This place has been on my list for over a year- finally went for brunch and it was wonderful. We shared a few things... chicken nuggets (so good! ) & French toast, roast beef hash & cornmeal waffle. It was all great. Service was attentive and place is cozy & cute. Bonus for the great Christmas decor. Loved everything about it and will be back for dinner in the future! Thanks for the great experience. More...

I ordered the porterhouse steak and I have to say that it was fantastic. One of the best steaks that I have ever had, I literally could cut it with my fork it was that tender, and it was equally juicy and flavourful. The food here doesn't disappoint. I wish they had a stout available, they only have Old Speckled Hen and I would prefer not to drink it. Other than every meal here is quite enjoyable, and the staff here are terrific. More...

We held our wedding rehearsal dinner at Chez Melange and had a wonderful experience. My parents and family have been coming here for years, and Michael and the team really took care of us. We used the beautiful private room the restaurant offers for around 30 people, and it worked perfectly. Michael worked with us to put together a great selection of food that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Service was great, food was delicious, and the room was cozy and so pretty - what more could you ask for. Thanks, Michael and the Chez staff! More...

This is one of my favorite restaurants!  I love the fact that you have multiple options for dining, Bouzy's Gastropub and Sea Change in addition to Chez Melange all under one roof!  The food is always delicious with regular menu items and new items daily. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.  They also have a great happy hour at Bouzy's, the Monday night $5.00 burger is to die for!  Can't say enough good things, try it for yourself! Hmmm lets, say it this way... impressive service, not because it super-fast but because I felt entertain with the crews, they very happy people like they are just having fun while serving the people that comes in and out. On my part, I was serve well, thought the a little waiting time yet I was contented with my food specially the scallop crudo and the langostinos, thought the foods are just the typical ones and nothing really special yet I still love the place due to a good service. Celebrating our Anniversary and the wife wanted to try someplace new, and a co-worker suggested Chez Mélange, upon arriving at the restaurant it looked a little crowded however, looks can be deceiving, in the front it looks like a small bar with some tables but when Michael whom we later discovered was the owner lead us to the back you have a very nice dining area away from the noise of the bar. We were seated right away and our waiter Gary dropped off the menus and got us some water. it was a Tuesday night and while they were not packed they were busy.We started with a dozen oysters, and some drinks, moved on to the entrees, wife had the pork chop and I had the scallops.Pork chop was perfectly cooked, nice and moist with great flavor, very generous portion size. Scallops were also perfectly cooked, came with Bacon, Cheddar mashed potatoes and spinach, great combination and more than filling. Michael came over to check on us and asked how the meal was, when my wife mentioned it was our anniversary he had Gary bring us out the salted caramel dessert which was delicious, we had also ordered the poached pear shortcake which was also delicious. It's a small restaurant, not small enough to feel confined and the center of attention, but small enough so that the staff can spend the time they need with the guests and make sure everyone is happy, kind of sorry we had not tried them before, so we will need to go back and give some of their other dishes a try. Prices were very reasonable for the portion size and quality of the food, presentation was spot on and selection is very good with enough to please most everyone in your party. Highly Recommended More...

This is my favorite restaurant in the South Bay. My husband and eat there at least 2 times a week. Michael Franks is the most renowned South Bay restaurant owner.  Robert Bell can do no wrong as a chef there is nothing but delicious cuisine. We go to Bouzy for Monday $5 Burger, yum. Taco Tuesday double yum. Sea Change for a special night. Service is outstanding. We are greeted by name. It is a must in any of the three venues in the restaurant. We go to their wine dinners which are an unbelievable value, 4 to 5 course dinner with free flowing wine from the best wineries in California and beyond. My husband and I ate at Sea change last night and enjoyed another perfect meal. With excellent fresh sea food, great service, reasonable prices, and a good ambiance, Sea Change remains one of the best restaurants in the area.  With a lovely champagne cocktail to start, followed by the Pacific Rim Tostadas, which were perfect for sharing, the Chilean Sea bass for me, and the Portuguese Seafood stew for my husband, and finishing with a delicious Peach Tarte Tartin, we went home happy.  If you are an oyster lover, this is the place for you. Love coming here , the food is good , bartenders make awesome drinks , the staff is wonderful - only problem is the owner who seems to be delightful has a person vendetta against those who are allergic to   -mayonnaise- ask for it to be removed from your meal , get ready to be charged $3+ for your meal - and everything on the menu some nights seems to include it - limiting the menu.  It's not like I'm vegan . I get it asking for something to be removed from your meal that causes you doubled over in convulsions is distracting for the kitchen . Thank you for the polite reply - and your help. More...

Consistently the best meal in town. Although most all the dishes are unique and delicious, I believe the move to Sea Change was a smart one. Like many, I prefer to order seafood in good restaurants where it is sourced reliably, is fresh and they know how to prepare it. Even I can throw a chicken in the oven but would rather leave fish in the hands of a real chef. This visit, I had the ocean trout. Cooked perfectly, great sauce and a imaginative side dish that included chanterelle mushrooms, english peas and a small type of pasta. Every single bite was expertly prepared, portioned and plated beautifully and was incredibly delicious. No plate fillers here (think some kind of mashed potatoes and limp asparagus). We had a sparkling Sauvignon Blanc that was a first for me and was really enjoyable. The wine list is extensive and has been creatively curated to include many bottles you are not going to find in local wine shops. Desert was their amazing key lime pie, which I have had before and was great. I will not eat desert in a restaurant that does not have a pastry chef. This is clearly made in house and done expertly. The dinner was timed and served perfectly and no restaurant I know can make you feel more special or welcomed than this one! More...

