With 30 years experience, I can tailor private obedience lessons to your individual needs. This can include, but is not limited to, basic manners, housebreaking, walking on lead, sit, down, come, and stay. Flexible hours are by appointment. Working as the Director of Training for a shelter group for the past 20 plus years, coupled with being a retired Police K9 Handler and years of schooling, workshops and on line instruction, make me the perfect choice to help you and your canine companions live and communicate in happiness and harmony.

I contacted Cheryl in desperation. We adopted a pit bull terrier mix and the last few months have been very difficult. He is 7 months old and was unruly, defiant and nipping my children constantly. A week after speaking with Cheryl (I live out of state so I was only able to communicate via messenger) I cannot believe the difference! I implemented all of her tips consistently and even though we still have a long road ahead of us with Chance I am more confident in the training process with him. Cheryl assured me I am doing great and Chance is simply doing puppy things but with her help I know with more work he will be an obedient and loving dog. I highly recommend anyone dealing with a hard time training a puppy to contact Cheryl!

Needed a lot of help with our 60 pound rescue puppy. She was a little over a year and is a pure sweetheart, but a happy large dog who constantly jumps on you or ignores your commands is not fun! She also loves every passing human being, every kid or dog she’s meet outside. Constantly fighting with her trying to make sure she doesn’t get overly excited or have exhausting leash walks is not something I was looking forward to do multiple times a day.
After 3 weeks with OversightK9 we got back an Angel! She waits for our command when we are outside and if she wants to say hi to anyone during her walks. She’s at her place at home and doesn’t leave it even if we have a lot of people at home unless we release her from her place to play with the guests.
No more jumping! And even if she gets a weird once a week jump at you in an overexcitement she stops herself right away after corrected and becomes calm.

I was very happy with best friends dog training. I sent my seven month old puppy to boot camp with Scott during my vacation. He was great with me and my children (I do not know the first thing about dogs or dog training as I have never had a dog lol). My puppy came back and did act differently. She was no longer biting and seemed more calm/willing to listen. She was not potty trained but made some progress. Scott assessed my home and told me step by step what to do with her to facilitate the potty training. He subsequently came to my home three times for follow up to tell me and my family what to do to reinforce the commands the dog learned at boot camp. (Heel, sit, come, place). I do have to work with my dog twice a day for ten minutes to reinforce the training. It is simple and easy as she already knows the commands. What I liked most about the company was that all of this was explained to me before.... And Scott was always up front about the fact that the dog would not be perfectly potty trained upon return and I would have to work with the dog to keep up her skills. I will be using the company in the future for more board/train or in home lessons.
