GROUNDWORK COLLECTIVE

Groundwork Collective | Coach Rae — Strength Training, Reimagined This isn't training as you've known it. It's building strength that actually lasts—without breaking down your body in the process. Movement is your foundation. From there, we build the whole human back to safety, strength, and sovereignty. Are You Ready to Train Smart, Not Just Hard? Maybe you've tried strength training before and something didn't feel right. You got stronger, but you also got hurt. Or tight. Or burnt out. Maybe you're an athlete whose body feels different now—movements that used to be effortless now require negotiation. Or you're returning to fitness after time off and you're nervous about getting injured again. Maybe you've been told to 'just push through' the discomfort, but your body is telling you something else. You want to get strong. You want to build capacity. You want to feel confident in your body again. But you need an approach that actually respects how your body works. Here's what most trainers won't tell you: Your body isn't weak. It's protecting you. That stiffness? That restriction? That nagging pain that shows up when you train? It's not a sign you need to push harder. It's a signal your body doesn't feel safe yet. This is where strength training at Groundwork is different. Most trainers load you before checking if your body is ready. I prepare your body first so strength training becomes sustainable, not something that breaks you down over time. If your body's been asking for a different approach, this is your invitation to train smarter. Book your complimentary Root to Rise Clarity Call https://forms.fillout.com/t/3ueKNokqKZus Why Groundwork Might Be What You've Been Looking For Maybe you're carrying tension that won't release. Or you've been through injury and you're afraid of re-injury. Maybe you've tried 'regular' training programs and they left you sore in the wrong ways—not that good 'I worked hard' feeling, but that 'something's not right' feeling. You used to trust your body to handle challenge. Now you're hyperaware of every twinge, every compensation, every movement that might trigger something. You're not just looking for a workout. You're looking for an approach that won't betray your body. I know this place personally. Before Groundwork had a name, it was a story I was living. I remember standing in my kitchen in my 20s, reaching for a glass, and feeling my shoulder seize. That moment when I realized: My body has become my enemy, not my home. I had been the strong one. The one who pushed through pain. The one with all the answers as a trainer. But I didn't have the answers when I couldn't trust my body to move without compensation. When one restriction triggered another, and another, until I didn't recognize my own movement patterns anymore. The hardest part wasn't the physical limitation—it was the grief. Grief that my body, which had always been my ally, now felt like something working against me. Those struggles became the foundation for how I train clients today. Born from my own healing journey, refined through 15+ years of training bodies, and shaped by the wisdom we've discovered together. Through treating pain as data—noticing what my body was trying to tell me rather than silencing what I didn't want to hear—I learned something that changed everything: My body wasn't broken. It was speaking. And when I finally began to listen rather than force, everything changed. What I discovered became the foundation for understanding how all bodies communicate during training—not through symptoms to push through, but through signals to honour. In this work, I've walked alongside many humans in similar places: - Athletes whose bodies finally said 'enough' to traditional training - Former fitness enthusiasts who loved working out but kept getting injured - People returning to exercise after injury, pregnancy, or time off who need to rebuild intelligently - High-achievers who want to train hard but are tired of breaking down And maybe you've started to wonder: Do I have to choose between getting strong and feeling good? You don't. Your body isn't damaged—it's asking to be prepared properly, trained intelligently, respected fully. This journey taught me that real strength training means something different than what most of us have experienced. Your progress won't follow a straight line, and that's not a failure—that's how real capacity builds. Some days you'll feel powerful and capable. Others, more protective or tight. Both belong. Both are part of the journey, and we'll navigate them together. What you've been searching for isn't a harder program or more intensity. It's a smarter approach. A return to training that honours the body that has been waiting, patiently, for you to listen. So, What Makes Strength Training at Groundwork Different? Too often, training stays narrow—treating your body like a machine that just needs more load, more reps, more intensity. Trainers focus on what you can lift but ignore whether your body is ready to lift it. They build programs but miss the person inside the program. They chase results but overlook the nervous system underneath. At Groundwork Collective, strength training means something deeper. It's not just building muscle. It's movement preparation—getting your body ready to handle load, so strength becomes sustainable instead of something that eventually breaks you. I'm a Nervous System Strength and Integrative Movement Rehab Coach I work at the intersection of what your body feels and what it can do. I understand how our bodies hold stories—how past injuries create fear patterns in your movement, how stress lives in your jaw and shoulders during lifts, how overwhelm shows up as breath-holding and chronic bracing under load. When we've experienced injury, chronic stress, or too many 'push through it' training programs, our nervous systems can get stuck in protection mode—holding tension 'just in case,' guarding against certain movements, making you feel like training is always a threat to manage. You're not weak. You're brilliantly protected. But that protection has become the cage that keeps you from the strength you want. This work honors your body's protective responses. We move at the pace of trust, not arbitrary timelines or programs that ignore your individual needs. Book your complimentary Root to Rise Clarity Call