Not all dog trainers are the same - some are good with dogs and not great at teaching their owners. We love people just as much as dogs, so we’ll talk together with you to come up with a plan together that fits your life and your preferences.
You can come to us for group classes or private training, and we can even give you a huge head start with our ‘stay and train’ programs where your dog stays in a home environment for the initial training, which saves you from having to do the hardest part!
Whether you need help with some of your dog’s behaviors, or your dog is just plain refusing to listen to you, that’s why we’re here.
We know what it’s like and we’d love to help you just as we’ve helped so many others with dog training in the Metro Detroit area.
Clever Canine has a real love for animals and helped our Bernese Mountain dog Karma become a great Puppy!! The trainers and staff are all very professional, I would highly recommend Clever Canine. Karma can sit, shake, lay down, roll over, focus, touch and leave it. More...
I have a three year old Weimaraner that is used to always being around people and this is my preferred boarding facility in the area. I can tell if he’s had a stressful stay somewhere because he’ll be anxious and exhausted when I pick him up. When he has stayed at Clever Canine, he comes back just happy to see me. The staff answers all my questions, I always leave with everything I brought, and they have pretty accommodating drop off and pick up hours. More...
Titan loves it there. He always gets excited when we turn on the street.
Take my Corgi here for doggie day care and couldn't be more happy!! Would recommend them to anyone for their services.
Tim and Amy Cutterson are the best dog trainers! My GSD two year old Reagan spent 52 days with them and came back a new better dog. When we sent her she would bark constantly at any dog that walk in front of our home or she could hear in the backyard. She was having leash reactivity and it was hard taking her places where we would encounter other dogs. She came back with no barking even if other dogs are barking and we can take her on walks without having to keep her at home. The thing I liked most is they didn't stop with training her they taught me and my family how to sustain this training consistently. It's easy to send a dog to a board and train and get them back and loose all the momentum and have them revert to their old ways. They also spent time finding out what makes her tick and our family dynamics. Reagan is more confident. She listens and responds with first time obedience. She trusts us to remain confident and calm which enables her to remain calm. This makes not only us happy but her happy because she has clear boundaries and consistency. They also taught us what goes on in the mind of a dog. So we can understand the reason behind certain behaviors. Look them up on Facebook and see how they work with dogs. You would be happy you did!!! More...
Great friendly staff
Clever canine is the best doggie Palace that me and my dog have had the pleasure of giving business to.The employees are very friendly and doggy user-friendly, and I met the owner as well as the manager Hannah, which help me out a lot.I would highly recommend them to any doggy owner. Check them out , you will not be disappointed. They are awesome and they are very loving and caring and it is genuine. Keep up the good work clever canine!! More...
Daily emails with pictures of my dog allowing me peace of mind while on vacation. Gave me a break on day training while I was boarding her. They seemed to really care and make my dog’s stay personal for her. I’ll be using this business again for sure. More...
The daycare crew at Clever Canine is the most consistent and loving to my dog. I don't know why, but whenever my dog comes back, she's well behaved for days. That doesn't happen when I take her to the PetSmart day camp. When my dog was a puppy, we also went to the weekly puppy socialization event, which was tons more effective than what they have at Petco on weekends. Much bigger space, more open, more puppies, and more love. Highly recommend it before dog park exposure. More...
Just got our dog back and we could not be happier. Thank you for all the hard work you have put into marking our dog a great dog!
I had lost any hope of training my thick headed pitbull mix. She needed a lot of time and job scheduling didnt allow me that. I did some research and found Amy and Tim. They worked wonders with Moxxi and I'm so glad they were able to help. Thank you both for the work with Moxxi. Shes a brand new dog More...
I love this place so much! Mandy and Steve have helped us learn how to train our crazy Aussie!! They are very patient and loving towards him! I would highly recommended them!!!
Friendly knowledgeable staff, if your not sure come in and try Clever Canine Dog Training today. You and your Dog will be satisfied and happier. Happy Dog Happy Life❤
My puppy Hazel loves it there! And when we walk in everyone seems just as excited to see her as she is to be there and greet her by name. Then when I pick her up they tell me how she did. Very nice people. More...
