How would you describe your ‘style’?
I'm an open format DJ. From Pop and chart topping hits to EDM and disco, soul and funk to rock and roll - I read what's working in the room and go there, rather than running a set I decided on in advance.
The harder part is knowing when to pull back. A toast, a first dance, a live auction, a moment of silence at a fundraiser - those need someone paying attention to the room, not the playlist.
I play clean versions of all songs, for the whole room, not just the twenty-five-year-olds.
What makes photo booths such a great alternative to traditional photographers?
A photo booth isn't a replacement for your photographer - it's the thing that runs while they're working. Your photographer is capturing the day. The booth is where guests hand each other props and take something home from it.
Prints come out on the spot, and everything lands in an online gallery afterward. It also doubles as a video testimonial station, which is useful at fundraisers and company events where you want people on camera saying why the connect with your cause.
What do you love most about your job?
The best part is watching a room figure out it's having a good time. Somebody's aunt gets up first, then a couple more, and ten minutes later there's no room left on the floor. That happens because of a song - one specific song, played at one specific moment - and I get to pick it.
Charleston's small enough that I run into people I've worked for at the grocery store. I've DJed a 5K for a nonprofit, then their gala, then somebody's wedding from that same board. Twenty-five years in one place means the work stacks up into something that feels less like a job and more like being part of how this community celebrates itself.
The production side is different, and quieter. When it's done right, nobody notices. Nobody thinks about the speaker placement that let the back of the room hear the vows. Nobody notices the auctioneer never had to repeat himself. My best work isn't necessarily seen - it's heard.
Weddings
Every wedding has its own soundtrack. I build playlists around what you and your guests actually listen to, run clean ceremony sound so your vows are heard, make cocktail hour and dinner music engaging, and read the room to keep the floor full — from the first dance to the last song. Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, handled by one person who knows your timeline and more importantly knows you.
Community
A lot of my work is 5Ks, galas, and fundraisers. That means MCing a start line at 7am, keeping an auctioneer audible in a loud ballroom, and knowing when to get out of the way so the program lands. I work regularly with event chairs, community groups, and nonprofit teams across the Lowcountry
Celebrations
Proms, mitzvahs, milestone birthdays, retirement parties, holiday events are amazing ways to celebrate. I'm an Open format DJ and mix across decades and genres to keep every generation on the floor rather than waiting out someone else's music. Clean, appropriate, and fun for all ages.
Photo Booth
A photo booth gives guests something to do between courses and something to take home. It works at a wedding reception, a fundraiser, a milestone birthday, a graduation - and it's usually the thing that pulls in the guests who won't dance.