https://forms.fillout.com/t/3ueKNokqKZus How Training With Me Is Different Most trainers force your body to perform. I help your nervous system feel safe in movement first—then we build real strength from there. This means: ✓ We Prepare Your Body Before We Load It Before we add weight, we check: Is your body ready for this? Through joint preparation, breath work, and movement assessment, I make sure your foundation is solid. Your shoulders mobile. Your core engaged properly. Your nervous system regulated. You don't push through restriction. You address what's creating it first. Most people don't lack strength—they lack preparation. Once your body feels safe and moves well, strength builds naturally and sustainably. ✓ We Address What's Underneath Your Movement Patterns Your tight shoulders during pressing movements might be holding years of stress and responsibility. Your restricted hips during squats might be protecting an old injury your conscious mind has forgotten. Your jaw clenching during lifts might be unexpressed boundaries showing up as physical tension. Strength training isn't just physical. Together we'll explore: - How your breath pattern reflects your nervous system state under load - How stress patterns show up in your lifting mechanics - How old injuries create lasting compensation patterns - What your body might be trying to protect you from This understanding changes everything about how you train. ✓ We Build at Your Body's Pace, With Progressive Intelligence Real strength takes time. Some sessions you'll feel powerful—ready to add weight, challenge yourself, test your capacity. Other sessions you'll need to pull back—maintain what you have, focus on form, let your nervous system catch up. You're not going backwards. You're building sustainable capacity. Both approaches belong. Both are part of intelligent training. We honour your body's readiness, never forcing progress faster than your system can integrate. There's no 'should' here. Only what's true for your body, today. ✓ You Learn to Be Your Own Authority on Your Training You won't need me forever. That's the point. You'll learn to: - Assess your own movement patterns before adding load - Read your body's signals during training—good challenge vs. threatening pain - Regulate your nervous system when training feels stressful - Modify any exercise to work for YOUR body - Progress intelligently based on your capacity, not a generic program - Trust yourself more than any external 'expert' You're not getting a workout program. You're learning movement literacy—the language of your own body under load. And once you speak it, you own your strength training for life. Book your complimentary Root to Rise Clarity Call https://forms.fillout.com/t/3ueKNokqKZus The Groundwork Journey 'Like all living things, we build strength in seasons: we root in safety, prepare through smart movement, and rise into authentic power. We train systematically, not symptomatically. That's sustainable strength—the Groundwork Way.' Here's what you'll experience as we train together: First, Your Body Will Settle Through breathwork and awareness practices, the protective tension you've been carrying—sometimes for years—begins to release. Your jaw unclenches during lifts. Your shoulders drop away from your ears. Your breath deepens under load. Movement that felt threatening starts to feel possible. This is where trust in training begins rebuilding. You'll notice: - Tension melting during warm-ups in areas you didn't realize you were bracing - Your breath moving from chest (stress breathing) down into your belly (power breathing) - A sense of ease returning to movements that used to create anxiety - Feeling more present in your body during training, less 'in your head' Then, Movement Quality Returns You'll rediscover how your body actually wants to move—not forcing patterns that don't fit you, but finding YOUR natural movement expression. Your squat will feel fluid, not forced. Your presses will feel integrated, not compensated. You'll sense stability where there used to be wobble. This is where you start moving well again. You'll notice: - Joints moving freely instead of feeling 'stuck' - Moving with awareness and control instead of powering through - Sensing what needs attention before pain tells you - Trusting your body's movement patterns again Then, You'll Build Real Capacity Slowly, progressively, we add load. Not by forcing, but by creating the conditions where your nervous system allows more challenge. We honor what your body can handle today, and intelligently progress from there—always with breath, awareness, and safety guiding us. This is where you get actually strong. You'll notice: - Lifting weights you thought were beyond you - Moving with power AND control (not just grinding through reps) - Building strength that feels sustainable, not fragile - Returning to training goals you'd given up on Finally, You'll Rise Into Embodied Strength Not just strong, but confident. Not just lifting weights, but owning your capacity. Not just capable, but FREE. You'll train without the constant background hum of 'will this hurt?' or 'am I doing this wrong?' This is where you step into the fullness of what your body can do. You'll notice: - Confidence in the gym you haven't felt in years - Trust that your body can handle challenge - Freedom to train spontaneously, joyfully - Embodying strength that comes from the inside out Progress spirals rather than climbs—some weeks you'll hit PRs and feel invincible, others you'll maintain and protect. Both are part of intelligent training. There's no rushing your body's timeline, and there's deep wisdom in honouring the sessions when lighter work is the medicine you need. This isn't temporary gains that break down—it's sustainable strength built through integration. It's the Groundwork Way. Your training path is personal: guided by what YOUR body needs, at the pace YOUR nervous system is ready for. No two paths look alike, but the goal is the same—strength and practices that sustain your capacity for life. What You'll Experience Training With Me In Our Sessions Together: I won't ask you to perform to some external standard. Instead, I'll ask: 'What do you sense? What do you feel? How does this movement feel in YOUR body right now?' We move intentionally, with full awareness—never rushing through reps or pushing past what