I love this place! Andrew was wonderful at communicating all the progress his team have made with my dog in his training. They were all to happy to teach me some techniques that I could use while at home to maintain my dogs training . It was definitely worth bringing my dog here for off leash training. I have not had any issues so far outside of the house with my dog since he's completed his training. More...

If you are feeling desperate or overwhelming with your new dog/puppy I highly recommend putting your dog through this ruff pup training, we adopted a 7 month old rescue puppy who had been surrendered 2 times before we adopted him and we had no idea what was in store for us. After the first week of having him we were extremely overwhelmed and we needed help asap, that’s when we started looking for some help, that’s when I found ruff pup. We started his training just over 2 weeks ago and we are absolutely amazed with his progress. We are now able to walk our dog with out him freaking out or pulling, he also is building confidence in him self and we are now able to take him into stores with us and he remains calm and he stays right next to me and for the first time last week he started self soothing and settling in our home. We have 4 more weeks left with his training and I will update this post with more information when he’s all done. Thank you so much ruff pup. More...

My 10-year-old daughter became distressed and started crying after seeing my dog with a restraint around his snout while he was barking at the trainer. Instead of handling the situation with empathy, the trainer chose to speak directly to her rather than to me, her father. He told her that if we left and the dog ever attacked someone, our dog would end up being killed. Saying something like that to a child who was already crying was completely insensitive and irresponsible. When I explained that my daughter struggles with anxiety and depression and that we needed to leave, he showed no empathy or respect for our decision. Instead, he raised his voice in a very arrogant and intimidating manner, pressured us to stay, and tried to scare us by saying that other trainers would charge us thousands of dollars. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in my entire life. I would never return to this place and I do not recommend it at all. What I experienced was a combination of unprofessional behavior, poor judgment, and a shocking lack of compassion toward a child who was clearly experiencing an emotional crisis right in front of him. I am confident in my ability to raise happy, balanced, well behaved dogs. But, as a working professional needing to balance a very energetic puppy and work, I found myself looking for some help. My puppy started Daycamp when she was 12 weeks old. I've been so happy with how she's come along, and what a good dog she's becoming, that I have extended her time in the program TWICE, and will continue to work with the Ruff Pup team!My spicy little Minnie is excited when I drop her off, and happy(and frequently sleepy) when I pick her up at the end of the day. It's such a weight off my mind to know she's is getting the opportunity to train, play, rest and socialize when I can't be with her. If I could give negative stars, I would. I had high hopes for Ruff Pup Training, but my experience was extremely disappointing. The program felt far more like an overpriced puppy daycare than an actual professional training service. A lot of the time it seemed like I was paying someone to simply watch my dog while I was at work instead of actively training and addressing the behavioral issues I signed up for help with. The main concerns I had for my dog were never worked through in a way that felt structured or effective, and I left feeling like there was very little measurable progress for the amount of money spent.Another thing that really turned me away was the attitude toward people interested in e-collar training. In my experience, anyone who mentioned e-collars seemed to be judged harshly or made to feel like they didn’t care about their dog, rather than having an open and respectful discussion about different training methods. The weekly classes after the program also felt more like social gatherings than actual training sessions. Personally, I signed up expecting more focused training, structured exercises, and practical work with the dogs rather than long periods of discussion with limited hands-on training.Overall, I personally felt overcharged for what ended up feeling more like a social club and dog-sitting service than a serious dog training program. Based on my experience, I would not recommend it to people looking for focused behavioral training or clear results.I did use a different display name for privacy reasons, but I was a client in ruff pups training program. My intent wasn’t to be anonymous in a deceptive way, just to leave feedback without my personal information being publicly tied to it.My main concern was that I expected more structured, hands-on behavior modification work for my dog’s reactivity toward other dogs. While we did attend the program and weekly classes, I personally didn’t see meaningful long-term improvement, and my dog still struggles with the same issues months later. And again I would not recommend Ruff Pup to anyone More...

