I would give them 10 stars if system allows. I cannot say enough good things about Mr. and Mrs. Gillette. They go above and beyond our expectations to help us design a major home renovation project.
Their designs are very professional and close attention to detail was paid.
They came onsite several times to verify the details, though our place is about a 2-hours drive back and forth with the company. They are very patient and communicative. They are good listeners to all our needs. They have tried every possible method in helping us control the renovation budget in a reasonable range. I strongly recommend jointly hiring their PE, Mr. Gillette if you have a structure need. Mr. Gillette is full of innovative ideas. They are a perfect couple in this field.
Last but not least, in the Knoxville area, if you want to get the same design and service quality, you need to pay at least twice as much! We will not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who has a need.
Our town needs us to pull all permits properly. The town code enforcement office is known to be strict with all construction documents. Now we have 100% confidence that their design will get a pass. We will report back on how our permit approval process goes based on their excellent design.

Ms. Gillette took a large retainer and was provided a detailed survey (cad file/hard copy), initial client floorplan, and lengthy detailed description of clients ideas and desires.
After many exchanges of .pdf and .JEG files it became apparent that Ms. Gillette was unable to follow even the simplest of requests (i.e. all interior doors to be 3080, window sizes and height off the floor) even after repeated requests by client to make the changes. Concerned about the lack of quality in Ms. Gillette work, clients asked a builder and architect to review the draft files Ms. Gillette. Within minutes both the builder and architect determined that the plan was never going to be suitable for the site and asked why we have invested efforts in the draft plans. A professional, having information necessary to make this determination, would not have failed to inform client and make recommendations as to alternatives before billing client for unusable work.
Client asked for an itemization of Ms. Gillette’s time investment to date, she refused stating the retainer (30%) of the project was used up. When asked for work product to date in a useable form she refused to provide.

I told her I wanted a screened-in porch added to the back of my house, and she listened carefully, came for a site visit, then drew up plans according to what I was looking for. We tweaked it a time or two, and she made me three copies of the plans for my contractor and for permitting. Contractor was most impressed with the quality. What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always loved art, architecture and the outdoors. When the opportunity arose to help a friend with their design it was the catalyst for me to make the leap into doing something more with the things I enjoyed most.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I don't just listen so that I can make a drawing and move on. I really care about my clients. I don't want them to feel like their ideas are dumb or that they aren't smart because they have trouble visualizing or trying to put into words how and what they want their home to look like. Their home is an expression or extension of themselves and their lifestyle not just a box. I want to assist them in changing their home from an idea to a truly tangible part of themselves.

Yes, I can provide my services remotely. I have worked locally and remotely for many years. I use various methods of communication such as phone, email, Skype, Go To Meeting, Zoom and MS teams to collaborate on the project design and then can email and mail the final product to the client.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I do video conferencing for initial consultations if the job is remote. However, if the job is local, I can meet with them by video or if they choose an in person meeting, I can meet with them in an open outdoor area if weather permits.
Custom residential design
Provide in person, phone, email or video consultation with client in order to determine what type of design fits their lifestyle and will work best for them in their location. Then customize and fine tune the details of the structure through the revision process until construction documents are released to the home owner and/or builder.
Homes designs include: Barndominiums, Cabins, Duplexes, Country, Farmhouse, Island, Lake front, Modern, Mountain, Ranch, Townhomes and Traditional.