feels safe. Everything adapts to YOUR body. Not a template pulled from the internet. Not a protocol from a textbook. YOU. You'll feel seen, heard, and safe—never judged, never pushed beyond what your nervous system can handle, never made to feel 'less than' for having limitations. Between Sessions: - Simple daily practices (10-15 minutes) that prepare your body for training—not another thing on your to-do list, but practices that become your training warm-up ritual. - Tools to regulate your nervous system when training feels stressful—breath work you can do between sets, body awareness check-ins that take 30 seconds, ways to shift from 'threat mode' to 'challenge mode.' - A framework for understanding your body that lasts forever—learning to read your body's training signals, troubleshoot form issues, adapt any exercise to what you need. Over Time, You'll Become: ✓ Confident in training—no more fear, no more second-guessing, no more 'will this hurt me?' ✓ Connected to your body's wisdom under load—you'll know what it needs before pain has to tell you ✓ Free from the injury-recovery cycle—not just working around issues, but truly building resilient capacity ✓ Your own embodied trainer—autonomous, capable, trusting yourself more than any external program Curious what this could feel like for you? Let's explore in a 30-minute Root to Rise Call—your complimentary clarity call to see what's possible. https://forms.fillout.com/t/3ueKNokqKZus No sales pitch. No pressure. Just a conversation about where you are with training, where you want to be, and whether this approach is the right fit. A Story of Transformation One of my clients came to me after months of working with trainers who kept loading her before she was ready. 'I did everything they told me,' she said. 'But my shoulder kept flaring up. Eventually I just stopped training because I was afraid of making it worse.' What we discovered together was that her shoulder wasn't just 'weak'—it was protecting an old compensation pattern from years of carrying everyone else's burdens. Literally and metaphorically. The other trainers had focused on making her deltoids stronger. But no one had addressed the pattern underneath: the way her shoulder blade wasn't moving properly, the way she held her breath under load, the way her entire upper body braced because her nervous system didn't trust that structure. Her shoulder wasn't weak. It was exhausted from overworking. As we worked together—not just on shoulder strength, but on preparing her joints to move freely, teaching her nervous system it was safe to load that pattern, exploring what that protective bracing was really about—something shifted. Three months later, she sent me a video: 'I pressed weight overhead yesterday and realized I wasn't bracing for pain. I was just... pressing. Like it was natural again. But more than that—I asked for help moving furniture instead of doing it all myself. And my shoulder feels better than it has in years.' Traditional training treats symptoms—'your shoulder is weak, let's strengthen it.' Here, at Groundwork Collective, we explore your whole movement story—not just from a physical lens, but understanding how your nervous system, your stress patterns, and your life experiences all shape how your body moves under load. That's what this approach offers: Not just strength without pain, but strength without fear. The Groundwork Promise Every body—and every training journey—is different. No two seeds grow the same. I promise to honour your individuality, your pace, and your lived experience. You'll walk away with: ✓ A body that moves with strength AND ease Return to training you love, perform at your best, trust your physical capacity ✓ Tools to regulate your nervous system during training You'll know how to shift from threat to challenge in seconds—during any workout, anywhere ✓ Movement patterns that feel sustainable Not extreme protocols or rigid form rules, but intelligent principles woven into how you naturally move ✓ A deeper trust in yourself and your capacity Confidence that you can handle challenge, that your body is your ally in training ✓ Freedom in movement—not just pain-free, but powerful Your body becomes a source of strength, capability, and joy—not something you have to manage or protect The Groundwork Gold Standard At Groundwork Collective, we live by golden principles that anchor everything we do. These aren't abstract ideals—they're the living foundation of how we train together: The Golden Rule—training begins with respect and reciprocity. You're met as an equal, never as someone who needs fixing. The Golden Ratio—balance, not force, creates sustainable strength. We work with your body's natural rhythms, not against them. The Golden Thread—capacity is never lost, only waiting to be rewoven. What feels fragmented can become integrated again. The Gold Standard—YOU are the measure, not numbers or aesthetics or someone else's program. Your experience, your truth, your body's wisdom guide our training. Worth Its Weight in Gold—every human carries intrinsic value beyond measure. You don't have to earn your worth through performance or perfect form. One client once told me this approach to training was 'worth its weight in gold.' I carry that humbly—because for me, the gold standard isn't about being flashy or revolutionary. It's about offering careful, thoughtful, whole-human strength training that blends 15+ years of training experience, injury recovery knowledge, movement science, and nervous system-aware practice into something rare: Training that honours your nervous system, respects your pace, and treats you as a whole human—not a set of muscles to fatigue. I work with an understanding of how protective responses live in our movement patterns during training, and how we can gently invite new possibilities instead of forcing past them. And Here's a Truth We Live By: ''Illness begins with 'I,' but wellness begins with 'we.'' Real strength isn't just self-powered—it's co-created. We create safety together in training, so you never feel alone in rebuilding capacity. We build foundations together—strength, preparation, and trust that hold steady under load. We rise together—moving into resilience, power, and freedom as a shared journey. Because transformation happens in relationship, not isolation. How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