I am a first time dog mom and I had no clue what I was doing. I felt so overwhelmed with my puppies energy and 2 kids. My dog freaked out for HOURS if he was put in his kennel and absolutely nothing would help. So I started looking for Dog Training centers with affordable prices. I called at least 10 different places spoke to multiple different trainers, but the sensitivity and the energy at Ruff Pup Dog Training and Andrew made me feel a lot more confident that I was making the right decision so I went with Ruff Pup Dog Training. My dog still has his exact same personality but now knows that when it's time to calm down, it's time to calm down. He is absolutely amazing in his kennel! Our experience with Ruff Pup Dog Training was Awesome! Our Bernadoodle "Summit" just turned one when he started training with Andrew & his team. They worked 5 days a week with him on numerous obedience behaviors. Including: staying on place, loose leash walking, sit "stay" when opening a door or prior to entering the road from the sidewalk & also to sit "stay" while handler goes out of site. Recall with the E-Collar training has been a game changer! Ruff Pup location provides distractions from everyday patrons entering or leaving the mall "which is good, allowing the dog to maintain attention with the handler." The small group training, provided great socialization skills. One of our favorite things was hearing enthusiastic responses about "Feild Trips" to Sportsmans Warehouse, At Home furniture store, The Home Depo & the local park. Videos, pictures & excitement were shared each time! We could tell Andrew genuinely loves his job, which shows how much he cares for the dogs he is training. It was exciting for us to go home with different tricks & tips on "how to better train" with our dog. Ruff Pup set Summit up with a strong foundation & has helped us to better understand ways to work with our Bernadoodle. We are excited to continue our journey with what we've learned & keep up our consistency with Summit! THANK YOU Andrew & the Ruff Pup TEAM 🐾‼️🐾 More...

Andrew and Bentlee should me how to work with her on her reactivity. She learned so much and is much better behaved. My other dog is really nervous and got really reactive when she saw someone was coming towards us. Andrew and Bentlee showed me how to practice with her and helped me learn to deal with the anxiety she has. It was so helpful to see how they practiced with her so I can keep practicing with her. They were really patient with her. They were willing to meet her at her level and were willing to work with her even if it took a little longer. I really appreciate. The evening classes are great. It helps me work with both dogs by having training a couple of times a week. I also have learned how to better work with my dogs. I can ask questions about how to get a better response from them. The dogs run to the garage when I tell them it is time to go to doggie school. It's a fun for both of us to practice at class. It is a time we both look forward to. More...

I am so grateful we ended up going with an alternate training camp, because the people who work at Ruff Pup Dog Training are unprofessional and immature. My husband and I are both in college and have two rescue puppies who are the sweetest, but needed a little help with training for an affordable cost with the limited time we had. Ruff Pup reached out and when I mentioned that we had found a cheaper option, I received over a 250 word text about how they were the "best" dog training in Utah and we shouldn't go with anyone else, because all other dog trainers in all of Utah who offered a 1 week course instead of their "superior" 4 week course would be scamming us. They said if we went with another company we would be wasting all of our money and end up "rehoming" our dog because of it's "untrainable behavior." Now I understand dog training is no walk in the park, but I am NEVER going with a company that has so much ego that they have to waste my time and energy to prove that they are the best and everyone else sucks. And then say that I'm not a loving enough dog parent that if another company can't "fix" my dog then I would give them away. That is such a negative and sad way to treat and think about dogs and their training. If I were you, I'd turn away and look at a company that cares enough to treat their competitors and their possible clients with the upmost respect, instead of treating them like they are negligent and uneducated. If you are needing help with DOG TRAINING, I highly recommend Ruff Pup! I’ve had animals my whole life and after my two previous golden retrievers passed away, I finally caved in and got another golden retriever because I’ve had such wonderful experiences with the breed. Much to my surprise this time, my dog, Duke, has been very frustrating to train. He’s smart enough to learn the commands, but too stubborn and reactive to follow through with them consistently. I found myself wondering if it was the right thing to get this dog (as a dog lover, I was caught off guard that I’d ever even have that thought). I decided to reach out for professional help. I had done group training sessions with Duke beforehand (NOT at Ruff Pup), and while the class was likely helpful to others, it wasn’t helpful for Duke. He was the star of the class because he could do all his commands - until - he didn’t want to. This made it difficult to really enjoy having my dog because I couldn’t trust him in public settings and I found myself preferring to leave him at home rather than risk it. I wondered how I got into this situation. I imagined having a different relationship with this dog rather than the current feeling of being nervous and frustrated to have my dog in public or even outside my front door. I didn’t feel confident inviting friends over because Duke was so embarrassing. I felt sheepish in front of my neighbors and I would never choose to take Duke to a public park or store. I reached out to Andrew with Ruff Pup wondering if he could take Duke in for the board and train program. I wasn’t so sure what they could do differently since training dogs wasn’t a completely foreign concept to me, but, I knew I needed help because nothing was clicking for me and Duke no matter how many approaches I tried. Fast forward four weeks and I am now so happy with my well-behaved golden retriever, Duke! I take him on car rides, we enjoy walks, he listens better. I was skeptical that much could change in only four weeks, but I assure you, everything has changed. In a nutshell, I feel like Duke has finally settled into himself. Duke seems less reactive, less stressed, less stubborn - and more confident, more eager to please, and he is a joy to have as company. His temperament has been such a delight. I am so glad Duke went to Ruff Pup for training. It was totally worth it!! Thank you, Ruff Pup, for giving me the rest of Duke’s lifetime to ENJOY him! More...

