This resultant is unique. If you want to take a break and eat something different than traditional NOLA cuisine. A James Beard winner with excellent cocktails, food, and service. I highly recommend.

Amazing food, filling portions, hummus is amazing. Love this place. Will be back.
Although, not sure why they felt the need to use a shop vac to clean during operation hours. All well.

We drove two hours to get to this place from Baton Rouge. We also are from NJ. Hubby is working a project down there so we decided to visit this place. We are so glad that we did. This place is awesome. We were skeptical cause we have two children under two and some reviews have mention that it’s not kid friendly. It totally is. We went for lunch. We sat outside. The food is amazing delicious. Everything is fresh. The hummus is one of the best I have tried. It’s airy, fluffy and creamy. The rest of the apps were delicious. The pita! Man I want to take a dozen with me back home. That’s how good it is. Great place to come. Must visit if you’re in NOLA.

Fantastic, fresh food with a great wine list and bar! The staff was very friendly and the aesthetic was light and modern. Would absolutely recommend---and definitely plan ahead with a reservation.

DO NOT SKIP SHAYA!

This is one of the highest scores I have ever had the pleasure of giving to a restaurant! I am extremely happy with my decision to try this place out, the environment originality and value was only trumped by the amazing food offered at this stand out restaurant! The staff were extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their restaurant, as well they should be. The lowest score I gave was for parking and cleanliness, but let me explain before you decide that is a make or break factor. I had no issues finding parking, however as this is a busy area, space for parking is limited at no fault of Shaya. They do have parking designated in the back so do not fret. Cleanliness was something that another customer complained about as fruit flies were becoming an annoyance for her. Admittedly I can attest there were some, and it was annoying but the staff did seem genuinely concerned of her opinion and I don't believe they intended for there to be flies, it is just a part of life.

See below for a breakdown of scores.

- [4/5] Timeliness of Service
- [5/5] Food Quality
- [5/5] Originality
- [3/5] Cleanliness
- [4/5] Price
- [5/5] Value (Quality over Price)

I've only been to Shaya twice, but both times were exceptional. The servers are very knowledgeable and helpful with picking things off the menu if you're unsure about what to get. A true tapas restaurant; all the portions are perfect for sharing and the bread is warm. I got a delicious infused tea my first time there, while my mother enjoyed their coffee. The lamb is tender and everything is quite flavorful. I don't ever eat hummus, but my server convinced me to try their asparagus hummus and I'll be the first to admit that I enjoyed it. It has a smooth and creamy texture, and did not taste at all like asparagus :) It is on the pricier side but well worth every penny. Such a good experience.

Shaya makes typical middle eastern food taste good. It's Israeli style cuisine made with fresh, quality ingredients. The bread is wonderful. I'm never going back to Mona's and Lebanon's unless I'm broke. And dont forget, the damn bread is amazing

The best hummus I've ever had. The pita bread just out of the oven is great. Everything we ordered was great, but the hummus was really the star

Everything was great. The delicious free bread flowed like water from the attentive waitstaff. The atmosphere was mood lighting good for a date. The menu was fun to explore and each bite of the expressive dishes was a mini exploration with your mouth. People know this place is good, so try to make a reservation to make sure you can get into this amazing restaurant

Good place for a quick bite. They serve delicious bread and oil based sauce. Sandwiches are delicious too. The restaurant decor is amazing. Would go back again if I visit NOLA again.

The best hummus and pita you will ever have. Plus many more amazing dips and spreads, all to be soaked up with hot, fresh pita.

THE BEST HUMMUS I'VE EVER HAD.
Everything about Shaya is top notch. The quality is great. The quantity is something that they need to address though. The staff are knowledgeable and are patient in explaining what each dish is, and recommending some of the best food we've ever had.
The prices are slightly on the higher side for the quantity they serve, but again, its worth every dollar spent.

Shaya was a pretty mediocre experience, especially in New Orleans where there are so many great places to eat. Besides the nicely designed interiors, the service was extremely slow and the food was too salty. There was nothing special about the food and it was no better than than local Mediterranean deli down the street from me in New York. I was really expecting something special from this place but it was a total let down and definitely not a James Beard worthy restaurant. Our waitress was also very rude, and when I asked her what was taking our soup and salad so long to come out she replied with “that’s just how our kitchen is.” It does not take 45 minutes to make an over salty Israeli salad and a sweet matzah ball soup when the restaurant was barely half full. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want deli grade Mediterranean food.

The food at Shaya is very different and very good. Don't go expecting average American fare. The food is Mediterranean. There is babaganish, hummus, and many other types of dips. There is lamb, and there are other meats. You think it is not enough to fill you up, but it is! The food is great. And the staff pays attention to details, which leaves a fantastic impression.

We have gone to this place from the very beginning and adore the menu. Absolutely delicious food, worldclass pita. Only but: it's really too noisy (reverberating) at night, for the wide size of the tables. Hard to have a conversation.

This is hands down the best Israeli restaurant I've ever been to. The lamb hummus is perfectly seasoned as is the Israeli salad. They have fresh fire pitas and the roasted cabbage is also delicious. Craft sodas are tasty and the cocktails are great as well.

We wandered in without a reservation and we were seated at the bar where we received excellent service. Sometimes when you eat at the bar in restaurants you get neglected or rushed service, this was absolutely not the case at Shaya. The bar tender understood our dietary restrictions and pointed out the vegan items on the menu and was able to suggest alternatives. The food was absolutely delicious. A few small plates was enough to satisfy us and we had a delicious lemon sorbet for desert. The prices were more than fair for us who are used to nyc prices. Would highly recommend!

Other than being too noisy the atmosphere was festive. The crowd obviously enjoying their meal as well as we did. The lamb dish was amazing Wine by the glass was better than many upscale restaurants. Crowded all the time. Make a reservation in advance.

I actually didn't have a good experience at all... The thing is, I didnt have the heart to drop a star rating by how I was treated there. We ordered some press teas which were great and two orders of humus. The humus was good but felt extremely processed (I mean so whipped that it lost all texture). It also had a roasted peanut taste for some reason but as a whole the bread and toppings in the humus were amazing. I recommend the Lamb humus.

The thing is it was filled with hipsters and snobby people. Like I said, I can't drop a star for this but the waitress piled it on even worse. She made my wife and I feel unwelcome with snark comments. I personally will never be back (so no need to change for me).
