Monroe

At AIP Photography, we are a husband and wife team who specializes in creating a full service experience for the customer for all jobs. We also specialize in on-location portraiture of families, seniors, and individuals. We shoot a mix of candids, staged formal shots, and funny shots. Sessions are either one or two hours depending on number of locations and outfit changes. We help organize the locations, outfit choices, and posing. The client does not need to have any experience to obtain great images. We aim for quick turnaround - from 2 to 4 weeks from the photo session to proofing and delivery. For weddings, we pride ourselves in producing images that capture your special day in bold, lifelike color so for years to come, you will remember it like it was yesterday. We provide directed photography during group shots and bride and groom formals and provide photojournalistic coverage for the rest of the day. We coordinate with the DJ and officiant to make sure all details are captured on your special day. All of our packages include an album, an online gallery, digital files, and gift prints. We work with you from start to finish to make sure your visions are captured.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

In order to take great photographs, the client and photographer must feel comfortable with each other. We help guide the clients through the entire process, from location selection, to outfit selection, to time of day. Our sessions are a mix of posed shots and candid shots, and many times the best image comes from when the client does not even know their picture is being taken. All of our wedding packages include an engagement session to allow the client to be more comfortable with having photos taken and realize everyone can get great images, even if they are camera shy.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

The most important thing when starting a new project is to make sure expectations are clear on both client and photographer side. I always ask the client where their favorite/special locations are, what types of deliverables they are looking foor, and to see any inspiration images they may bring. For example, if a client is interested in large wall art items, we may take more wide angle, environmental portraits along with close up headshots.

For weddings, we decide if more posed coverage or more photojournalistic coverage is better suited to the client's needs. Some couples want exceptional coverage of the details and getting ready before the wedding, while others want artistic formals or coverage of every moment of the reception.

What do you love most about your job?

My favorite part of the job is taking a client who may be inexperienced or nervous about having photos taken and having them leave with great images to share with their friends and family.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I originally started with photography in 2008, taking mostly landscape or cityscape photos. I took several classes at Rochester Institute of Technology and Rochester Center for the Arts and wanted to branch out into more fields. I started shooting events and portraits in 2014 and decided to take the next step in 2016 after doing more jobs.