Very good dinner. We only had two dishes but both were prepared perfectly. A perfect meal of small plates!  We usually sit at the bar in Bouzy, it's easy, and always good.  This time, we specifically wanted seafood and it had been some time since we've dined in the main room so we decided on  Sea Change.  It was early in the week, the dining room was relatively quiet (something we needed that day) the servers were on top of it and the meal was perfect! We enjoyed oysters two ways, fresh on the half shell and baked with Parmesan and garlic, OMG!!  The baked only came three to a plate, I could've eaten 3 dozen myself!!  We also enjoyed chicken pâté, New Orleans style BBQ shrimp and grits, and Brussels sprouts.  Oh and how could I forget, my fav...crab claws!  There were some main entrees that I really wanted to try out but we filled up before we could get there in the menus, guess we'll start there next time.  Thank you Chez Melange for consistently having delicious food and offering a pleasant experience! I had dinner with some friends tonight and we had a very nice dining experience. There was a large pharmaceutical private dinner in a separate room and we didn't notice any noise. We were in the main dining room which is on the smaller size but spaced nicely so you can enjoy conversations without losing privacy. The service was excellent along with the friendly ambience. We all commented about the warm fresh bread and home made red sauce for dipping but no double dipping. Everyone ordered fish and I had the sole which was outstanding. My friends raved about the halibut and sea bass. We shared French fries that were excellent. The waiter suggested a meritage red wine that everyone enjoyed. We all had dessert and I liked the budino. We had a nice time and on the way out we noticed they had live music in their bar which looked nice.I would recommend this restaurant for excellent food, service and fair prices. Saturday night dinner out, wanted to try this place after riding by it a million times on my bike. Really cool place, very nice staff, good food selection, lots of drinks and appetizers to choose from. I like how they have separate rooms for different dining experiences.  Oyster bar, regular seating, main dining room with live music. We started of the dinner with a stop at the oyster bar for drinks and some calamari. Service was great, drinks were good, food was good. then moved to the main room for dinner and more drinks. Service was great, food was good and the music was great. we had a great time, very cool place. Food we tried, calamari, cauliflower bits, fried pickles and we both had the Ahi tuna burger. all the food was good, i would get all of it again. Cost for our night was around $100, for all of it. so normal for a seafood  pub with a few drinks. The menu was pretty big, lots to choose from, for sure we want to go back and try some other things. ☺️Went last night for their Valentines Dinner and it was spectacular! Although by the time of our 9pm reservation they were out of a few dishes, I ordered the scallops and potent which were melt in your mouth delicious and my husband ordered Venison in a cherry reduction which was divine! We hadn't been to Chez Melange for quite some time and decided to for Valentine's Day, which is an occasion on which I had long ago decided to skip restaurants. We were very pleasantly surprised. After being greeted by Lisa, and later by Michael, we were promptly seated and almost immediately attended to by our waiter, a most pleasant young man. Although a little loud, the ambience was most welcoming. For the occasion, a prix-fixed three course meal was offered. We had some good bread (and don't miss Lisa's truly famous dipping sauce) and I had an absolutely delicious glass of Malbec. My wife chose the "New Orleans BBQ shrimp," which was quite good, while I opted for the escargot, which was the most disappointing item we tried. Very bland and almost tasteless, even with the garlic butter. The butternut squash which accompanied it was excellent. For our main dish, my BW had the duck a l'orange-very tasty-and I picked the roasted venison loin, which was probably the best I've ever had, notwithstanding that I haven't had it very often. The side dishes, her wild rice with butternut squash and my faro with mushrooms, were equally good.Dessert for both of us was a chocolate hazelnut soufflé, which we enjoyed. All in all, a delightful experience and I have promised myself not to go so long without returning. This was made all the better by the warmth of our hosts. More...

...we love going to Chez Melange/Sea change on Christmas eve,(and most any other evening for that matter) it's almost like going home except with more choices. ..we arrived for our 6 pm reservation to a full dining room, lots of families and couples out to enjoy a wonderful holiday dinner and I'm sure they were not disappointed, we certainly were not. The menu was a 3 course prefix, reasonably priced, with several choices for each course, additionally you could order very fresh shellfish off their oyster bar menu. We took advantage of the oyster bar menu and ordered a half dozen fanny bay oysters to start, very fresh, nice size, a perfect start to our meal. For our starters (9 choices) we ordered an amazing clam chowder, loaded with clams, potatoes and oh so creamy, we also had the grilled octopus with chorizo served over corn studded mashed potatoes, yum. Our entrees (8 choices) consisted of a perfectly prepared fresh Chilean sea bass sauteed ala piccata with linguine, and magnificent plump fresh New England scallops over sweet potato mash..Both came to the table timely, at proper temperatures, served beautifully and delicious. For dessert we had one of our favorites the key lime tart and my new favorite, a chocolate tart, both served with fresh whipped creme. ..Of Course Santa and Mrs Claus were there overseeing the guests, making sure everyone's evening was filled with happiness,  the roles were played perfectly by owners Micheal and Lisa, and of course Santa's elves were there assisting and helping every guest celebrate the evening with joy, and wonderful service, parts played delightfully By Sarah, Gary and Sergio...and then out of the kitchen arose such a clatter, then red hatted chef /owner Robert magically appeared..wishing all his guests Merry Christmas and all a good night...yes it was a wonderful evening of dining, fun, great service, delicious food and fond memories, thank you to the entire team at Chez for making it such a special night. Cozy, local restaurant with that "local feel." Overall, food and service are very good. One of the owners, Michael, greets customers, makes them feel welcome, and occasionally delivers a dish. Nice touch. Had the Christmas Eve 3-course, price fixed, dinner last night. Atmosphere was excellent, especially after my  server dimmed the light in my corner (server offered) and turned up the music (critical for atmosphere, my request).  Wine corkage fee is one of the most reasonable I have seen for a nice restaurant. Zarzuela! If I had to do the evening over again, I'd order Zarzuela seafood stew for myself. I could kick myself for not ordering as my main - instead I ordered grilled swordfish and mashed taytoes. Unfortunately the swordfish was undercooked, chef "fixed" it but the steak was simply too tough. No butter knife tenderness on this night, but the redeeming quality was the effort the staff made to make me happy. A jumbo shrimp snack was served immediately and an apology but you know what? The swordfish issue didn't faze me because the friendly service and effort were quite wonderful.Baguette and famous tomato dipping sauce was quite good, I think I licked the bowl. The Fall salad didn't thrill me - the greens were fresh, but the pecan dressing was underwhelming. Mashed taytoes were delicious (always loved Chez's silky mashed taytoes).Zarzuela was the hit of the evening. I couldn't get enough of the sultry broth. Was that saffron and Pernod I tasted? No idea but it was so tasty I've already declared a Chez visit will ensue soon.A margarita and Manhattan as pre-dinner cocktails and a bottle of Chardonnay with the mains. Enjoyed it all. Zarzuela and service seriously awesome, attentiveness amazing so the 4 stars are legit. Re-do soon. More...

