Sending my 8 week old german shepherd Leia to this training academy was the best split-second decision I could have made! Due to my mental health, kids, college courses, work, and already having two 14 year old Shiba Inu dogs at home there was no way I was going to be able to train Leia when she suddenly made her appearance into the family . Paula is clearly a true dog lover with professional experience, and Leia absolutely loves being there. While Leia is still a puppy, she has clearly learned so much from the training academy and I appreciate Paula taking the reins on her obedience training for us. It has been 100% worth every dollar working with this academy and Leia will be back in a few months to begin service dog training with Paula. More...

The Wyoming K9 Academy worked with our reactive 15 month old Cane Corso Tibetan Mastiff who struggled meeting new people in and out of the home. He’s been back with us for a week and we can already see a noticeable difference in his interactions with new people. He’s a lot more comfortable in outings and even though he’s still getting used to having new people at our house, there is a notable difference in his behavior. We also love and get a lot of comfort from knowing that the trainer will continue to work we him and us as we need it. That alone makes their board and train worth it. We highly recommend these trainers! More...

will update more when my puppy goes through her training. but I wanted to take a moment to share that first impressions are everything. and thtey did not disappoint. I was already nervous about calling around to look into additional training. every place immediately went to the most expensive option without asking questions or getting really any detail about my puppy. she already has a lot of the basic skills down and needs a little more in depth one on one with distractions and socializing and a few other job specific tasks. this was the only place I called that asked questions, was incredibly friendly, and walked me through multiple options. I'm excited to see how amazing the training is but the phone call alone really helped me feel more comfortable handing over my pup for training. More...

Paula Cooke and Candace Meis are great! My husband has PTPS and he got a pup in 2019. They trained Angel very well. Last month she became a full trained Service Dog. It was lot of work, because Angel was/is a thickhead. But with more consequent, patience and love Paula and Candace managed it. We are so thankful!! Now and then I help to clean out the kennel, do the dishes and the laundry. So I have more insight into how Paula and Candace deal with the dogs. Even the most difficult dogs are trained with patience and love. You can feel that both of them love their job and live it too. More...

K-9 Academy had my Service Dog for 3 weeks. the training they did was decent; however, when they came to pick her up, they came 2 days early and didn't tell me until that day they were coming so I didn't have time to get a bag of her food for them. when they showed up they stated that was OK they could get her that brand. What they didn't tell me when they dropped her off was that they had CHANGED HER FOOD WITHOUT CONSULTING ME. AND HAD NOT BROUGHT ANY OF THE FOOD SHE WAS NOW EATING SO I COULD CHANGE HER BACK TO HER OTHER FOOD. I can't get the food anywhere around where I live. and if they had called me I could have told them the reason she wasn't eating her food (which is why they changed it, they said) was bc she was missing me. this was also why she was whining when doing tasks. But any dog owner or dog trainer should know to consult the owner before changing a dog's food. and if you do, you should bring some of the food with you when giving the dog back to the owner so they can ease the dog back onto her previous food. This is why I am only giving K9 Academy 3 stars instead of 5. My Service Dog is very special to me and she had massive DIARRHEA when they dropped her off. I had to call K9 Academy to ask them why this happened and only then did they tell me they changed her food. Not very responsible of them to do this to my dog and me. More...

So I have to take a second to brag about the guidance I have received. My dogs are my world but I haven't always seen myself as the leader and it was made apparent one night and I had a bit of a panic. I decided I needed to have better skills with my unruly dogs. The girls are now doing well with eachother and I love the new role I have found with them! I truly believe I wouldn't have been able to have done it without the help of the Wyoming K-9 Training Academy. Thank you for helping me be the leader they needed. More...

Q&As

Working with all kinds of different dog. No dog is the same.

My passion for dogs. My background in law enforcement taught me about all of the different things that dogs can do. Then when I became physically unable to do my job in law enforcement do to medical reasons I worked for a while in animal control and saw the need for well trained dogs. If a dog is trained they are less likely to end up in a shelter. During all my years of training and conferences etc. I became interested in PTSD Service Dogs so now I have a non-profit that does that as well.

I have over 15 year experience with all types of dogs, different temperaments and behaviors.

Not at this time. we are working on setting up a program for remote learning.

We are seeing more unsocialized dogs do to COVID.
