About

I offer a little bit of everything in the world of photography. After working as a photojournalist for several newspapers I eventually settled in to work full-time as a university photographer. For the past ten years I've also worked as a contract photographer for USA Today Sports Images and have also worked heavily on the side as an event/wedding photographer.

Q&As

Well, first things first, you gotta have your camera settings right. If a photographer doesn't know how to operate the manual functions of their camera they could be in for a lot of trouble when shooting conditions aren't ideal.

But otherwise... I think it takes a lot of anticipation and patience to get some great shots when covering an event. As for portraits, I think the most important feature is to be on the same page with your subject so that they are comfortable and having a good time during the shoot.

Some things to consider are: 1. What kind of photos are you looking for? 2. What is your timeline/deadline 3. When does the event/photo session take place? 4. What kind of budget are you working with? 5. Do you need anything other than the digital files after the photo shoot?

I love the challenge of trying to capture the best image possible. I have a bit of a competitive side, ... and I think that helps drive me to keep working as hard as I can to get the best image possible. (Because let's face it... there is no perfect image... but it sure is fun trying to create one).

It's one of those things that just happened naturally over time. After working everyday in photography, I eventually just started getting a lot of inquires for side jobs. I still work full-time as a university photography, but I work with a great team and have a flexible schedule which allows me to take on a decent amount of side projects.

Simply put... if someone wants to get some quality photography without having to stress about the details, I always try to go above and beyond to get them shots that are better than the ones they're envisioning themselves.