Our 1st time to try this place & what a fabulous evening we had! We had requested a quiet table as we were accompanied by my 88 year old mother-in-law.  We were led to a super secluded corner table which was perfect. We ordered the bread & butter which everyone had raved about & it did not disappoint! We started with the brussels sprouts which were absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors & textures was outstanding particularly the bacon & maple. Hubby & I split the grilled swordfish. We chose salsa verde as our sauce & basmati rice as our side. Great choices & we gobbled every bite. My MIL ordered the halibut & was equally impressed. The portion sizes were just right. We even had room to split the chocolate caramel tart. A superb evening! Dined here for the first time on a surprisingly rainy October Friday and enjoyed it very much.  Our server was Gary who was charming, quite a character, but very good at his job and entertaining.  He knew the menu, was courteous, fast and efficient. Our meal began with two ice cold glasses of bubbles which we appreciate; just can't get bubbles cold enough in our opinion but these were 36 degrees I'd say.  Our appetizer course was a very flavorful rendition of grilled octopus with chorizo and giant white beans.  Outstanding and something I'd definitely get again.  We both opted for corvina sea bass, pan sauteed.  My date went with the salsa verde preparation and I went with butter; both good choices.  The fist was super fresh and came with a side accompaniment included. Finally, our meal ended with an outrageously good key lime pie.  My oh my, that sucker was tasty!  Highly recommended for ambiance, friendly service, diverse wine and cocktail menu, high quality ingredients and affordability.  We will be back many times to this spot within walking distance. They have excellent wine dinners that are multi-course meals with a different wine for each course. Each course has food designed to pair with the wine. The food and the wines were superb. They also have a parking garage that allows you to not park on the street. A large dinning room is at the back and the pub area is at the front. More...

Just love the service and food here.  Has a traditional vibe here but casual and friendly.  There's Bouzy's Bar attached with a good Happy Hour menu but you can order the same food in the dining room.   I met the owner the first time I came here with a girlfriend and then came again here with my date.  The burger tacos are soooo good.  They're known for their fried chicken salad which is dressed just enough and with the right ratio of ingredients. Key Lime is my fave dessert and Chez Melange version was perfect!!!Will be back!!! More...

Looking for a new restaurant to try, we found Chez Melange to be a very nice delight. Our waiter, Gary named after his mother's favorite actor Gary Cooper, was very pleasant and courteous always there when you need him. The food, we started with some oysters and clam chowder, smoked salmon salad with Nebbiolo wine and then dinner brussel sprouts and seared ahi tuna with green beans and rice, was really delicious. After dinner an espresso and I had the chocolate and my wife had the mixed berry shortcake. We will definitely be back again. More...

When I heard Chez Melange changed up their main dining menu, I had mixed feelings of "Yay I LOVE Osyters!" and "AW, what will happen to the stuff I like at Chez Melange? " Fast forward months later, at last I got to go to Sea Change this past weekend and was happy to see some of my favorite items from Chez Melange still on the menu :)FOOD:Raw Oysters were amazing!! They had 3 different kinds that night and aside from the Fanny Bays the other 2 were a first for me, and all of us enjoyed all 3 kinds very much. I love their blood orange mignonette! If you just take the onions it's basically no different than a regular mignonette but if you pour the sauce over the oysters, you can taste the slightly sweet orange juice!! Pacific Rim Tostadas were pretty good, but for a similar "refreshing side dish" I prefer the Avocado Shrimp Salad that had a more unique "only at sea change" flavor. I would love to try the Yellowtail Ceviche Tostada next time. The octopus appetizer was very good! Perfectly charr-grilled but tender and soft in the middle. I love when restaurants don't overcook the octopus.Truffle Fries were very good as well. I did not think we would devour a full order of fries late into our order but they were pretty addicting. And last but not least, they still have the Chicken Liver Pate i loved from Chez Melange!! There's something about their home-made pate that is just special. Maybe it's the bacon wrap, maybe it's the just-right acidity of the pickles they serve it with. Either way this dish always makes my day.SERVICE:Service was perfect from start to finish. Easy reservations through Open Table &  they called to confirm my reservation.Everyone we encountered at the restaurant from the hostess, servers and bussers were professional, friendly and just wonderful. I wish remembered our server's name cuz she was absolutely delightful. We had ordered a bottle of wine and at one point I reached over to pour some myself, the owner who was walking by stopped me so he himself can pour the wine for us :)I will definitely be back soon, maybe at the little Oyster Bar room next time :) More...

A true gem in the South Bay!  We came here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely exceptional!  The front of the restaurant is a bar / gastropub with a cozy atmosphere with great beer, wine and cocktail selection, outdoor seating with a fire pit (and dog friendly! )Through the back you have the Oyster bar and the restaurant area.  The service was fabulous - our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive, had great suggestions and knowledge about the menu.  The seafood is always super fresh and all of the vegetables are locally sourced at the farmer's market.  The menu has so many options in a wide range of prices.  The owner came over to chat with us twice - a very sweet man you can tell he really loves his restaurant and the people love working there! After cocktails (the list is extensive and all sounded so great) We started with the Hamachi Sashimi appetizer which was served with avocado and grapefruit - perfectly prepared!  I got the Halibut served with English Peas and Fava Beans and mint basil pesto.  The fish was cooked exactly right and a very good portion - much larger than what you would get at other (overpriced) upscale seafood restaurants.  The flavors were so good!My boyfriend got the Zarzuela - a take on a traditional spanish seafood stew.  Basically a large bowl of delicious seafood with a tomato seasoned broth (which was more like a sauce and absolutely delicious!) It came with a tasty french baguette to dip in the sauce and we ate every last bite. For dessert we got the Key Lime Tart and they also brought us out a chocolate type mouse (which had a thicker texture and whipped cream) as an extra treat.  They have a special pastry chef who makes all of their desserts so you aren't getting something that has been frozen.  Oh my gosh the flavors! So so yummy. We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone in the area! More...

Visiting California and was so delighted to find this restaurant! Started off with the sashimi, out of this world, very fresh, served over grapefruit slices and avocado, sprinkled with pink peppercorns. Then we had the Brussel sprouts with honey yogurt, pistachios. I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts but these were very tasty with the sauce and pistachios. Very creative spin on these normally hated veggies! My husband had the chicken liver pate and loved it. We had the seafood tower, the royal and it was almost too much food for two people. Freshest oysters I've ever had. Excellent crab claws. The sauces on the top were exquisite, especially the blood orange, lemon sauce and the mustard sauce. There was also an avocado/shrimp salad served in an avocado shell. I could of eaten 3 of those, so tasty and fresh, even the tiny salad shrimp which normally don't taste that great were delicious. We enjoyed this place so much went back for dinner again the second night and the food was equally as good. This time we had the sea bass with cheesy grits and collard greens with bacon. Appetizers were beet and feta walnut salad, pacific rim tostadas, Poke tuna with cucumber and avocado. Again, everything was amazing!!! Superb service with our waitress, Sarah. We enjoyed each dish she recommended. This will definitely be our go to place when visiting Redondo Beach again. More...

