda is primarily responsible for that…I know it was me too, but I don’t think I would have stuck with it if I was pushed too hard. My relationship with Brenda has grown more than her being my trainer and I consider her a good friend. More...

After knee surgery and 5 months of physical therapy, I began training with Brenda to further strengthen and stabilize my knee. Brenda has been very thoughtful in developing a training program that slowly but steadily improves my strength, stability, and balance, without risking further injury to my knee. After 10 months with Brenda, I am amazed at the progress I've made not only with my knee, but in my overall fitness. Brenda takes the time to answer all my questions and makes sure I am comfortable with the program she's developed. She'll makes changes as needed to ensure I'm completely confident in what I'm doing. Most importantly, she makes training enjoyable. I always look forward to my sessions with Brenda. Her knowledge of exercise science and nutrition, and her passion for what she does make her an invaluable asset to Lift and Live. More...

My journey with Lift & Live started about 2.5yrs ago and I personally feel it is the best investment I’ve made for MYSELF. I’ve been training with Brenda ever since and she is the best fitness instructor, nutritionist and mentor. Right from the start, she was able to design a personalized fitness plan based on my goals and sustainability. She has helped me create a sustainable, healthy and fit lifestyle and continues to help me become stronger physically and mentally. She has a quiet, calm personality and listens to your needs and continues to challenge you with her workouts. I will proudly say that I have not missed a single session at Lift & Live unless for family vacations or personal reasons and she deserves all due credit for that.Larah and Lou are also wonderful people who continue to inspire me and have always given me a family-like feel with their cordiality and warmth. Six weeks ago, I was in a workout rut. My normally active workout routine fell short and then completely disappeared over the Holidays. I needed motivation; something new to get me back on track. Lift and Live Fitness was the answer. Their new 6-week fitness challenge not only motivated me, it also expanded upon what I already thought I knew about fitness, testing my limits in every class! Larah and her team create a warm, welcoming environment where every fitness level is respected, and every success is celebrated. I'm open to change and I like calling the shots, so when a Group Training was offered to me, I wasn't too sure I wanted to go from private training to group. But, I stepped out of my comfort zone and jumped into one of the best "perfect-sized" small group training's that I looked forward to every single time! Lead by Larah, who was so prepared and so wanting the best for us, it was a win-win. Each week themed; each week targeting something new and every week focused on our overall mind and body. Loved this experience so much and am thankful for the changes it delivered for me. More lean muscle, stronger abs, weight loss and the practice of taking time for calm each day. Lou has been training me for about 8 months. I have no hesitation giving Lou, Larah and Lift and Live the full five stars! Lou's knowledge, attitude and skills as a trainer and coach are excellent. Our focus has been to increase my strength and also to alleviate significant muscle tightness and pain in my neck, upper back and shoulder. Lou's knowledge, positive mindset and great manner have enabled me to train harder and smarter to meet my goals. I've made great progress, reducing pain, increasing strength and overall resilience. I just finished the 6 wk challenge at Lift & Live. I have had the best experience with Larah and Nichole (even lost 4 lbs). They are very knowledgeable of anatomy and muscle development. They show you the proper way to do each exercise and they explain why you are doing each exercise. I love how they are right there doing each exercise with you. If you form is not correct they will correct it right away.. Great experience!! More...

It has been a year since I broke my foot and started working full time. Its been a year since I worked out on a regular basis. I knew I needed to do something. I did not want to be that person that couldn't find the time to work out. The person who surrenders to I am getting older. Then I found a 6 week challenge at Lift and Live fitness. I was able to talk 2 friends into joining with me and what an awesome 6 weeks it has been. Larah and Nicole are very knowledgeable trainers, I learned new ways to work my body, I looked forward to every work out. Each work out was modified to work for everyone in the class. Each week was a stepping stone for the next week. My main goal was to get there 3 times a week which I did with an added bonus of a 5.5 pound weight loss, a 3.7% reduction in body fat and a total of 6 inches off my body. I secretly believe I have one more marathon in me and with the help of Lift and Live fitness I now feel this is possible More...

I just finished up the 6 week group training (ladies only) at L&L fitness, which ran from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Over the six weeks, I enjoyed Larah's expertise - each week she focused on something different, from stamina to endurance to strength. Even though this was Larah's first attempt at group training, you would have never known that based on her preparedness and professionalism. It was nice to meet and work out with women who want to empower themselves and others through exercise. I am looking forward to the next 6 weeks! More...

Love L&L, both the studio and the owners. I recently completed a 6 week ladies only group session and can’t wait for the next one! The craziest time of year, from thanksgiving to New Years, working out 2-3 times a week helped me in so many ways. Obviously physically but also mentally as I was able to put myself first a few hours a week and found that I had more focus and energy afterwards to do what needed to be done for my family and to help Santa. Larah is a wealth of knowledge and the studio offers the complete package, effective exercise, nutritional info, modifications if needed, but mostly the dedication and support of their clients. I've worked with Lou for over a year. He is professional in all ways and extremely knowledgeable regarding all things fitness and diet. It's hard to believe that it's coming up on 3 years that I've been training with L&L, mainly because I wouldn't have imagined myself doing ANY form of exercise consistently for 3 years. But here I am, not just thinner than I was in my 30's, but stronger and with more energy. I have been training at L&L fitness for about three months and the changes in my body are amazing! I am nearing a size and weight that I haven't seen since before having my four younger kids and I feel great! Larah and Lou are fantastic to work with, creating customized workouts and a meal plan geared toward my goals as a runner.
