Pick the best

Signing up for martial arts classes is a great idea for everyone as this will not only help you get fit but also teach you how to defend yourself in case of an emergency. There are plenty of self-defense tools today, but your body is the only one you can rely on in any situation. Therefore, everyone should know how to use it to effectively disable an attacker. Training in any kind of martial arts will increase your strength and stamina and improve your general health greatly.
  • With martial arts classes you will be able to learn a great number of martial arts. The most popular classes are jiu jitsu, taekwondo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, kung fu, capoeira, kendo, muai thai, and tai chi. Each of these martial arts has its specific strengths, so you’ll need to do a bit of research to decide which class suits you best. Consult a professional martial arts trainer and your doctor to make the right decision.
  • Bark can put you in touch with suppliers offering a variety of mixed martial arts classes and specialized self-defense courses. You can try these groups if you don’t want to focus on a single type of martial arts. Mixed classes are extremely versatile, so you’ll need to talk to each trainer individually to find out their approach.
  • Martial arts classes are great, but you can enhance your physical training by complementing them with other types of exercise. Bark can help you find swimming and yoga classes as well as personal trainers who can develop a personalized training and nutrition program that will allow you to achieve your fitness goals.

What do you love most about your job?

I have an insatiable thirst for learning, and love modelling that for my students. I am constantly training and acquiring new skills and knowledge so that I can share that with anyone who wishes to learn.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have studied martial arts for over 25 years, worked as a secondary school teacher for over 12 years, and was offered the opportunity to inherit the karate dojo at which I trained when my sensei decided to retire. Education is my calling.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am passionate about learning, and try my hardest to make sure that there is always new and relevant material for my students to learn. We offer the most affordable tuition in the city, and provide excellent value (offering multiple programs for students of all ages and abilities). Our club is community-focused, responsive to the needs and wants of our local community, and we provide social events and experiential learning opportunities on top of our regular curriculum.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, we can provide online (Zoom) personal or small group classes like we were able to offer during COVID.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

We follow all recommended public health protocols, and when necessary our club is flexible enough to move to either an outdoor or virtual setting (such as over Zoom).

Workouts are going very well . I think I made a good choice for a trainer.

Working with Ali has been a great experience. As a couple we chose to workout together and Ali was both flexible and accomodating. Not only did he design effective workout routines, but he also went above and beyond by providing invaluable guidance on nutrition, mental well-being, and overall lifestyle choices. His holistic approach to fitness improved how we look and feel but also how we think. Ali's knowledge of movement and anatomy was instumental in adapting our workouts based on previous injuries. His exercise adjustments, and physical body treatments and adjustments made exercising more challenging and much more effective. His unwavering support, encouragement, and genuine care have made every session a challenge to look forward too.