I'm honestly not sure where to begin!  My wife and I have been going to Chez Melange for over a decade.  And we loved it!  Then, Michael and company decide to change it up on us!  Granted, the change wasn't drastic.  But it was a big change nonetheless.  They've kept the overall concept of their dining "center".   Instead of 3 dining areas, with the main being Chex Melange...Chez Melange is now the name of the "center", and in it are Bouzy (exactly the same gastro-pub as has been for years), the Oyster Bar (a small quasi-private room that has a focus on craft cocktails and raw bar items), and Sea Change (which takes the place of their main fine dining element).  While the Oyster Bar is new, it's pretty much an off-shoot more casual spin-off of Sea Change.  Chez Melange evolved into Sea change by chiefly focusing on seafood.  In the past, seafood was a big element of their menu, but now it is front and center.  There are more options at every level from appetizer to entre'.  However, land lover need not worry.  There are plenty of poultry, beef, lamb, and pork to satisfy any carnivore!  With the change in menu, there was also a change of look and feel.  The place was brightened up with lighter colors and brighter lights to give off a more coastal vibe.  Given that it's right near the beach, it seemed a logical move.  My wife and I really like the lighter and brighter vibe.  The great thing, is that while there are some great new and ever changing items on the menu, Sea Change has kept a great number of their classic items that old timers like us love!   Additionally, the staff are still all in full effect with their excellent and friendly service!  Michael Franks is one of the most entertaining, kind and knowledgeable people on earth regarding food and drink!  His pride in ownership is highly noticeable as we can barely recall an evening he wasn't there to greet us and talk to us.   If you've not yet tried it or if you have not been in a while, I highly encourage you to check it out!  Great food, great people, good times! Sea Change is a welcome refresh to Chez Melange. Same building, same owner, new décor and new concept. The restaurant is an institution in Riviera Village (and the South Bay). The South Bay is littered with chefs who use to work for Michael Bell. Chez Melange is a particularly desirable choice because of the convenient below ground parking and their location at the edge of the madness. The same dining room is in the back, down a long hallway, but the décor has hit the reset button. While still elegant, the color scheme and artwork is decidedly inspired by the sea. The light blues and greys with white and silver is very soothing. The service is still quite good and very knowledgeable. Michael Bell is still a gracious host, and it is a lovely place to dine. While there is no kids' menu, they are most welcoming to (well-behaved) children. Our party took a wandering sampler through the menu. I tasted:Hanky Panky ($13): a gin based riff on a Manhattan with sweet vermouth and an Italian bitter liqueur. It was well prepared and used excellent ingredients but was not necessarily my flavor preference. I preferred...Woodford Manhattan ($15): a fantastic bourbon martini with two kinds of vermouth, a toasted bay leaf and a cherry. It leans sweet but is very spirit forward. An excellent drink.Hamachi Sashimi ($10): beautiful pieces of fresh white fish were layered with segments of pink grapefruit and slices of avocado and seasoned with pink peppercorns and smoked salt. The fish was excellent quality. The tangy and smoky combination was unusual but it was all tempered by the creamy avocado.Pacific Rim Tostadas ($12): the best starter that we had. Four fried wonton skins were each topped with a slice of avocado and a slice of ahi tuna and topped with micro greens and a chipotle aioli. Wow! This was brilliantly prepared. The meaty fish stood up to the spicy aioli as well as the ginger. The creamy avocado added an incredible richness and the crispy wonton skin was just the right textural element. Delish.Smoked Salmon Flatbread ($12): a pita was smeared with cream cheese and topped with slices of smoked salmon, capers, chopped cucumbers and sliced red onion. A classic preparation that was well executed and was perfect for the LOs after the super hot red onion was removed.Clam and Corn Fritters ($9): deep fried balls of dough studded with corn with bits of chopped clam served with a little Cajun remoulade are another perfect choice for the LOs. Where can you go wrong with fried bread?Cauliflower ($10): cauliflower rice is sautéed with corn and pine nuts and then tossed in basil pesto and topped with grated ricotta salata. This was a well executed dish that tends toward sweet. The cauliflower still had texture and the basil pesto was obviously fresh. For my own tastebuds, it could have used a little acid, but the LOs loved it.Brussel Sprouts ($10): roasted halved Brussel sprouts were seasoned with Zaatar and lemon zest and topped with toasted pistachio bits and honey yogurt. This was an EXCELLENT dish. Sweet and tangy with crunchy and creamy elements, it plays with your tastebuds and your teeth. I loved this dish.Tasmanian Ocean Trout ($29): had I known how similar this variety of trout is to Steelhead trout or salmon, I would have ordered it rare, but I was impressed that the crispy skinned fish was cooked through but had not of the characteristic dryness that you see in these sorts of preparations. The moist and rich fish was topped with a blueberry sauce made from dried blueberries and served along with a butternut squash mash and fried Tuscan black kale. The tart sauce with the sweet mash and the earthy kale obviously had tons of flavor but it also had amazing textural elements with the crunch from the kale, the creaminess from the mash and the toothiness of the blueberry sauce. This dish was a homerun.Kung Pao Pork Belly ($18): this was another dish that hit it out of the park. Steamed white Sushi rice was served with a HUGE portion of tender pork belly cubes that were sautéed in a chile laced hoisin sauce with Brussel sprout leaves, red bell pepper, onion, garlic and peanuts. The pork belly was not as rich as I expected because it was not overly fatty - it was just right. The sweet and spicy sauce with the sweet and earthy vegetables was just the right combination. It was some of the best Kung Pao that I have had - perhaps only the Kung Pao Sweetbreads at MB Post are better. We were obviously stuffed and could not go on. Our foursome thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and look forward to returning to Sea Change to try more of what the menu has to offer. More...

