After reading positive reviews for this magician I was really looking forward to hiring him but was very disappointed and dissatisfied with his lack of communication and professionalism. I confirmed the party date and time with someone on Monday and then immediately got an email that they hadn't heard from me in days which wasn't the case or acceptable. They told me my party was moved to the waiting list cause I hadn't responded but I had. When I tried to clear up the confusion nobody tried to fix the situation or book the event. Not Nathaniel or whoever was emailing me. Then I was told (after our party had already happened) that he wasn't available. My 7 year olds heart is broken. We called This magician and he booked our event and took our money only to tell us two days beforehand that he had another show booked at the same time and couldn't do our sons birthday . We had to change the theme of our party last minute and try to find someone else. This was very upsetting. Now I guess we have no choice but to go to a competitor and book someone else. Nathaniel was the entrainment for my wife's 50th Birthday. He wandered around the party and did up close magic for the guests. Everybody really enjoyed his performances. There were people in different areas of our property and Nathaniel visited different groups so that every could be regaled by his talent. In fact, every guest got to see several performances. Before the party, Nathaniel requested some background on my wife's interests. I really appreciate that Nathaniel incorporated this information when he performed for her. Nathaniel also made sure to show her magic a couple of times during the party, and had a final trick just before he left. I felt personal. A great gift for my wife. Update: My 7-year-old son just took Nathaniel's Virtual Summer Magic Camp , and absolutely LOVED it. Â He looked forward to it every day, and is still showing random family & friends his magic.For a really reasonable fee, Nathaniel sent an extensive package of props, held 2 hours of class a day for 5 days (where he taught a handful of kids on Zoom really interesting tricks, encouraged them to perform, "critiqued" their performance in a really constructive and kind way), and also sent a video of the class so they could practice later. Years later after seeing him at a party, we hired Nathaniel for our own son's birthday party. Â It's still a lockdown, so we opted to do it via zoom. Â He amazed all the 9 year olds at our party and somehow managed to be engaging, funny and interesting despite the zoom medium. 5 stars for both Magical Nathaniel's birthday party package and for his magic class/workshop! First, for my son's 7th birthday party over Zoom, Magical Nathaniel was the main act. We had about 25 families on the Zoom video (with about 40 kids total ranging from ages 3 to 9), and we planned for the package where he does a ~30 min show + ~15 min lesson. Magical Nathaniel was incredibly entertaining, engaging, professional, organized. His tricks wowed all ages including adults, and he was able to make it very interactive, allowing for multiple kids to "participate". He exceeded my expectations and several families commented how fun the event was. Second, we had such a great experience with Magical Nathaniel, that my family took his 1h (and very affordable) magic workshop. We learned some really cool tricks that even my 7 and 3 year olds could do, that used everyday objects around the house and that has already impressed our family. Magical Nathaniel was SO GOOD with all the kids in the class, despite them being at different ages and levels. He knows exactly how to work with the Zoom controls to spotlight/mute/unmute to make it very interactive but not distracting. Had booked a magic summer camp class with Magical Nathaniel. Our son ended up not being able to learn anything from it and many of the instructions for the tricks were confusing and hard for even us (as parents) to pick up. Magical Nathaniel just performed for my family for the second time. My daughter loves him so much she's had him two years in a row for her birthday. Â I was really worried how it would all work out on Zoom, but honestly the show was equally as amazing. We had kids from ages 2-7 and a bunch of parents. Â Everyone was having a blast. I got so much positive feedback. Zoom can be so challenging, but he was so engaging and magical. Â He really is an exceptionally talented magician. During the crazy times of Covid-19 and sheltering in place, Magic Nathaniel as my daughter called him was magical. We had a Zoom bday party will well over 60 people and he was able to entertain all old and young. How long have you been interested in magic?
I have been interested in magic since the age of three! I saw World's Greatest Magic and was hooked. I got my first magic kit and the rest is history. I have been performing just about my whole life. I did my first show in third grade and have been a professionally performing magician for nearly 15 years.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
Each show is unique and customized for the situation, but you can expect to see incredible original magic you have never seen before as well as lots of fun and interactive elements. Each performance is special because I play off of the energy that the audience provides, whether that is in a close up or stage setting. I perform magic with everyday objects - card, coins, money, phones, Rubik's cubes, and so much more! You will even get to see magic that was recently featured on national TV on the hit show Penn & Teller: Fool Us!
What do you love most about your job?
I love that I get to bring joy to people of all ages from all walks of life. Magic connects us in an incredible way and transcends beyond race, religion, politics, and even language. It is something that truly allows us to go back to our childlike sense of wonder and I love giving that feeling to all of the people who watch my magic. I love getting to meet new people and be inspired by the impact that magic can have on their life.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always wanted to make a living as a magician and I am grateful that it has been my full time job since 2016! It's not easy but I love getting to entertain people professionally and make a living from it. Though I have a degree in applied mathematics and theater from UC Berkeley, I decided that I would enjoy getting to entertain people more than what I would get out of a job related to my degree. With people like you, I am able to continue to peruse my passions!

I view magic a bit differently. Aside from creating my own original magic, my approach is to just make sure everyone has a good time. It's not about ego, or how much better I am than you because I can do magic, but more that I can help create moments for others and do that through my magic and likeable personality. Yes! I pivoted at the beginning of the pandemic and offer both shows and workshops remotely. Feel free to check out more at segalmagic.com/online-shows or VirtualMagicClass.com. I was the first person ever to win a magic contest on virtual magic and have since lectured for various organizations on how to properly host virtual events. I have invested heavily into this platform and have state of the art video, audio, lighting, and streaming so you can be confident that the event will go smoothly. The show is both high tech and interactive with mind reading and close up magic happening over Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. You will have to see this show to believe it! This has been popular for corporate team buildings and happy hours as well as private events.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I am currently fully vaccinated (Moderna) and can perform at a distance with or without a mask. I have adapted many of the routines in my show to be more accommodating of social distancing and have limited the audience interaction. I am willing to adapt elements of the show based on your comfort level and want to make sure you and your guests feel safe. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I will work to make sure I adhere to all changing guidelines. I also get regularly tested to make sure I help to slow the spread of Covid-19. I am looking forward to performing a fun and safe show for everyone!
