I'm so thankful that we came across Deer Baby and have had the pleasure of working with Franzi so many times (6 photo sessions and counting! ). Franzi goes above and beyond every time. From staying later to playing with a puppet with my toddler, she does whatever it takes to make sure that she captures all the perfect photos. I love that she captures the more posed photos along with the small personal moments (e.g., during "photo breaks," me nursing our newborn or my son enjoying his ice cream). This review is a long time coming. We used Deer Baby two times for newborn photoshoots. Our first time was in early 2014 and second time was in late 2015. In 2014, I must have contacted Julia literally 1 month before delivering (very, very last minute) but we were able to book her fairly easily. I took a huge leap of faith, as no one I knew had used her but I feel in love with her style of photography (via her website) and prayed it would work in my favor!I am glad we booked her because Julia was great, both times! She was so professional, relaxed, and easy to work with. Her turnaround time was VERY quick and the photos came out AHHMAYYZINNGGG! Meghan is 100% kind and professional. Our 3-month old had quite a fussy day during our photo shoot and Meghan not only captured beautiful family moments but she took our baby's spit-up and cries in stride. It's so clear Meghan loves children and treats them with the utmost of love and care. My husband and I were quite taken with her interactions with us and with our baby. Franzi was amazing with our newborn daughter. She dressed her in swaddles and head bands and most importantly positioned her for photos with such love and care. I am so glad I found Deer Baby Photography! I love their simple style aimed at putting your baby front and center by foregoing all the noisy props and scenes - your little one should be the focus on the photos, not the background! ! Cary was such a joy to work with! She used my baby's own blankets and nursery pillows to set the perfect simple backdrops and was able to capture some truly wonderful shots of my newborn daughter! She was also super professional and responsive over email and text. I also love that it's one flat fee - makes everything super easy and convenient and the fee is totally reasonable compared to other places! I picked deer baby after a lot of research because I liked the photos on their website and I felt their prices were good, especially compared to other newborn photographers in my area (Park Slope). Franzi shot my newborn (my first) a couple days ago and I could not be happier!! When she arrived I was a stress ball--the baby was simultaneously feeding and crying, the house wasn't ready, I hadn't had any sleep, and I was sure my baby wouldn't cooperate for the shoot. Franzi came in and somehow managed to soothe both me and my baby. She helped me pick the baby's outfits for the shoot and let me watch the whole thing. She got impossibly beautiful photos that were exactly what I had in mind. And she even gave me some tips on soothing a baby that she had picked up from working with newborns. She was GREAT. We are SO happy to have found Julia!! She came to our apartment for a newborn/family photo session, so everyone (including our 2-year old) was very relaxed and were able to grab props, etc as needed. She's calm, patient, and very professional. Her creativity and expertise show through her work, and we are super pleased with the results. Pricing is very reasonable for the NYC area. She's generous with including tons of photos (200+) and doesn't try to squeeze extra $ for additional shots or require you to buy expensive prints/books (although she offers those options). Turnaround time is super quick - she delivers all the beautifully edited photos on a password-protected user-friendly website, where you can download them in high resolution (and order prints), and she also sends a memory stick in the mail - all within one week! And she emails a cute "sneak peak" before that! We'll definitely hire her again, and we recommend her highly. More...

We recently hired Julia to photograph our newborn son and our two and a half year old toddler. We are absolutely delighted with the results. The photos are really, really good.
