What do you love most about your job?

We love to critically think through behavior problems to identify root causes and determine the appropriate training required to adjust a dog's behavior. We also love to engage with our human customers to create that bond between them and their dogs to enhance their relationship.

What inspired you to start your own business?

We've always had dogs growing up. As former military trauma nurses, we got to work with military working dogs that were injured in Afghanistan and Iraq--a very rewarding experience. Karey worked with Service Dogs Alabama for a year training and socializing service dogs. Both Karey and Teresa volunteered/volunteer at animal shelters--Karey worked with the Behavior Modification Department at the Humane Society of New Mexico in Albuquerque and Teresa worked with dogs at SICSA. We both volunteer with the Human Society of Greater Dayton.

Why should our clients choose you?

Our training philosophy involves primarily positive reinforcement. This means we use a pleasant action (i.e. giving treats or toys, allowing play time) to reward a desired behavior. This also includes verbal and non-verbal cues. This methodology is not only taught by Animal Behavior College (ABC), but supported with current evidence. While aversive-based methods are still practiced by many trainers, current literature demonstrates positive reinforcement methods are better for the dog’s morale, welfare, and behavior response. Evidence also shows that positive reinforcement is more effective at not only addressing general obedience but target behavior with fewer risks to dog welfare and human-dog relationships.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We provide in-person, one-on-one dog training at our newly renovated training facility and virtual, one-on-one dog training via Zoom. Prices and package deals can be found on our website.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Unvaccinated clients are required to wear a mask while fully vaccinated clients are highly encouraged to wear masks during training sessions. All trainers will wear masks during every training session.
