Brooks
As a child, my interest in technology, along with my love of the game of baseball, ignited a life-long obsession with numbers. In the days before “a computer in every household,” you could often find me hunched over a keyboard, feverishly entering historical baseball statistics into a spreadsheet, pouring over the data, and discovering new ways to evaluate my favorite players. Today, I channel this same obsession toward helping my clients save tax dollars by developing customized tax strategies for their businesses. Prior to my work in the accounting field, I provided market analysis services to the real-estate industry. I have bachelor degrees in both accounting and literature, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and am a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi honorary societies.
Accounting and tax preparation services can seem like a dull profession, but it is truly rewarding when assisting individuals and small business owners achieve their financial goals. Being proactive and forward looking is the best way to serve the client. I like to go beyond the "form filling" of many accounting professionals. The true joy is in knowing I have positively affected my clients' bottom lines.
During the real estate market crash of 2007 and 2008, I decided to return to school to find a new profession. After graduating with my accounting degree in 2010, I completed my CPA exams in 2012.
I have experience working with small businesses across numerous industries, including retail, professional, and manufacturing. Additionally, I have prepared tax returns and offered tax planning to individuals from most states across the southeastern U.S., and many from states outside the region, including New York, California, and Illinois.
I have a broad educational background, graduating Magna Cum Laude with bachelors degrees in Accounting and English Literature. The CPA testing process is one of the more rigorous of all professional licensing, requiring a passing score on 4 exams within an allotted time period. Historically, the pass rate for each exam ranges between 40% and 50%. As a CPA, I am required to complete 80 hours of continuing education every 2 years. In addition to 8 years in the accounting field, I also have over a decade of experience in real property valuation.
