Do NOT use these guys I’ve been a General Contractor for 40 plus years and have dealt with dozens of architects and these guys are the WORST They promised plans in 6 months and it took them over a year! I I could hardly ever get a hold of them once the contract was signed, Especially Daniel who is the one that met me originally and did the quoting and promises etc.. On top of that, they had all these “ extra” fees” and it cost me much more than what they quoted. On top of that, I did most of the design myself. I took so long for the plans to get through the city of IRB, I lost my financing that I had lined up, so I put the build in hold. My house got flooded from Helena, so I contacted them about rebuilding using the same plans, they want to charge me $2500 for the cad drawings to send to another architect to do any updates the city may need. No integrity whatsoever. More...

Daniel is extremely knowledgeable regarding codes and statutes specific to a number of different types of buildings. While the process to finalize plans may take a while, it's because of the level of detail and expertise Daniel integrates. I wouldn't hesitate to use Daniel's services in the future. More...

I have had the privilege to work with Daniel on multiple occasions. To understand the complexities of construction it is wise to hire an architect that is capable of guiding you from start to finish. Daniel is exactly that architect. He is sharp, advanced, and a great communicator. His portfolio should speak for himself.

There are different design and construction models that an owner can choose from to get through design and construction that leads to occupancy of the building or space. Here are two common types:

1) Traditional (the most common): Owner hires an architect, and owner also hires a ‘builder’ or ‘general contractor’. The separation of agreement between architect and contractor is not uncommon but is usually more of burden for the owner, and almost always with conflict between the three parties. Keep in mind; there are also differences between state builders and state certified general contractors, so be sure to review each as each has a different type of license, and one has more limitations and perhaps less knowledge than the other. The traditional method is not the most owner friendly method and usually is not as cost effective as the next type to be discussed. It can be a difficult task for the architect to constantly need to justify drawings to the owner because the owner inadvertently hired a change order hungry contractor, which is extremely common. Additional costs from contractor and architect are almost guaranteed to owner.

2) Design Build: The owner has the ability to contract with only one party, The Design Builder is either a joint venture between architect and contractor, or one company with both the license of architect and with contract administrators or licensed contractors. The slightly higher upfront costs are usually offset with an overall project savings from a tighter management style.

I bring this up because after 25 years in the industry, I find that there are way too many similar arguments between the owner, the owners contractor, and the owners architect. Ask Daniel about the Design Build process, he will most likely prefer one method over the other. Each contract type has its pros and cons and there may be only one type suitable for your project. Daniel explains this well.

Super unprofessional, roped me into paying him $750 for a drawing that I would be able to show a general contractor to get a quote on a commercial build out. I showed his drawing to two different general contractors and neither of them could work with it. It didn't show any electrical outlets, no plumbing, no wall heights, nothing. I gave him a $375 deposit and didn't pay him the balance because I figured since the GC's couldn't work with his drawings he'd fix it. Nope. He then tried to convince me to pay him more money to get a "hard quote". No thanks. I paid him his full balance and I might as well have done the drawings myself. If you’ll notice in the response from the owner he said he was not paid for the work (which he was I certainly paid) but I did withhold the payment for a time because he said that I would be able to get quotes from contractors... and I never got that. He also said that I didn’t put him in touch with the contractor when I certainly did I literally had the contractor call him! The contractor said he couldn’t work with the info that he got from a Daniel and declined the job as a result. Daniel cost me precious time (he took FOREVER to get it done) and money, not to mention bending the truth in his response. More...