First of all, let me start by saying that I wasn't super impressed with Chez Melange and bousy before. I have to write this because all the other reviewers really loved Chez Melange and Bouzy. So if any of you reading this was not a fan, here's an objective review. IMO, It was nice for South Bay when there really wasn't anything at all in the way of Modern, Contemporary Cuisine or Nouvelle Cuisine. I'm sure it was at the top of it's game back when it opened in 1982 and probably held a top spot for more than a decade. I've been in the Southbay for the past 10 years. I've visited the Southbay since I was a teen. Only in the recent 7 years has the Southbay begun its boom in the restaurant scene. Prior, you only had Mangiamo, Cafe Pierre, Sashi Sushi and Chez Melange. I came here first in 2006. I was surprised to learn of a restaurant of it's caliber in what I considered the deep South of the South bay. It was good, but if you compared it to Grace, Lucques, AOC, Matsuhisa at the time, it was still, to me, subpar. When I moved to Manhattan Beach in 2009 with my boyfriend at the time and was dying here because of the lack of food scene, we tried Chez Melange again. I realized I liked it even less than I remembered. Keep in mind that all restaurants that last decades often go from great to dated cuisine and decor and hopefully find it's way back again through innovation. So I've gotta give it to Chez Melange for surviving as long as it has. When Bouzy opened, we tried it and it was again, just Mediocre. Well, since being here in the Southbay now for 10 years (married to that boyfriend and with kids) I'm constantly on the search for new, exciting restaurants here in the Southbay. We dine out probably 3 to 4 nights a week and that's not counting the girls lunches and happy hours that happen at least a few times a month. Baran's 2239, Sea Level, S&W, Arthur J's, MB Post, FWD, Hosteria Piave, Nick's, Strand House and Little Sister are our favorites and regular jaunts. Not much as you can see. it can get overdone from time to time. Well, I was excited to see what Chez Melange did with SeaChange, their newest. I love the renovations they did. It really looks nice. Subtle, not over the top, very warm yet nouvelle and cozy comfortable. The staff is always friendly. But the food was top notch. The seafood is high quality, very clean and fresh. The main dishes are creative and delicious without overpowering ingredients. You can really taste the fish. The prices are on par with Southbay and I think they've manage to do better in their pricing without cutting the quality. We had a nice dry riesling that was well balanced and a delight to sip, perfect with our seafood. I was surprised to learn that it was Trefethen. Not a winery I've ever been fond of, but it was nice to see that SeaChange isn't just trying to offer the low pricing, but actually taking the time to find some really nice gems. My husband and I really had a nice time and a very nice meal. We will be adding SeaChange to our repertoire of restaurants in the Southbay. Thank you Chez Melange for adding such a great new seafood restaurant in the Southbay. I want to add that the menu is very diverse and there are offerings for everyone. I can see it will be a regular for us as we are not limited to one or two favorites. We had the shrimp cocktail, octopus with chorizo and the monkfish curry with udon noodles. All were exceptional. But it was difficult to decide as we love hamachi crudo, wedge salad, filet mignon and so many others on the menu. My husband had the housemade baguette and pastured butter with smoked sea salt. Being gluten free, I was not able to try the baguette, but the butter with smoked sea salt was  to dye for and my husband took the baguette home. He really loved it. More...

Met here with coworkers for our end of year dinner. I arrived early and sat at the oyster bar to enjoy happy hour drinks. A couple Bourbon Coolers helped to pass the time . The staff behind the bar were professional but light hearted, enjoying some banter and fun while tending to their customers.  After the rest of my party arrived We transitioned over to the dining area. We ordered a half dozen oysters and some fresh bread to start with. The Fanny Bay oysters were fresh and plump and the baguette pre-sliced and served warm with butter. For the main course I went with the steak done medium, which came with lightly salted fingerling potatoes and mushrooms. The steak was cooked to my satisfaction and I enjoyed the pleasant, natural flavors. One coworker ordered the monk fish while the other ordered a salad.  Both seemed happy with their selections. For dessert we each went a different route. I opted for the Banana Foster, and they each got the Layered Marble Cake and  chocolate cake respectively. Sinfully sweet and good to the last drop. Our server was the tall French gentleman who proved to be as knowledgeable as he was friendly. Overall great time with good food, ambiance, and service. Not on this side of town often, but I hope to be back to enjoy their happy hour or a nice dinner. More...

So we came here for dinner after almost 2 years of staying away (fell off our radar, service and food was always good though).  Owner was there to greet us, he's such a sweet man! Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I came back because a girlfriend of mine in the area  said  the restaurant went through some major renovations. So I was excited to check it out. In all fairness this place would have gotten a sold 3.5 in my book,  but service was awesome and everyone was super attentive and friendly so between a 3 or 4 stars. I'm giving them 4 stars. I don't quite get the Sea Change vs Chez Melange name. So did they change their name to Sea Change or is Sea Change the more casual restaurant out in the front that is also owned by Chez Melange? That evening we got Anita, she was lovely. I noticed a lot of the old items were still on the menu but also a lot of new ones too. FYI, I have always hated the Sicilian spaghetti and sausage dish they have on the menu. It's still there!! Of course I didn't order it. I started out with their poinsettia champagne( cranberry with champagne) delightful! Then I had half a dozen of the hood canal oysters from Washington. They serve it with the typical red vinegar but also passion fruit sauce! My favorite! I didn't even touch the red vinegar. For entrees: - I had the fish of the day which is was Cod (I opted for the leek cream sauce  - I thought it was bland) but the fish itself was very good. Next time I will try the Salsa verde with my fish instead.- The Mr got their Caesar salad, the croutons were a bit too hard but he never eats the croutons anyway. The dressing was perfect. -Ribeye Steak - Cooked Medium, perfect. The fries were not crispy though which was a bummer. -Sides - We got the green beans. My favorite regardless of where I go, so this was good! We'll come back and try other dishes. Cheers! More...

A great place for seafood and other classic items - all at reasonable prices. Michael, one of the owners came by to say hello and ask how things were. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that I feel their wine list is a bit too limited. That being said Chez Melange gets a hearty recommendation! More...

We had the pleasure of dining at Chez Melange twice last week. First of all, congratulations to Michael and Robert on their new Sea Change venue. The updated decor is beautiful, but the food steals the show. Our party of four had the Lobster Kung Pao Style, Shrimp and Grits, Grilled European Sardines, and Ono with (a delicious) Thai Curry Broth and Udon noodles. Everything was perfect! And the Brussels sprouts side dish was terrific. My husband and I returned two days later and enjoyed fresh shrimp and an Ahi tuna steak, cooked just the way we like it. The Budino for dessert was to die for!!! The service is always wonderful (thank you Gary and Drew), but the new menu is not to be missed. If you haven't been to Sea Change, make it a point to go soon. By the way, you can order from the Sea Change menu even if you sit on the Patio or in Bouzy's. More...

We have been enjoying Chez melange for over thirty years. The menu is constantly changing and evolving. For that reason, we were thrilled by the announcement of the partial conversion to "Sea Change. " Sure, you can still get some old favorites but the new seafood menu really drew us in! For starters we loved the Boston chowder, ahi poke, and of course, the calamari. I don't think I am allowed into the restaurant without ordering the calamari! Of the newer offerings, the zarzuela really stood out. A wonderful Spanish style stew chock full of delicious shell fish and other tasty morsels. Then there is my other standby, PEI mussels which were also ample and delicious. Looking forward to more visits in the near future and to taking my family and friends whenever they visit. More...

