In comparison to H&R Block virtual and in person support from previous filing years- Joe Gormelys firm made me feel like a dollar sign rather than a human.
I was admittedly late to filing this year and have PTSD from a 3 state filing last year (down to 2 states this year!) and went into this year ready to pay the fees for excellent support.
Joe was great on the initial call and gave me the price. Sold me on the fact that there were other services available through the high fee and it wasn’t just a tax filing service. I have yet to understand what those services are and what I am entitled to.
An in person meeting request seemed like a “hassle” for the firm, so I accommodated uploading all the docs manually via taking pictures on my cell phone. The portal could not handle the size of my files so I then had to wait to get back in touch with the firm to upload the files. I was given a contact Kait, and she was also great on the initial call.
The second the files were in hand it was almost impossible to get them on the phone. I had to follow up and chase to ensure the extension was filed, and asked if they needed any further information since I wasn’t even called when my taxes were being prepared. In my eyes (and granted I’m not an accountant) a call to review what is being filed should be a min requirement of service.
I then rcv an email to review the taxes myself which I did to the best of my ability without having the ability to get someone on the phone to walk me through.
I just gave up trying to get in touch bc life has to move on.

The truth of the matter is, I have an uncle who is a great CPA. He was always the leader in the family and from early childhood my idol.