Actually my name is Jeanie Berthet, that’s my daughter. I brought my 11 month Mountain Cur/Labrador for custom training. We live on a big property and I’m not a spring chicken and I really needed to be able to train Lacy to carry things for me. Clever Canine was the only place willing to work with my custom request. Lacy and I have learned so much during the great in 8 sessions. I’m so happy I am going there. I started with Mandy and she taught me all about the obedience training and the wonderful E-Collar. Mandy said if you can get your dog to do recall, you got it. Before we brought Lacy there she would not come when called, not even in the house. Now that I’ve been taught on how to train her, she has surpassed the E-Collar and will come when called from inside or outside without even wearing the collar! It’s so amazing. She walks without pulling on the leash. She understands at least 10 different commands and enjoys training. Lizzy helped so much with the beginning of the custom retrieving parts. I learned a lot from her and then she brought Steve into the picture to do the very specific training I needed because he loves training hunting dogs. So its all been fitting together really well. I highly recommend Clever Canine. Even though at first it felt like the price was too much, they worked with me and I have a real easy payment plan. Now I realize for the level of training that I am asking for its so worth it. If you want real friendly people, great trainers and someone to customize what you really need they will work with you. Top Notch people! More...
The staff is very kind, helpful and have taught me a lot. My pup was a little afraid the first couple of weeks but I would still keep up with training him at home and when he started to open up during class I was able to get feedback on how I should be training him from the staff. It's so important to keep up the training at home so that your pup can get good results from the class. Enrolling in the group obedience class has been great. I know if I ever need a doggy daycare or one on one training I will be going with Clever Canine. More...
Thank you for the birthday wishes! Bentley ❤️s you all!
I had a bad experience with SIT MEANS SIT, so I was hoping these trainers did not use punishment as a motivator. They used positive reinforcement and my 7 month old labradoodle is doing great! They use a humane E collar which stimulates not shocks the dogs. They keep u abreast of how your dog is doing with dialogue and pictures with all the trainers who handle your dog. My puppy went to Boot Camp and came back so much more relaxed and was listening to me....finally. Amazing place, amazing trainers. The owner, Mandy, very special too. More...
Great staff, very friendly our German shorthaired pointer pup loves it there!!! Thank you so much!!!
The management and staff are amazing. Facilities are clean and welcoming. While I was there, the dogs were all being treated to puppy friendly ice cream. I feel relieved leaving Jack with them. Jack loves his new friends and family. More...
I have a 2 year old blue nose pit. I love this dog, but could not handle him any longer. After spending hundreds and hundreds on trainers and training tools I was at my end. My dog had become out of control. I could no longer have people over or enjoy my dog. I found clever canine online and in one last desperate attempt I reached out. I can honestly say I am simply amazed at the transformation in my dog. The education my dog and I have received has far exceeded my expectations. I have worked with Mandy and Steve whom have been excellent in teaching me what I’ve been doing wrong and right. They have taken every step to make sure we are comfortable, and confident in what we are doing. I can now walk my dog next to me (rather than him walking me) I can call him to me, I can even settle him down. I am able to bring people over once again. More...
Staff is super friendly and helpful. I take my pup Taco here for puppy classes and daycare. He absolutely loves it and I love having the opportunity for him to learn and socialize!
Great staff, our dog loves it there!!
The staff here are amazing and go above and beyond to help meet your goals for your pup.
Our little puppy (4.5 pounds, 6 1/2 yr old) did really good. She had never been boarded before, just a few daycare visits with CleverK9. She is pretty shy to new people & doesn’t really play with other dogs. The team was great & took me to see where she would stay for the weekend (nice little room with a toddler bed) & for the first time, she let one of the girls hold her! These things set our mind at ease. They were also great & sent email updates (we found out she took a liking to Holly) with pics. I will definitely recommend CleverK9 More...
The most excited Eli gets is when he gets in the car in the morning to come to daycare and burn off his energy when I work, glad I found this place instead of my pup sitting at home through the week
Boarded my Husky here and her came home so happy. He will be attending the boot camp and I'm so excited for all he is going to learn!
A safe and fun haven for the dogs to go to when we have to leave out of town. I had a very new foster and they worked with her one on one and provided a safe and happy environment for a pretty tough little girl. I even got a mother's day gift when I picked her up!!! More...

I’ve been very happy with all the trainers. I had my hound/lab mix go through the “A Great Dog in 8 Weeks” and it really did help. He has a lot of energy and is still young and gets distracted. I’ve been taught many tools to help my dog. Love this place❤️ More...
