We are Miranda and Matteo, two qualified Personal Trainers with YMCA and HIIT instructors. I started my fitness journey two years ago after having my daughter and when I was overweight, tired and unhappy with myself. I resolved to turn things around and joined a local gym to work with a PT. It was tough and challenging, but lockdown allowed me to reconsider my lifestyle and put in every effort toward improving my fitness. I lost 6 stones, got my blood pressure under control, and discovered a love for weights and power training. Buoyed by my progress and achievements, I enrolled on Level 2 and 3 courses with YMCA and obtained my certification. Matteo is an ex para in the Italian army with over 30 years of experience in training troops and private clients. After a long career, both freelance and within a commercial gym, we teamed up, created MirandaPowerFitness and we have just opened our first studio, Fitness Republik, in Streatham. Our mission is to inspire others by sharing our experience and coaching them to be the best version of themselves. If I can do it, so can you! We specialise in weight loss and management, nutrition and complete fitness. Whatever goals you have, and no matter how unfit you think you are, you can rest assured that our tailored sessions will help you lose weight, get toned, and improve your endurance and performance. Great results will keep you motivated, and once you realise what you are capable of achieving, there’s no turning back. Throughout your journey, we will provide plenty of support, monitor your progress, and tweak your training plan to challenge your body. We start with a free consultation and assessment to establish your aims, lifestyle, and where you are at currently. We are available for one-to-one sessions as well as group ones in our studio/gym or outdoors, if that is your choice. How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

We provide a tailored exercise and nutritional program based on their diet preferences, lifestyle and current fitness level.
We also have a wide network of professionals that can support our clients with any of their needs in order to achieve total fitness and improve their general wellbeing.
Last but not least, our approach is very motivational, organic and stemming from personal experience.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Look after your mental health and the body will follow.
Eat nutritious, clean food, drink plenty of water and exercise at least three times/week.
Be in constant movement: take the stairs at work, walk up the escalators when commuting, stand on the tube and train.
If you have a desk bound job, take regular breaks, include some body exercises while the kettle boils, i.e. squats, press ups and lunges.

What do you love most about your job?

We are both a people's person.
We love listening to our clients' stories, have a deep understanding of their lifestyle and help them achieve their goals.
Our aim is to get our clients to become THE BEST versions of themselves and nothing makes us happier when we see them achieving their goals, setting new ones and constantly progressing.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was a successful Retail Manager and I loved my job however I had achieved everything I could in my line of work and there was always something missing.
During lockdown I qualified as a PT with YMCA and that gave me the opportunity to help people in a different way.
At the beginning, it was meant to be just a side job however soon I realized that helping people to get healthier, happier and fitter than ever, gave me the satisfaction I had always craved for.
Seeing my clients changing their lifestyles and hitting their goals, achieving things they never thought they could, gives me enormous happiness and satisfaction.
I also love a good challenge!
Matteo has always worked in the fitness industry and his experience is paramount. We soon realised that we were a great team together and we shared the same views on our approach towards fitness and a person's journey to a healthier lifestyle. We wanted to be different, to distance ourselves from the traditional image of commercial gyms and fitness industry. Our aim is to empower people, to restore the love for exercise, healthy living without having to give up the small pleasures in life.

The first studio, Fitness Republik, is in the making as we speak and that will bring remote sessions and classes too.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

We am very conscious of the fact that through the nature of our job we are at contact with various people, so we are taking regular lateral flow tests.
We also use face masks and make sure that equipment is regularly disinfected.
