My name is Steve Hickman. I, along with my wife, own Metroplex Investigative Services. I began my law enforcement career in 1988. I retired in 2018 after a little more than 29 years of service. I had been a police officer for a little more than a year when I was promoted to Detective. In that position I worked multiple assault cases, fraud, criminal mischief, sexual assault, all juvenile cases and even a gang related homicide. The gang related homicide launched the creation of the North East Street Crimes Unit which I was fortunate enough to become a founding member of. In that position I worked a plain clothes assignment for four years before rotating back to patrol. While in the gang unit we worked assaults, sexual assaults, drive-by shootings and robberies. We were able to work under cover on two separate occasions to work murder-for-hire cases which we made arrests on. In 2003 I was promoted to the rank of sergeant. While a sergeant, I was able to train recruits in a field training officer position. In 2006 I was moved to the position of Detective Sergeant over the Criminal Investigations Division of the department. While in that position I was allowed the flexibility of setting up stings, surveillances, and case assignments. In 2009 I rotated back to patrol, There I became Sergeant over the Honor Guard, senior patrol sergeant an I was instrumental in establishing and assigned Sergeant over the Bike Patrol. Upon retiring, I entered into church security and subsequently security as a whole. Beside the many certificates and accommodations while in law enforcement, I have since acquired my level 2, 3, and 4 security license from the state of Texas. I am a level 2, 3 and 4 instructor and I an NRA pistol instructor. I also hold a private investigator license. I currently have two expandible baton instructor certifications. I have trained multiple police officers and multiple civilians in the proper use of an expandible baton. For thirty years I have trained in multiple martial arts and defensive tactics. For the last fifteen years I have taught multiple students in the discipline of Krav Maga. Krav Maga is a system developed by the Israelis. While in law enforcement I was the departments defensive tactics instructor. Since entering the private security sector I have experience in investigations, electronic sweeps, security camera installations, and personal protection. I still teach security guards to get them certified and licensed through the state. I have trained women in self defense as well. I have been married for 36 years and have six children and 14 grand children. I currently work security at the church my wife and I attend.