The staff at Clever Canine has been more than welcoming and professional. Mandy, Matt, Kaytie, and Nycole have done a great job teaching us as owners how to train Roxy (our now 11 month old GSD). We have been with them since she was 11 weeks old and we will continue her training there for the future (because consistency is key, and Roxy loves going). Hannah is always happy to answer questions and put us on the schedule. Lizzie is always a go getter and excited to teach everyone anything they want to know! Roxy is currently working on her leash reactivity around other dogs. It is not an uncommon behavior for a GSD, but it is an undesirable behavior to say the least. She has improved tremendously. We took part in AKC Puppy, Great in 8, and other groups classes. Mandy and Matt are great at setting goals for our training and constantly challenge us. We talked to / met a few trainers at other facilities but we chose Clever Canine and our experience has been phenomenal. They have various training methods and will work with you and your pet to figure out what works best. More...
Great friendly stuff. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
After several bad experiences at other boarding facilities, I checked out Clever Canine to leave my dog for five days. I was super impressed with the caring, knowledgeable and patient staff there. I wanted my pup to feel like he was at home and be given attention and affection. And he was. They go above and beyond and I believe it is because they are truly dog lovers themselves, not just coming to work make a paycheck. I appreciated the care they took of both my dog AND me!! More...
I am so impressed really with the level of care my Finn received during his stay for the first time here. It is obvious from the start how caring and knowledgeable and sincere the staff are here. They made my reservations about leaving him alleviated; due to other boarding experiences at other well-known facilities where my Finn received NO human interaction, was injured resulting in vet visits, became sick and required emergency vet care, THIS experience was reassuring and I believe he got excellent care. I so appreciate all the staff and I believe they set the bar here that other dog boarding facilities could learn from. Thank you again! More...

I would recommend Clever Canine to others! The adorable suites they stay in overnight look like tiny cottages and have little toddler beds for the dogs to sleep on, how cute! Another place we go to puts them in kennels where they can see and hear other dogs. This alone, is such a piece of mind for me! They don’t have cameras to watch your dog, but they do post on their Instagram daily (if not, almost everyday) and at the end of her stay i received an email saying what a good girl she was and it had photos of her attached!Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we will use them again! I went to Clever Canine based on a recommendation. Unfortunately I was unaware that Clever Canine has changed their philosophy and methods of training. Part way through the initial evaluation, the trainer began discussing ecollars and prong collars. My initial instinct was NO, but since I thought I was working with a professional trainer, I allowed him to put a prong collar on my dog. After a lap walking around the room, the trainer told my dog to sit. When he didn't, the trainer pulled on the leash. My dog immediately yelped, stood up, tried to get away and continued yelping. When I said he was hurt, the trainer said he was just throwing a temper tantrum because he wasn't getting his own way. I had to insist that the collar be removed from my dog.
I have since discussed this incident with a rescue worker, our vet and another trainer. All agree that this should have never happened.
I will NEVER return to Clever Canine or recommend it to others. More...
Thank you very much for the comments. I would like to add a little bit of clarification to this post. You came to us because we work closely with Canine Companion Rescue Group, helping them with some of their harder to place dogs. As a service to them and their hard to place dogs, we provide free training to those people who adopt dogs from them that we have fostered or work with. Since we fostered the dog that you recently adopted from them, you were offered (and were looking to take us up) on the free training. The debate between all positive/ force free training and anything else has a deep divide. We respect the right of every dog owner to train their dog as they choose. Unfortunately, we are not always granted the same courtesy. We offer positive training, as well as balanced training that could include the use of a corrective collar like a martingale, pinch, or an ecollar. Our goal is to educate all of our clients on the tools. It is the clients choice to decide what tool and training method to use. We do not force anyone to use any tool or training method. You stated in your post
Amy is to dogs what Michelangelo was to marble. A master. It’s clear that Amy not only understands the dog psyche but seems to speak their language. When Chief arrived at Amy’s doorstep he was little more than a delinquent, equally destructive and adorable. When he left he was a gentleman and a scholar of the dog arts, humanities, and sciences. And, an otherwise really good boy. In short I am extremely pleased. 10/10. For a little more information about Chief – he is a Shiba Inu. They are notorious for being very difficult to train. Chief stayed with Amy for about 9 weeks for the complete boarding program. When he arrived at 6 months of age he was a major flight risk, hated his crate, and pretty much only knew how to dance around in circles, dodging everyone and everything. At 8 months of age he is now reliable off leash and has a solid understanding of all the basic behaviors a normal person would ever want in a canine companion, and even seems to like his crate. In summary, I highly recommend Amy and My Clever Canine. More...
