Your first sessions will likely focus around your lifestyle, relationships and the issues you are experiencing. Your counsellor will be building a detailed picture of your mental health and the factors that affect it. Therapy sessions can then be designed around your own personal needs, with the ultimate goal of improving your mental health.

Why did you become a counsellor?

I did psychology at university so have always had an interest in the human brain. I decided very early on that I want to help people with their mental health, so completed the necessary training to become BACP accredited (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). It can be a tough job at times, but also very rewarding as I help my clients through what can be troubling times in their lives.

What services can you offer your clients?

A lot of my work is focused around relationship counselling nowadays. However, I do have clients that use my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy services to improve their general mental health. The majority of my work is in personal or couples therapy rather than group sessions. I feel it provides a far more personalised approach to their issues.

What experience do you have?

I opened my practice five years ago after a career at some of the more established counselling services in London (including the NHS). As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I’m able to offer both counselling and psychotherapy, although they are often interlinked.