Don’t come here. For being a business that caters to dogs he’s very hostile and aggressive. The business seems to be already slow you’d think they’d want more business. .I was walking my tiny Shih tzu in the mall without a leash but had already talked to the security mall guard about it being he’s a service animal. He said it was fine so I continued to stroll, passing this store with no customers the guy with a baseball cap, (I assume the owner) and a lady were standing outside the guy was being hostile and yelled at me saying my dog needs to be on a leash..this is crazy behavior, you’d think he’d want someone to visit his store and buy supplies maybe? Even after I walked away he followed me with his eyes glaring at me. Bad way to do business, will not recommend anyone here who has dogs. He doesn’t seem like someone you can even trust to train your dogs. Response to your reply: I’m glad you appreciate my review as you should reflect on your horrible mannerisms. You were the only person in the entire mall that had an issue with my little dog FYI. I didn’t know that you’re the mall manager and make the “rules”. Speaking of rules, specifically leashes, since you can’t do your research I will kindly help you “ The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) allows for these devices to be waived if the individual's disability prevents them from using them or if the devices interfere with the service animal's ability to perform its tasks effectively.” The ADA also does not require the pet of assistance to wear any form indicating that they are a service animal.(tags, vests, or harness). I will not need to explain myself further as clearly you a very ignorant, uneducated and dare I say nosy individual. I feel bad for you that you are a man that is afraid of a tiny fluffy dog, that sounds like a personal issue to me, and not a concern for the well being of others as you claim. Hating a little dog says more about your ethics and the way you operate business so I’m more than happy to take the time to inform people of your rude behavior. I was only a passerby and got this treatment. I can only imagine what happens to the dogs behind closed doors. More...

Q&As

I love working with dogs and people. My goal is to help people understand their dogs and what their needs are. By doing that we can enrich the lives of the dogs we work with and make them as happy and fulfilled as possible.

My own dog, Charlie. He was my first dog that was my own. I found a real joy and happiness in learning how to train him and soon others were asking me for tips and help to train their own dogs. That was when I realized I have a gift for dog training and helping people

I have been training dogs for the last decade. I have a system that is simple and easy to follow. I don't believe in over charging for my services and prefer to charge what people can afford. I guarantee my training with unlimited follow up sessions and unlimited group classes for the life of the dog.

I do not provide my services online or remotely. I prefer to work with my clients in person.

I never go to work sick and I ask that my clients reschedule any appointments we have if they are sick.
