The event planning was under the leadership of Ruth Bajimi. What an honor indeed it was to be present at this event! Lisa, Cesar and the entire Dream Events team were fabulous to work with for our daughter's wedding this month! They were very attentive to detail, the food was simply AMAZING (all of our guests could not stop raving about how delicious everything was, and the braised beef with chimichurri was especially a big hit ! !) and they were very responsive and customer-service focused throughout the planning and the reception itself. Hiring a caterer was the most difficult part of the wedding planning process, but Dream Event made that decision so easy the moment we finally came across them. They were well in our budget and had so many food options that included Latin American cuisine that wasn’t just fajitas. During the food tasting they provided us with so many delicious foods to try and provided us with detailed information about what comes included with all their services, and their diligence in accommodating food restrictions/allergies really captured my heart (I'm a fellow girly with gut issues and have family members with dietary restrictions). They were also able to add in a couple of items like street corn and piña and sandia aguas frescas to provide some more Mexican antojitos. Come wedding day, the food was outstanding—our guests raved about the braised beef with chimichurri salsa, the chipotle chicken and the insanely good street corn. The meat itself was so soft and juicy and people kept going back for more. The staff was professional and efficient the entire day, making sure everything ran smoothly and the tables were kept clean. Communication throughout the planning process was excellent, and the beautiful presentation of the food added a lovely touch to our reception. Ruth has to have the most pleasant, most professional, most beautiful spirit ever. I was so stressed just thinking about doing my daughter's graduation party because work and life got so busy. In fact, my daughter and I had just hopped off a plane the day before from shooting a show. I wanted to throw a nice party, but didn't have the bandwidth to do so. I know that it isn't as extravagant as a wedding, but Ruth made my daughter's party feel so special and just as glamorous. From the start, her energy was so incredible refreshing. She made an entire mood board for the party and her presentation and detailed breakdown of services and cost was so transparent. I'm very detailed oriented and after receiving her presentation and quote, I had zero questions (which is saying a lot coming from me). Despite being a full service event planner, she found a way to let my mom feel icluded and provide something special for my daughter's party. As soon as I met with her, my entire spirit just settled and I knew she would take good care of us. I had to convince her to relax during the party and enjoy it with us because as the event coordinator, she was adament about the details of the night running smoothly, but by the end of the night, all of my family and friends were so in love with her. She became family. Everytime I looked up and saw someone hugging her or conversing with her, I got emotional because it was exactly what I wanted. Ruth had no idea the stressors I'd just faced or what I was going through. I'm sure she could sense it when I talked to her, and all she said was, "I'll take good care of you." Dream did the catering and the flowers for our wedding. Our wedding was the only one I've ever been to where guests literally raved about the food. They had a great selection for us to choose from, were incredibly flexible and helpful with our tasting and requests, and then delivered high quality food and service day-of. The one issue we had was with dietary restrictions. As a vegetarian, it was incredibly important to me that all of our guests' dietary restrictions were very thoughtfully addressed. In advance, the team was very helpful and thorough in thinking through all the potential restrictions and making sure there were options for everyone. However, day-of, the vegetarian main dishes were not served to the vegetarians. There was confusion among the servers between the vegans and vegetarians and the 5 vegetarians just didn't get a main dish. When I talked to the team afterward, they were very apologetic and accommodating to do what could be done after the fact to make it right. Other than that, I have nothing but great things to say about Dream. My bouquet, flowers and centerpieces were all gorgeous. Amazing! My husband and I hosted a destination shower of 50 guests. I was overwhelmed, so contacted SPC. Ruth was so easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions or idea's. On the day of the event, her team arrived plenty early, set up quietly and exceeded our decorating expectations. They ebbed and flowed as part of the shower, staying from beginning to end. Ruth recently organized my son's first b-day party at my house. I enjoy hosting events, but don't like the details of organizing, so I reached out to SPC. From the first call to the execution, the process was smooth with Ruth. I booked a call with her quickly and she was detailed and thorough in what the process would look like and what she will do. She came on-site to look at my space and gave visuals of what the day would look like and confirmed what I wanted my vision to look like. I liked how she kept me updated via text on the progress of the planning and and asked me if I had any questions. I trusted her to do the work and only asked questions once in a while if I wanted to confirm something. I was impressed with how quickly she set up the event space with her team - the day before and the morning/afternoon of the event day. I decided the morning of that I wanted 2 extra items at the event and Ruth delivered them on-time. The decorations were really detailed and beautiful, the food was delicious, the cake was really good and the whole party went smoothly and organized. I used the photographer that Ruth recommend and the pictures turned out beautiful. She recommend that I get a sitter for my son for the day of the party so I can relax and enjoy my time with the guests, and I didn't regret doing that. On the initial call, Ruth started off pleasant, nice and very informed. As the time progressed , she was not very helpful. We found our own venue, our own vendors, and caterers. She did assist with getting a quote on what waitstaff would cost us, but that’s it. After we told her originally what decorator we wanted to use before we signed with her , she then lets us know (after we signed her contract) that she has “black listed” the person. I was shocked because not only had we mentioned it, but my mother had as well. She pretty much wanted us to use her references or her. When asked why she does not want to use the decor personnel (who was quite popular and also knew my mother ) she refused to tell us. When we asked her for updates on the wedding planning (basic stuff like have you heard back about the alcohol quote?) she told us “trust me to do my job”. This was her response for everything. Anything we asked, you name it. She was saying this, but in the meantime doing nothing. She eventually “fired us” as clients because we asked her to update us on a weekly basis of all the things we were making progress on. She labeled us as “high maintenance” when in actuality we were expecting the bare minimum. Although she did this, I had no issues with parting ways despite her refusal to refund us. My issue with Ruth was that she emailed our venue at 11:30pm at night stating that we were so difficult to work with and that she would essentially still love to keep them as a contact for her future clients. Keep in mind , my husband and I found this venue for our wedding. It was insane. I think Ruth has a particular client she is looking for. Someone she can bully or control. It is unfortunate we had such a horrible experience but ultimately the wedding planner we eventually hired after her exceeded are expectations. She was truly a blessing ! In conclusion, I would not recommend Ruth to anyone. The Austin community around me spoke poorly about her but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt based on her reviews and also our first encounter. I wish I didn’t . Listen to people who have worked with her directly. She is not really open to any outside opinion or feedback and refuses to adjust even when it makes practical sense. She was combative and very condescending. I wish her the best, but look elsewhere. More...