We took our dog Luna to Clever Canine and loved it! Our dog is so much better now. I also HIGHLY recommend their daycare program if your dog is very high energy. We’ve taken ours to other daycares and she has so much energy it’s almost as if we didn’t take her for daycare at all. After a day at Clever Canine our pup sleeps ALL day and night. She is a lab/Shep/border collie mix and has the combined energy of all three breeds. We have taken her for 3 mile runs and it’s like she had no exercise. More...
Nice facility, great people! The socialization is helping our puppies build their skills to be therapy dogs.
Amy & Tim did a fabulous job training our labrador puppy. Misha went there for a complete boarding program which took about 8 weeks. He came back home such a well-behaved dog. Labs are known to be extremely (sometimes overly:) friendly and social dogs. Misha is a perfect example. His friendliness knows no bounds; he would jump and lick people as a form of greeting. Some people are fine with it, some (especially small children) can get scared. We wanted to make sure our dog knows how to behave properly in any given situation. My Clever canine definitely excelled at it! They did an excellent job with every aspect of the training but our favorite part was how happy he was interacting with the trainers. They obviously treated Misha really well! Highly recommend Amy & Tim. More...
After the first week we drop off Delta I knew that this place was perfect for him. He loves going there! Since he is under a year old this place offers him plenty of exercise, socializing, and lots of fun. They also offer package deals on boarding, daycare, and training so its wallet friendly. Can't say enough about this place it's amazing and the staff will work with you and your pets needs. More...

I highly recommend this business!!! Our Biscuit was a rescue dog. We didn't know much about her history except that she was about 2-3 years old. The Foster family filled us in as much as possible about her good behaviors, she slept in a crate quietly & was housebroken, but she had very little other training & was known to "bolt". We signed up for dog training taking it to an advanced level. She also passed the test to earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen Title Certificate. I continued to work with her consistently. Biscuit is very sweet, smart & eager to learn. She was highly motivated by rewards of treats & praise for good behavior. She did all her many commands 100% when practicing in our home. However on walks if Biscuit was excited about meeting a new person she's pull on her leash to approach & most of the times tried to jump up on them. When distracted by other dogs or a cat running by she'd pull or lunge on her leash. In this heightened state of excitement she could care less about a treat. She did not respond immediately to a command, I was not the focus & I was ignored. When my husband took her out for a run she always pulled forward. Off leash was NEVER an option as I feared she'd bolt. Sure enough she bolted one day to chase after a dog that had previously attacked her. She would not come back to me no matter what I did! Luckily a passer-by was able to grab her leash & walk her back to me. At this point I knew that there were missing pieces of the training puzzle & I needed the help of a professional! When I found My Clever Canine Dog Training, read the reviews & the descriptions of what they offer, it was a no-brainer for me! We met with Amy & were thrilled that Biscuit would qualify for the two week remote collar training course. Amy provided us with thorough instructions including commands to use so we'd know what to do once Biscuit got home. The difference is amazing. We are so impressed with her progress. She walks at all times in a prefect loose leash, heel position. She keeps her eyes on me as I test her in changing the direction I walk always staying by my side. When she starts to bark she stops as soon as I say quiet. When my husband takes her out for a run she stays right by his side. The other day when our cat ran by she looked like she was going to chase him but as soon as I said leave it...she stopped & changed her focus. We appreciate that although she has received excellent training we are responsible for continuing to do what has been taught, to continue to set up scenarios to test her, work with her consistently & to schedule the follow-up lessons. Why wouldn't I want to keep a great thing going? I can not say enough how impressed & pleased we are with Amy & the the excellent progress she has made with Biscuit. She is obviously passionate about what she does & she does it VERY well! The cost was well worth it, best investment we made to round-out Biscuit into a happier & an even more enjoyable dog to love! Many MANY thanks Amy! We look forward to our future classes & dog boarding needs. More...