Sea Change is the most spectacular seafood restaurant in the South Bay! My husband and I are longtime customers of Chez Melange. We are thrilled that finally we have a great seafood restaurant in my neighborhood! The staff is friendly and welcoming they always make us feel right at home EVERY time.We are a big fans of the owner Michael Frank and his Pinot Noir (Frank and Bell). The barramundi and the clam chowder was out of this world.  Even the simple baguette is a must . I highly recommend this restaurant. SeaChange! I'm so excited about the new concept and menu at The former Chez Melange. Went to dinner with my husband last week and discovered an entirely new menu inspired by the North Eastern Seaboard and a charming and relaxed plantation-style atmosphere. My favorite dishes were the clam fritters, shrimp & avocado salad with Russian dressing, corn & cauliflower hash, sea bass, and my guilty pleasure THE BREAD and BUTTER--so good!Surprisingly there aren't many modern SeaFood restaurants in Redondo Area, so it's a wonderful and needed addition. I can't wait to go back and try many more dishes. And I gotta give them credit for the clever name as it certainly is a SeaChange for Chez Melange! More...

Came back to Chez Melange for dinner with my wife. Michael, one of the owners brought us a traditional scotch eggs.  My favorite items, boiled eggs and sausage.  It was like breakfast as appetizers.   We each had the traditional ceasar salad, which was prepared perfectly.  The pita bread and hummus tasted fresh and home made.  The hummus was creamy and didn't overpower the pita or olives.  My wife ordered the flatiron steak and swapped the French Fries for potatoes.  Her steak was tender and very tasty and the potatoes were amazing.  We ordered a side if mushrooms which was served hot and accented the steak.  I ordered the duck Kung pow which was served toon white rice.  The Kung pow duck was better than most Chinese restaurants.  We also tried the cauliflower side dish which had pine nuts.  Every dish was loaded with flavor. We ended with the bread pudding which they make fresh daily.  Course, there was lots of food that needed packing up. More...

Man, what a great little spot! We've been here before, but just for an afternoon cocktail. We came on a Monday night after the gym since it's down the street from our home. I didn't think I would love this place because it's hard to find.... good food, good drinks, good service and good ambiance all rolled into one. We were seated promptly. To my surprise this place had people at the bar and some tables were occupied on a Monday night. I ordered a glass of wine and he had a grey goose martini. For dinner, we ordered the "double double", the truffle fries, the octopus and the escargot toast. Omg !! So freaking good. I was surprised! The owner walked around and was nice and asked how we were doing and if we liked everything. Our server was so nice and easy going, it reminded me of the show "cheers". The vibe I got was so awesome. We have officially decided to make this our Monday night spot! Can't wait to be back. More...

First time at this restaurant found it online through open table for Mother's Day dinner. It's a small restaurant located in Redondo Beach close to the beach. Food was good ordered the ribs and steak. The staff were very friendly made sure that our order was the way that we liked. Came by to check to make sure that everything was ok and that we needed nothing else. I may just return to this restaurant when I'm in this area. Was super pleasantly surprised by this place. The french name had us worried when our friends invited us to brunch but what a cooooool place. When we first arrived, we couldn't figure the place out as the seating for the restaurant is in the back with the pub out front with some comfortable sidewalk seating. First thing that caught our eyes was the 'Flight of Mimosa's' . HAD to have one! Orange, pomegranate, pineapple and mango. Mmmmmmm, mango.  I had the French toast grilled cheese. Excellent. The Mrs went a bit off menu around the crumbled turkey jalapeno sausage and they were very nice about accommodating. The sausage was pretty darn good too. The corned beef 'Reuben Scramble that our friend had was super tasty as well. All in all, a definite keeper. Keep in mind we went at 12:30 on a Sunday and we had the dining area all to ourselves but seating is limited so make reservations for the busy hours. They are close to the beach so parking is on the street and metered but the meters take plastic. More...

When my wife and I dated, we dined at its original location-- very memorable cuisine some 20 years ago. Recently, we attended a wine tasting dinner with one of the top 5 sommeliers in the world. 10 wines paired with small dishes-- all excellent. The highlight was a sizeable scallop, cooked to tender, chewy perfection sitting in a corn 'surprise' (Italian pasta that tasted like couscous) . A whimsical, delicious final course: a lamb patty melt with camembert that matched an earthy syrah and chateauneuf du pape.  From duck with morels to Quail with rhubarb, every dish was exquisite. Plus, on this night, we were given a rich dialogue on French/California wines and how they affect and compliment foods. More...

I ordered the barramundi fish and it was so big I couldn't finish it but was also delicious. I would recommend this place for a special occasion. And if you like spicy, order it with a side of Frank's hot sauce. If you like sharing, this is most definitely the place for you. Also, there are always season vegetables, which I LOVE. What many people don't know is that you can still order from the pub menu in the back. The service was good, the food options when you include the pub menu is varied. We had two different gourmet burgers and they are hard to beat. I had the knife and fork relleno burger and it was excellent. The fries ere some of the best I've had. I love this place. Every family birthday is celebrated here and we've been patrons since they opened at what was the Plush Horse Inn. Tonight was no different. The staff here is always warm, welcoming and familiar. We came to celebrate my mom's 91st birthday. Everything was top notch. My brother had a Cornish hen dish, the fish I had was light and delicious and my mom enjoyed her Buffalo salad. Gary the illustrious French waiter knew us from before and welcomed us warmly. Michael came by to say "hello" - they go out of their way to see that you're enjoying your meal. They're genuine. An extra plug for Gary. I love Chez Melange.  It just never fails to please.Came here for an anniversary dinner, this time.  We were greeted by the owner Michael and taken to our table.  Gary, our waiter, introduced himself.  Gary is French and has all the professionalism of a French waiter but, also, the warmth and humor we appreciate.  Throughout the night the were both attentive without being intrusive and warm without being fawning.  In short, we were made to feel like valued family. The food was delicious, as always.  For an appetizer we had a warm baguette with a smoke salted butter and a warm spinach salad with the expected inclusions.  Both were plenty for two to split.  For the main course, my wife had a lightly breaded sole topped with a collection of warm vegetables.  A delicious couscous was the perfect accompaniment for a satisfying, but light, winter meal.  I had the duck schnitzel.  It was delicious!  Duck fillets were lightly breaded and fried.  Over the top was served a warm blueberry compote that was a terrific compliment to the richness of the duck.  Underneath, was slightly sour German cabbage that played well against the sweet richness of what was on top.  On the side was a small "rye bread pudding".  Its exterior was crunchy.  The interior was soft and moist with the faintest him of rye.  With our meals we had a glass of Cabernet and a French Sancerre.  For dessert we enjoyed a slice of raspberry cheesecake with a raspberry reduction sauce.  The dessert was accompanied by 2 individually brewed cups of coffee.  It was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Two and a half hours later, we were ready to leave after a thoroughly delightful evening.  Although the bill was not inexpensive it represented great value for the experience! Just always willing to get his hands dirty, which you don't see very often. The food is great. Get the beignets if you come for brunch. Always piping hot and delicious. We had yet another stellar dinner at Chez Melange last night, one of hundreds that we've had throughout the years. We have been going to Chez for years and it is one of our all time favorites. The menu offers great variety and keeps changing with the seasons. One of the main reasons for our loyalty is Gary, one of the most professional servers in the South Bay. He goes to great length to give advise regarding seasonal menu items and suggests the perfect wine pairing. even when the place is jammed, he keeps his sense of humor and provides great service. A true gem. During our last visit we had the Octopus appetizer, Brussels sprouts, the seafood pasta zarzuela and the hangar steak. It was all prepared to perfection. More...

