I am editing my original review and amending my 5 star rating to 2. Why? It has nothing to do with the groomer, Molly. Molly IS a 5 star groomer. My issue is immediately following my first experience (and I mean IMMEDIATELY like same day) I have been inundated with hard sell follow up pitches by email, phone and text . Multiple and incessant pitches per day. When I didn't respond to a recent text I Received a text "Jeannie?". Obviously they can't take a hint so I've resorted to blocking all of their contacts. It is vastly more expensive to acquire a new customer than to keep an existing one. Constantly badgering a buyer ensures they buy once and never return. Did I mention they're also seriously overpriced ? I learned my best grooming option for my 14.5 yr is the mobile groomer while also learning the last groomer I'd ever use again is this one. More...

This grooming company, didn't do what I asked them to do! I spoke with them on the phone when scheduling my appointment and told them I have a Yorkshire Terrier 4 years old named Cupcake! I requested a Yorky Cut! And did they have anyone who specializing in that particular cut, and they said yes, and I said I, definitely wanted a groomer, that was her specialty! I also showed them a picture! I also requested to pay extra for the anti itch shampoo and conditioner...My baby was skinned so low that I didn't recognize her! She came in and ran under the sofa and I knew then she didn't like the experience! She was also itching uncontrollably, and I noticed on her was shaved down to her skin in places! I called Kontota, the next day because we didn't get any sleep! She was scratching nonstop! They told me it wasn't anything that they could do and they wouldn't give me back any money! I took Cupcake, to her to her vet @Banfield and spent 98.00 on prescription medication and extra for an allergy shot! Please don't allow your animal to be abused and treated like my Cupcake! It was an horrible experience! I called them and was crying and that's when they said it wasn't anything they could do! And wouldn't refund any of my money, and I hadn't brought it up about any money! Please, beware! She had another Mobile Grooming Company, named BarkBust!, where she had gone for a long time! Our groomer, Jonathan, was amazing. Hands down 100/10 and would recommend him 100% percent. He was so patient with our baby since it was her first grooming, she was so nervous but he managed to work with her at her own pace. Jonathan did not give up even with the impossible case we gave him with our husky’s winter coat shedding. We had our 2nd groomer from Kontota come a 2 weeks ago. We chose Kontota because our first groomer was AMAZING and clearly cared for our girl and she came in the door looking fluffy and happy. This did NOT occur two weeks ago. The groomer, from the beginning, told my husband that our double coated Bernedoodle might need to be shaved. What? My husband made it clear that is not what we wanted. Well, that s exactly what she did. Since that appointment, our loving and happy dog has been very clingy and not herself. We left a review when we received the text to do so and received a call shortly after. We explained everything that went on, the lady who called pulled up both photos of “final product” and could see what we were saying. We were told we would receive a call back as they needed to do an investigation. That has not occurred and we will never use this company again. Besides the shave, not cut that went on, the customer service has been sub par and we spent a lot of money for a grooming and groomer that does not to appear to have lovingly taken care of our dog. If I could give them a negative five rating, I would do that. It was a disaster from start to finish. I filled out the paperwork but not even sure they read it. I had requested a 3/31/26 appt and they changed it to 3/30. Why ask when you aren't going to allow the requested date? I also told them my dog was large, weighed 63 lbs and was an 11 yr old Golden Doodle. They also said Natalie would be my groomer. Then the morning of the 30th, they texted me and said my groomer would be Kaitlyn. She arrived on time but they set her and my dog up for failure because in the van was a grooming table that was small and apparently very wobbly. When I saw the table, I should've just said no thanks but I thought I would give them a try because of their high ratings and reviews. Kaitlyn called me about 5 minutes later and said it wasn't going to work because my dog was so scared being with someone she didn't know, she was shaking all over and the table was too wobbly. She said maybe I should consider rescheduling the appt. I said no, I would come and get her. They not only traumatized my dog but they also injured her. When she lays down, she can no longer get up on her own. It was a total disastrous experience; certainly not the smooth, wonderful experience I was lead to believe. Do not recommend … it’s luck of the draw who you get to groom. Some good some not. They also overcharge and are misleading on pricing and when they have a scheduling mishap they refuse to make it right on customers behalf. This review is based on using Kontota for nearly 3 years. In that time, every single groomer I have gotten is different. They have a very high turn over rate, which tells me they aren't paying their techs enough, or there are fundamental management issues. I have a golden retriever. He is very sweet and sometimes shy. The first few times I used Kontota, the experience seemed great. The groomers i got seemed to genuinly love being with animals. I would get pictures during the process, and they would usually do some sort of silly little bandana or something. I was paying about $350 for this though, so honestly, I figured if I was paying that much, then this is the least I could expect. On Thursday, Nov 20th of 2025 I had them out to get my pup groomed up before Thanksgiving. The fellow who arrived was not personable, however I figured as long as he did a good job, I guess it didn't really matter. The other groomers who were out generally spent between 2-3 hours with Finn. This guy was done in under 90 minutes. When he brought Finn back to the door, he couldn't get away from the guy fast enough. He ran in the house and hid in his bed. That seemed very strange. Usually after a bath and a haircut he seems quite proud of himself and is very sociable. I asked the guy how Finn did, and he mumbled something about "he was scared but we got through it". At this point, I'm not thinking there is a problem, so I pay the guy, tip him, and he leaves. Finn doesn't leave his bed for the next 2 hours. And when he does finally get up, he is visably limping. I checked his foot and found that when his nails were clipped, they were clipped WAY too short, and one was done so poorly that the nail was cracked up into his foot. If you aren't aware, a dog's nail is not like ours. It is part of their bone. So when a nail splits, it is like having a fracture in your bones. I took Finn to the vet the next morning and they cleaned up his paw, wrapped his foot, and put him on pain killers. The very next day I get a text from Kontota saying, "HEY! We haven't seen FInn in a while! We would love to schedule a visit!" I reply that they just saw him yesterday, and as a matter of fact, I had just returned from the vet with him. I then sent over the vet bill along with the diagnosis from the vet showing what happened. They reply that they will show this to management. I got no reply from them after that until today, when they sent me a message asking to schedule another grooing session with them. A that point, I was frustrated enough with them that I decided to write this review. These guys injured my dog. They took no accountability. And they blindly keep messaging me for more appointments. Not only did I pay them over $350 to hamr my dog, I then paid another $150 to have him treated at the vet. Stay away. A bad hair cut or an expensive hair cut is one thing. Injuring your animal and then ignoring you is quite another. I gave them all the time in the world to address this properly and they chose not to. More...

Kontota Grooming promptly replied to my inquiry, asking details about my dogs and what was most important to me when having them groomed. They set me up right away with a wonderful groomer, who was able to come to my house that very same week. Options were given to me in advance of which grooming package I wanted to choose, and the groomer took wonderful care of each dog. This business is excellent! They came within the arrival window, and took care of my baby. Oso is a ball of anxiety, but I left him in great hands with Lisa. We are now her loyal regulars! She worked on his nails, teeth, anal glands, gave him a bath and an oat bath, and even sent me a picture mid bath, because she knew I would want to see it.