Where do I start... first, I think I had more reservations/anxiety about dropping my 11 month boxer rescue than my pup did going. He did the complete board and train, which was about 10 weeks. Amy & Tim really do know what they're doing. They are caring, patient, understanding and most of all passionate and love your pet like it's their own. I think the best review comes from Leo himself when we came back for our training and he jumped out of the car because he could hear and see Amy. It's safe to say he loves My Clever Canine. Again, thank you so much for your help! Leo and I truly appreciate it!!! More...

I couldnt be happier with the folks at Clever Canine. I have a 6 year old rescue French Bulldog. He was very reactive to everything, didn't have many "manners" and was particularly aggressive to other dogs. Manny is like a completely different dog after spending time with the great trainers. He is still quirky and funny but now he is also great with obedience commands. More importantly he is no longer dog aggressive. More...

I took my dog Bowser to Clever Canine Dog Training and had Matt as our trainer. He was absolutely phenomenal! I've put Bowser in training at other places in the past and never really saw an improvement but after training with Matt, he's a completely different dog. Bowser is a very anxious and kind of aggressive dog so would have issues with a lot of things which Matt helped correct. He now corrects himself from a lot of the negative behaviors that he used to have, actually listens to his commands when given, and is a much happier dog now that he's let go of some of those things that made him so anxious. I am no longer scared to invite new people into my home or take him on walks where we might run into other dogs (which I used to avoid completely). Matt didn't just train Bowser but taught me how to understand him better and be a better dog owner in general. I would highly recommend anyone to go to them for their training! Whether it be for obedience and aggression like it was for us, or for just learning how to help your dog listen better and be an overall happier pup!! Thank you so much, everyone at Clever Canine, from both Bowser and I!! More...

Clever Canine transformed my good dog into a great dog! My Goldendoodle Harper was enrolled in the 2 weeks board and train program to fine tune some issues. After the completion of the program, we could see a noticeable difference with her. During the "transition" back into our home, the staff at Clever Canine explained and showed us the way to work with our newly trained pet. They definately take pride in what they do and I feel they go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied. I highly recommend this company. More...
We were in search of a local training facility that would be able to help us with our very smart and very easily distracted pup, Jack. After our initial research into Clever Canine we went in for a consultation and decided to try the accelerated obedience program they offer. In addition, we signed up for 5 days of the "Stay and Play" doggie day care.
In his first 3 weeks of training, he's a new pup. He's always been good with his commands but he's gotten much better with distractions and he's learned quite a few new ones as well. And we're almost at what I thought would be an impossible break-through...loose leash walking!
Every day after daycare he came home DOG tired but was noticeably better with his commands. He gets SO excited to go in the morning and on days he stays home, he whines in the hallway because he wants to go see all his human and fur friends. It's very evident that the staff at Clever Canine shows him love, attention, and reinforces positive behaviors we want at home. This dog dad is insanely thankful for Clever Canine and their amazing staff. More...

We are so glad we decided to give Clever Canine a try. We have an English Mastiff who is very scared of everything and everyone. After even just our first visit, we were given some hints that worked very well. We then brought our baby for the socializing class. I am a trainer at Petsmart in Fairfield and have sent Amy several dogs that needed way more help. She has done such a great job with them and the owners are so happy!! Can't recommend her highly enough. Thanks, Amy! More...