Great service and atmosphere. Food is a little inconsistent, but generally quite good. We come here frequently as a couple for date night, or drinks, and when guests visit from out of town we bring them here. Their brunch is one of my favorites in town, and they often have fun live music. We bring the kids for brunch!Love the place overall. I'd like to see them overhaul the menu and modernize a little bit, but really its a star in the neighborhood. More...

Thanks a lot for your amazing customer service! Last night, after a series of small incidents (they were out of what we wanted, the food took a very long time and the fries were cold when they arrived), we were not complaining, we only pointed out the cold fries. The owner came, apologized for the wait, served us more wine and at the end, comped our food! Thank you so much!!! Thank you for going above and beyond good customer service!! It had been a while since I had been to Chez Melange and Bouzys, but I will come back soon. And often. Thank you very much!! More...

Took my sister to Chez Melange for her birthday. We had a reserved table, which the restaurant had decorated with confetti and a "Happy Birthday" sign. With a seasonal menu that changes daily, there were plenty of options that used local, sustainable produce and meat. Our server - Stryker - was very attentive, friendly, and provided great service throughout the night. All of the food was delicious! We ordered the bacon and pecan cornbread with grapefruit marmalade, which was savory, a little sweet, and tangy - it was the perfect starter. We also had the Tonight's Salad and a side of mashed potatoes (which was not on the menu but our server requested special). For entrees, my sister had the duck schnitzel, and I had the Australian Barramundi (sea bass). Both dishes were extremely flavorful and filling. For dessert, our server brought a special birthday cake slice with a candle. The restaurant ambience is cozy and intimate, as well. Overall, an excellent experience, and I will definitely be back! Duck Burger - SO excellent.  It got the award for best dish at the table (see photo).  The goat cheese and the vinegar on the greens went extraordinarily well with the duck patty itself which was perfectly cooked, juicy, and melt in your mouth-y 5/5. Shrimp Po' Boy - This was also a decent sandwich - bread was soft, shrimp weren't rubbery and had nice flavor.  It wasn't spectacularly different in any way, but a solid performance.  4/5Shrimp avocado toast - Very tasty, creamy and fresh avocados and the toast was nice and crispy.  The shrimp were large and well-prepared but annoyingly had the tail on.  I get it needs to be cooked with tail on for maximum flavor but I do not understand why during final preparations the chefs cannot remove it.  I'm always worried I'm going to leave a leetle bit of shell on there!  Either way - it was tasty and I give it 5/5.Meatloaf grilled cheese - this sounded great but didn't end up being very tasty at all.  As a rule, I prefer a creamy and perhaps less-refined quality to my grilled cheese (American cheese not Swiss!) so I had high hopes!  But this sandwich just seemed cheap when the meatloaf was cooked all up in it.  The meat didn't add any salty offset, like a ham or bacon would, just seemed mealy when mixed in with the melted cheese 3/5.Truffle fries - These are VERY truffle-y, whereas at some restaurants it's barely a little smack of truffle oil.  However, as other reviewers have noted the fries do seem a bit overdone.  I don't think it's the age of the oil I think they just leave them cooking for longer than I personally would prefer.  Others at my table seemed to be ok with it tho  4/5.Bloody Mary - My favorite drink at any hour of the day - and this one did the trick!  A nice rich, thick mix is the best for making house vodka palatable. I added a little pepper because that is my jam.  5/5Other things I enjoyed about the restaurant include the ADORABLY decorated patio, dog friendly seal of approval on said patio, and the relatively affordable price for the quality of food. I had dinner here last night with a few friends, and everything was superb. I ordered a glass of Tempranillo, and I had the swordfish for my entree. It was exceptional! Other dishes that were ordered were the chicken Parmesan, rack of lamb, and the scallops. Every portion was large except the scallops. I believe there were only two, which for $27 is a bit steep. My friends all had Moscow mules, and everyone seemed to enjoy them! More...

Reminds me of restaurants in NYC.  Cool bar up front with hip drinks, beer and food, with an amazing chill and delicious restaurant in the back.   The artisan bread is worth the $3.50.   I was surprised the butter was not room temp, but that is the only thing I didn't like.   Everything was fantastic!  My hubby and I share our meals, so we split the Wedge Salad, which was amazing!   I like how they cut it into fours and didnt slather it in dressing.  Just the right amount.   Our main entree was the New York strip with cheesy mash potatoes.  We got the roasted cauliflower with pesto and corn too.   The steak was cooked perfectly pink and the potatoes were creamy fantastic.   The veg was great too.   We rarely order dessert, but homemade peanut butter ice cream was on the menu and it had me at PB.   Hello.  Yum!   I cant say enough about this place.  Everything was just fantastic.  I am mad at myself for living here in Redondo Beach for so long and not going there sooner.  Will be a regular Friday date night place for us. Haven't been here since they were at their old location, found them by mistake while driving to Redondo beach brew Co. Was exited to find their new location so decided to stop in. Ordered some wine and it was delicious, after reading the menu, (lots of odd dishes) we decided to finish our wine and go to Brew Co to eat, before we finished a server was delivering some food to another table and it looked so good we decided to stay and eat, I have Chicken Parmesan and WOW it was soooo good! And VERRY happy we stayed. The reason I'm leaving this review is because I can honesty say I've never had such great service before. Food came fast, drinks and food were EXCELLENT! And the service was second to non. I'll be back regularly now as I live down the street. More...