I cannot say enough nice things about Dream Events, Lisa, Cesar and their staff. My daughter was married 2 days ago and Dream made this event even better! The food was spectacular! Our guests complimented me all night on the quality, flavor of food, variety, and the amazing staff. Lisa and Cesar made this a seamless, stressfree event for me (mother of the bride), Lisa stayed in constant contact with me, returned calls and emails fast, and helped navigate me when we lost our wedding coordinator at the venue. If you want your guests to be talking for weeks about how fantastic the food at your wedding was, hire Dream to cater. Every single person at our wedding RAVED about the food. The team at Dream is so kind and great to work with. There was great communication throughout the planning process, and an attention to detail I really appreciated. At our tasting, they really took their time explaining everything to us, from how appetizers would be served to how the signature drinks would work. We chose a buffet style dinner and had a few dietary restrictions that they seamlessly accommodated. Multiple guests were disappointed when we told them Dream is not a restaurant, because they wanted to eat there again and again. Cesar, Lisa, and the entire DREAM team were a pleasure to work with for the entirety of the wedding planning process. We booked Dream specifically for catering. I first met Cesar for a tasting at their downtown Austin location - he was absolutely hilarious, genuine, and so incredibly accommodating. My husband and I knew from the beginning we wanted fajitas to be served buffet style at the wedding. I visited a total of 3 separate caterers trying the same menu at each. We ended up moving forward with Dream as we felt not only was the food prepared with a bit more personal flair, but also that we felt that Cesar and his team truly cared for us as customers. Leading up to the wedding, I flopped back and forth between the multitude of appetizer choices, which sides to have, the table settings, etc. Lisa was always patient and incredibly responsive with answering my questions, updating the quote, etc. When we got closer to the wedding, Lisa ensured that everything was in order. Dream set a date for the final guest count to be due and in the case that it had decreased since the final payment was settled a time range for a reimbursement to take place - this was something that gave me a lot of peace of mind. On the day of the wedding, setup, serving, and takedown went off without a hitch and I am very grateful. Our guests love the chips and queso bar, the appetizers, and the buffet dinner. The Dream team was kind enough to ensure that two plates were sent to the bridal suite so my husband and I could enjoy our meal together before joining our guests. SPC and Ms Ruth were so amazing. I live in Virginia and threw my dad a surprise retirement party in Texas. Ms Ruth did all of the planning and made his day so amazing. The details in the decorations were so amazing. The venue she found was the best! The food was good and the DJ, Photographer were great. Ms Ruth made it so much easy for me to plan my daughters 1st birthday in New York the weekend before my dads retirement party, and not have to worry about anything. It’s so refreshing to meet professionals that understand their trade and know how to execute! We engaged SPC event management to help us throw a 70th birthday party for our beloved mother with exactly 4 weeks before the event date and only a venue secured. SPC was responsive, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful literally from day one. They were able to completely take over decor, event coordination, vendor sourcing and negotiation , they even helped us review the contract with venue and negotiated better services, ensuring we are getting the most for our spending. As organized as they were leading up to the event, it was the day of the event itself that was most impressive. It’s not often that an event or a concept turns out exactly as conceived in planning but it honestly was flawless execution from start to finish all of the vendors sourced and recommended by spc (catering, MC, DJ ) knew exactly what was expected and delivered quality service. Venue staff had been thoroughly briefed and worked together with SPC staff ensuring a seamless flow to the evening! Ruth Bajimi and the SPC team were truly worth EVERY SINGLE penny and went over and beyond what we expected. my only regret was that we didn’t hire SPC earlier. It was truly impressive how they stayed within our budget and delivered fabulous decor , food and entertainment. The florals at the wedding were beautiful exactly what we wanted. However the planner …the execution of the day … HORRIBLE! ! I’ll just highlight a few , to maybe help some one not be so stressed on their beautiful day. She was paid to do save the dates!! Did not. She was late to rehearsal by 20 minutes. Causing dinner to be late. No apology . Have no idea what time she finally got to venue day of but it was noon or later . It was a 5:30 ceremony. Venue was not set up when guest were arriving. Family and friend were setting up welcome table and champagne wall. Line up of groomsmen wrong, forgot to cue bride. Serving order of food disaster . No one to cut cake so mother of bride did it. While she ran around taking pictures and videos. Party favors not opened. Brides table not set up right . This is just a few. So not worth what we paid. More...