We adopted our young German shepherd, Sharpe, from a shelter. Our beautiful boy quickly became the center of our lives, but suffered from dog aggression and a generally anxious nature that made day to day living difficult and public excursions almost impossible. After a year of working with other trainers who did not understand or have the tools to correct our dog's behavioral issues, we were referred to Amy at My Clever Canine. We made the difficult decision to leave our pup for two months for behavioral and obedience training. His transformation is nothing short of miraculous - our psycho hose beast has been transformed into a calm, patient dog whose love, loyalty and playfulness has not been diminished in the slightest. In fact, we think he is even more affectionate than he was before his training, and very clearly he is a happier, better-adjusted dog.Dog training is not a "pay and walk away" kind of service. We have work to do to maintain and enhance what Sharpe has learned, and will continue to work with Amy to help us meet our goals. We did come home with a clear idea of how to continue that, and the cost of our training included several follow-up visits to address any questions or problems that arise. The trainers here have a deep love of dogs, and just as important to their clients and students, they also have a clear understanding of dog psychology and what it takes to shape a great dog. Our next dog will likely be a puppy, and will definitely spend time here to get an awesome, fulfilling life underway. I would encourage everyone to spend some time and money on formal training for their dog. The difference it makes in everyday life, reduced frustration, and a happier relationship with a happier dog is so worth the investment.Maybe the best review came from Sharpe himself. A few days after bringing him home, we returned to My Clever Canine to drop off his training collar. As soon as we turned down the driveway, he lit up with a big smile, and his tail started wagging! After our son arrived our dog became extremely aggressive and territorial. She would growl at our child, growl at me and show her teeth. She wouldn’t listen to a single command and challenged me in every way. She became so aggressive she would go after our other dog and had even snapped at our son. Needless to say- I hated the dog more than anything. I locked her away to protect our son until we could figure out a solution. I was seconds away from getting rid of her. Being that this is my husbands dog (he is very attached to her) I started searching for reputable dog trainers. I found clever canine. They were prompt and the trainer/owner herself called me right away (being this is a scary situation, especially with a 1year old in the home). Needless to say, they took us on. We are so incredibly grateful for them. Our dog is so different today and I actually enjoy her again. I recommend them to everyone. If you are having trouble with your fur Babies- look no further. They are amazing. And not only with dogs but with kids- we brought our son every week and they worked around him.. they know what they’re doing. Thank you clever canine. We love you guys and even though lady graduated today- we will visit. Thank you for saving our dog & family. You guys are amazing. More...
Don’t let the prices scare you!! The payment plan options make it so easy and the lessons are well worth the price. Everything is included, and I saw more progress in my Great Pyrenees mix (who is aloof and doesn’t take direction well) in 2 weeks than I have in the 3 years I’ve had him.
10/10, would absolutely recommend! More...
Amy has been great and Sy loves going to his training every week!
Amy is fabulous and willing to work out crazy schedule. My boy absolutely loves her and it is amazing what differences we see in him...
The girls at Clever Canine were so helpful and answered all my questions when dropping my puppy off for daycare for the first time. They told me he was nervous at first and they took the time to slowly introduce him to the dogs. I love that! I have already told friends about how wonderful of an experience it has been! More...
Very nice and knowledgeable people. Evaluation went great, they got me in the right class for me and my dog, and we start classes this week
I had such an awesome experience with the ladies here! I thought my dog needed training because he bit a dog at the dog park, but they assessed him and said he just didn't care for dogs much. They provided the free consultation and provided me with some tips to distract him when he's around other dogs. Such a nice team and pleasure to work with. I'd recommend them to everyone! More...
Training my puppy (Cora), and so far so good! Staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to work with you with anything!
Amy is amazing ! I cannot say enough about about how well she has done with my Pup Remi. He is a completely different dog who is so well behaved.
Love the trainers. They are amazing with my two pitbulls and I have seen so much improvement in them.
The Team at Clever Canine is awesome! They have been so helpful working with our German Sheperd pup Shakka!! She loves going there for doggie daycare & they really do treat her like she is part of their family! We are so very grateful for everything they do & would highly recommend their services!! More...
Mandy and her team are amazing, their training and experience has been so helpful with our "active" puppy. He is a handful and I have received excellent instruction and we have seen real progress with his behavior. The team at Cleaver Canine are very knowledgeable and experienced, have a great sense of humor and a real love for dogs. More...
Clever Canine is amazing, Amy is awesome. I am a vet student with a very high energy cattle dog with mild dog aggression, and within 4 sessions we made amazing progress. Amy has a couple traits that I feel are lacking in most dog trainers that make her amazing. She is realistic in terms of expectations and time needed to address problems, she has a good balance between using positive reinforcement first and backing it up with negative reinforcement as necessary, and she also has a great understanding of dog behaviors as they differ between breeds and disciplines (not to mention an excellent understanding of animal health). I would highly recommend Clever Canine for any issues or training needs! More...
Amy and Tim are AMAZING!!!! I have always brought trained dogs into our home, and now have two litter mate GSD pups! They are completely different dogs upon return... best money we have ever spent!