My husband took me here for my birthday and I loved it! I will definitely be back for more. What we ate:- Started with the baguette, which was AMAZING- Then we had two salads: beet salad and Cesar. Both were very good. There was a bit too much dressing on them, but they were still great- For our main course, we shared a grilled fish. The fish was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and the fish was really juicy and soft- We ended with two desserts: the butterscotch pudding and the key lime pie. Both were sublimeOverall, in terms of food, I'd give Chez a 4The service however is definitely 5+ stars. Throughout dinner, our waitress was very attentive, refilling water and checking in on us without being overly burnsome. In addition, when I told her our potatoe (which came as a side to our fish) was burnt, they immediately made us a new one AND gave us dessert on the house. The new potatoe was delicious and the desserts, as stated above, were sublimeI have eaten at restaurants with 3 michelin stars and the service at Chez was just as good (if not better since they were not pretentious at all, which michelin star restaurants sometimes are) More...

This is our Sunday spot. I found it while looking for a breakfast/brunch place on Open Table. The fact that their tagline is "A Boozy Gastropub" definitely piqued my interest. They have live music in the front area and nice dining area in the back along with a big room for parties (which there's usually a party every time we've been). My hubs loves his steak and eggs and I can not tell you how many restaurants he's veto'd because of bad steak and eggs. Thankfully he loves the steak and eggs here. The Parm Truffle fries are legit. And I have to tell you...even though it might sound weird...a fried egg on top of brussel sprouts is seriously amazeballs. I try to get something different every time and so far, after about 7 meals here, I have yet to find something that isn't tastylicious. Their Bloody Oink is ridiculously addictive. Prices are reasonable, service always on point, and you can bring your dog if you sit outside on the patio. Absolutely love this place. I doubt we will ever try anywhere else for our Sunday brunch. They usually have a few news things on the menu each week and I always wish my stomach were as big as my eyes cuz I want to try everything!Go here. You will not be disappointed. More...

Went here at ten am on Sunday for brunch. The patio is cute but it was too cold to sit outside so we took a seat inside. The decorations are old and a little outdated but if you can get past that the food is great. I got the avocado toast and lentils with egg. The salmon on the toast was fresh and the avocado was creamy. The lentils were good but nothing special. My husband got the French toast with fried chicken. The chicken was great and the ranch dressing was yummy. The coffee was hot and our cup never empty, good service. Will definitely come back to try the dinner menu. More...

I took a large family gathering here the day before Thanksgiving.  We were fortunate to get the back room for groups.  This was really important as the front room had a loud band that would have made dining miserable. The wait staff was responsive and knowledgeable about the rather large menu. Great wines and great food!Chez Melange is not inexpensive, but I think their pricing is fair considering the type and quality of fare they are serving. More...

My husband and I had a great birthday dinner here. He had put that it was for my birthday in the reservation and there was a Happy Birthday sign on the table. We had the pork bits, bacon corn bread and shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and they were all good, but the pork bits were amazing there was a jalapeno liquid that the chef said was a jalapeno au jus that you dipped them in. I had the Asian marinated flank steak and the risotto with it was wonderful. Hubby liked the pub steak with chimichurri and we both really liked the side of exotic mushrooms that we split. More...

We came here for brunch recently and had a nice time. Pros-Beautiful area, good food and nice outdoor seating. I loved the chicken and french toast! It was the perfect combo of sweet and savory! I also really enjoyed the beignets as they were lighter than any other ones I had. It also was pretty kid friendly for a nicer place. Cons- We had called the day before to make reservations and were told they do not take reservations for the outdoor seating. When we arrived, several outdoor tables had "reserved" signs on them. We had shown up before the restaurant had opened so we were able to snag an outdoor table but it just seemed weird that we were told we could not reserve a table. Maybe the table was reserved for regulars? Also, our waiter was a little cold at first and said the kitchen may be too busy to make my family member plain scrambled eggs-she has severe food allergies and could not have anything on the menu. However, he eventually warmed up and the rest of his service was fine. More...

Seriously growing up nearby every teacher every year always raved about that special dinner they went to at Chez Melange at some point in the school year. I never went and about 20 years later was looking on Yelp saw the great reviews and put it in my back pocket (or bookmarked it) Recently we had a sitter so we decided to give it a try as my husband knew the story. I made a reservation for 9pm (it was a Saturday night)We walked up and the outside bar area is just that a bar. We were walked back to a dining area which was packed with people of all ages having a great time. We sat down ordered drinks and started to look over the menu which is different every day. We tried their bacon maple corn bread, a corn cauliflower and pesto dish, an octopus dish, a pork dish, and a salad. To say everything was amazing was an understatement! I mean the food was mind blowing and so incredibly inspiring! Seriously... I am totally going to try my own version of a corn, cauliflower and pesto dish for a dinner in the near future! Neither of us wanted any of each bite to end! We ended on the chocolate pot du creme which I just wanted to put in my purse and take home with me and eat it forever and ever. We found our local adults only date night spot. Cannot wait to go back and eat everything on the menu again soon! More...

This is the best restaurant I've ever been to, hands down. Their menu is full of fresh, perfectly cooked food, with dishes ranging from homey classics to twists on classic dishes that make you look at them in a whole new light. Their desserts are to DIE for - get their pot au chocolate with their four port flight, it's a religious experience - and the server is exceptional. Went to Chez Melange for dinner on Tuesday 3rd March.  What a great find!  The French waiter was excellent and took care of our every need, making some great suggestions too.  We started with cocktails from a varied selection - I had the 'English Mule' which is Pimm's, Black Cherry, Orange and Ginger Beer.  For appetizers I chose oysters which were plump and tasty.  For main course our party of four tried four different dishes - Zarzuela (recommended by the waiter), Osso Buco, Risotto and Cajun meatloaf.  All of them were delicious.  I had a glass of Italian wine recommended by the waiter which perfectly matched my spicy meatloaf.  We were so full that we weren't able to take full advantage of the desserts on offer and could only manage to share a Lemon Parfait which was ... parfait. The owner came by our table to see that everything was going well - that was really appreciated.  In fact, the only slight hitch to the evening was when we arrived and the person on the door seemed a bit clueless about our reservation in spite of the fact that one of our party was already seated in the restaurant behind the bar.  We were beginning to wonder if our booking had been lost but luckily it was all fine.Hope to go back here again and try more of the menu and maybe also some of the extensive list of beers available. Michael and Robert at Chez Melange set the standard for South Bay restaurants more than 30 years ago. That's almost unheard of in the restaurant biz so you know they're