Before discovering my clever canine I was told my dog was untrainable and was a liability. Upon hearing that news I did some research and made the call to My Clever Canine. I basically took home a dog / breed I knew absolutely nothing about and was worried we might have to re home him. All of my concerns were heard and Amy came to my home to meet my dog and see what could be done. It was almost a “challenge accepted” meeting. She made a game plan and we decided on the 8 week board and train program. Normally it’s a 6 week program but he needed more time as he showed aggression towards men in particular. He would pull on his leash and take me for a walk and bark at everything and anything that passed us. I wish I had gotten him to her sooner. He was well over a year and was set in his ways and learned that if he acted out based on his size, he would get his way. But within those 8 weeks she worked hard with him and those bad habits he learned she corrected. I can now jog with him and he trots right next to me. He doesn’t notice men when they pass by. He is much happier and so are we. We are able to control him and he likes having the discipline. He looks forward to going to my Clever Canine when we go on vacation and need someone to board him. He loves running with the pack their. It’s his home away from home. If it weren’t for Amy and my Clever Canine I don’t think Vinny would still be our dog. She is passionate about what she does and you can tell by the quality and service she provides to these animals. More...
We had an amazing experience with Amy!! We had a new puppy and a new baby at the same time, so good training was essential. The training was personalized for us and our dogs and very effective and sustainable. We still use Amy for boarding and will as long as she will have us. Best trainer around!! More...
5 stars isn’t even close to the number of stars Amy deserves! I took in a rescue boxer from her and Amy was incredible thru the entire process, always answered my questions -no matter how dumb- with Care and sincerity, she was always interested in seeing pictures, and was even there for me when I had to eventually put her down due to cancer. I would HIGHLY reccomend Amy and MCC for anyone looking for training or any other service offered. This lady is a saint!!!! More...
I brought my 7 yr old Pomeranian Zeke to help with the excessive barking and being out in public. Mindy worked with Zeke to refocus his attention with different methods. Yesterday was the first time a person came over to the house since his training. After the initial barking when our guest came in Zeke was completely fine and did not continue to bark like he would have in the past. This was a huge accomplishment and we were so proud of Zeke.
We currently have our 2 yr old dog is lessons and our puppy in the puppy socializing class as well. They all love going here. All of the training has been completely positive.
I would highly recommend. More...

These guys are the best! They go above and beyond to make sure that your dog ( and you) get the training that you need. I would recommend Clever Canine to anyone!
I ended up not going with them for more obedience training because they are too far of a drive for me. I was impressed with the trainer I met and would have been happy to bring my dog there if it was closer to my home
I used Clever Canine as a petsitter and couldn't be happier! They gave me updates and sent pictures of my babies while I was gone!

Lizzie and Mandy are amazing! These ladies went above and beyond so many times that I lost count. Our rescue dog, Buddy, has come so far with their help/suggestions... and he wouldn't be where he is without them. :-) If you want a team of professionals who are totally committed to helping your pooch be the best dog he/she can be, Clever Canine is for you!!! We are so glad we decided to give Clever Canine a try. We have an English Mastiff who is very scared of everything and everyone. After even just our first visit, we were given some hints that worked very well. We then brought our baby for the socializing class. From the beginning of the hour til the end, it was like a whole new dog. I am so grateful for how far we have already come. More...
Great trainers! Great knowledge of dogs, and their behaviors. Very friendly, and informative. Overall great experience!
Adam is a fantastic trainer! I've got a well trained border collie mix to show for it. Easy to work with and very professional.
I can not give enough praise to Amy. Finding her was the best thing we have done for both of our dogs (we have a 4 year old smaller mix and a 6 month old larger breed puppy... Both rescues with breed unknown)... AND US! A few specific things that I REALLY like..1. She does not judge or preach - She won't set the rules for your dogs, you do... And she shows you how to make it happen. You get to use the time to train the things that fit your personal needs, well beyond the standard behaviors you learn in some programs. 2. She comes to your home - totally worth the money for in home training. Working in their environment helps in my opinion. Also, I have a new baby and having someone come to me was the difference between being able to train (in order to keep) the puppy my husband brought home when I was 9 months pregnant (yes- he really did that) and not. 3. She knows what she is doing! She is consistent and it works. Training dogs is really about training the owner and she really sets you up for success! We noticed a significant difference after just the first lesson - although the subsequent lessons are necessary and well worth it. 4. She is fun to work with. She is clearly an animal lover (as you should be in this business) and works in a way that is healthy and fun for the dogs. She is also very clear and direct which helps gets results fast. I HIGHLY recommend and would rate more than 5 stars if I could. More...
I've known Amy for a couple of years now, in which she has watched my dogs while I travel, handed out helpful advice when I've had issues pop up, and has helped me find two of my dogs. Recently Amy started helping me with training my 11 month old puppy, and after one lesson I've already seen a difference. Jalapeño is an incredibly high energy puppy who really needed to learn some rules and the expert advice Amy gave us in our first lesson has been a huge help. I wanted to do as much of the training as I could myself, but I quickly realized I needed a hand and Amy jumped in effortlessly. She not only worked with Jalapeño, but she explained everything she was doing to me, and then put me to work as well. I've now been able to take what she taught us home, and continue to work with Jalapeño on a daily basis. What stood out to me the most in our training session was Amy's ability to ask Jalapeño to do what she needed to do, while still incorporating play and fun into the lesson. I'm super excited to continue working with Jalapeño on my own using the skills Amy gave us, and even more excited to know I have a knowledgeable trainer to go to when I need a more experienced hand. After adopting my first dog (ever) from a local Humane Society, I discovered she was very reactive to other dogs and redirected her fear on whatever was close. After taking her to a reactive dog class from another trainer, I was invited to an intervention and advised my only option was to put her to sleep since she was a very severe case. This was not an option to me, and by recommendation I was put in touch with Adam. Adam met with us,and even in the first meeting, I felt hope and could see how a change in tone or body language could make a big impact. We worked with Adam and eventually another of his pack for about 7 months before his move, and I've seen improvement every step of the way! Adam was not only patient and effective in training me as a new owner and my pup, but he was also patient and hopeful when setbacks made me doubt my capabilities. Today, we continue to work on the reactivity, but with Adam's guidance, I am a much more knowledgeable and confident owner and have been put on a path to success. I would highly recommend Adam to anyone who needs assistance with dog training for their canine friend or themselves, but even more, if you've been told there's no hope for your dog, reach out to Clever Canine. Rehabilitating a dog with aggression can be a challenging road at times, but after every training session with Adam, I felt a little more hope and 7 months later am amazed by the progress I've seen! Before Adam moved to New Orleans, I asked him to spend some one on one time with myself and one of our dogs. I have never spent a lot of time with dogs one on one but have a favorite of my roommates dog. I wanted to be able to walk the youngest, most hyper of our dogs to be able to take her on a road trip with us and feel comfortable with her listening to our commands. Adam was very patient with Lola and I, he helped me learn how to read Lola and how to walk her without making Lola uncomfortable when she pulls on the leash because she is excited. Adam was an enormous help in getting me more comfortable controlling a dog that is as hyper as Lola. Anytime we needed Adams help in walking the dogs, letting the dogs out, or even small favors with the chickens, he was more than willing to help and we never had to worry about it. Adam was a staple in our house and he will be missed. More...
I just wanted to say "Thank You Amy" for the awesome training lessons, we now have a better understand and control of our dog. If you have a dog that won't listen, drags you down the street while walking and you don't have a clue on how to gain control of your dog...please don't wait to call, My Clever Canine Dog Training. We adopted our dog, Joey, from the animal shelter. Joey is a Catahoula leopard mix, which we knew nothing about this breed...but we quickly realized he was a lot of dog to train, more than what I've ever experienced, and I've raised many kinds of dogsin my life time. I contracted Amy, and she was familiar with this breed and was ableto show us how to control Joey. We purchased 4 lessons and they were worth every penny. I now have Joey walking with me on leash instead of dragging me down the street. Joey knows how to sit, stay, come, down roll over, catch, and heel. He comes into the house and is now getting along with our house cats. Joey also sleeps in our room at night and is very well behaved. If it hadn't have been for Amy, I think we would have tried to find Joey another home because we just didn't know what to do with him and that would've been a big loss to us and Joey. Joey is a very highly intelligent, loving, loyal dog and loves us dearly. We now have a fantastic pet whom has completed our family due to the help of Amy's devoted training. Amy is very experienced with all breeds and you can tell sheloves her job and it shows. Thanks,Lore, Chris and Joey :) More...