At Groundwork Collective, we don't chase quick fixes — we help you build sustainable capacity in your body.

Because the truth is: whether you want to get stronger, move without pain, or just trust your body again, the answer isn't another program.

It's understanding how your body actually works. And working WITH it, not against it.

Here's what actually happens when we work together:
First, your body learns it's safe
Whether you're here to train or to restore movement, we start the same place: helping your nervous system feel safe.

If you're training:
We prepare your body before we load it — assessing movement, freeing restrictions, building the foundation that makes strength sustainable.

If you're restoring movement:
We help your nervous system release the protection patterns keeping you stuck — through breath, awareness, and practices that signal safety.

Either way, you'll notice:
- Tension you didn't know you were holding starts to release
- Your breath deepens and flows naturally
- Movements that felt threatening or restricted start to feel possible
- You feel more present in your body, less stuck in your head

This is where trust begins rebuilding.
Not through force. Through safety. Through listening.
Then, you build real capacity
Once your body feels safe, we build from there.

If you're training:
Progressive loading, intelligent programming, movement that challenges you without breaking you down.

If you're restoring movement:
Expanded range, activated stabilizers, pain-free movement, capacity you thought was lost.

Either way, you'll notice:
- Moving without fear or compensation
- Doing things you thought you'd lost access to
- Building strength that feels sustainable
- Trusting your body to hold you

This is where you reclaim your capacity.
Not just pain-free. Not just strong. But capable, confident, free.
Finally, you own it — for life
Quick fixes fade. Rigid programs break.
So we build practices that fit YOUR life — principles you understand, tools you can use anywhere, autonomy you own forever.

You'll notice:
- Daily practices that feel grounding, not like another chore
- Tools that work when stress hits, pain flares, life gets hard
- A framework for understanding your body that lasts
- Confidence to guide yourself without needing constant help

This is where you own your movement health for life.
Not dependent. Not stuck in cycles of needing fixes.
But autonomous. Capable. Trusting yourself.

We Redefine Success
Your wins at Groundwork won't be measured in pounds lost, weight lifted, or inches gained.

They'll feel like:
✨ Waking up without pain — and realizing you moved without thinking about it
✨ Energy that carries you — not just surviving, but living fully
✨ Moving with confidence — no more fear, no more bracing
✨ Emotional resilience — stress doesn't knock you down like it used to
✨ A body that feels like home — not something to manage, but something that brings joy

In short:
Groundwork takes you from protection mode to possibility.

From pain OR fear of injury → to confident movement
From following programs → to understanding YOUR body
From external dependence → to embodied autonomy

Not through force. Through trust.
Not through rigid rules. Through personalized practice.
Not through quick fixes. Through sustainable transformation.
Because your body was never broken.
It was protecting you.
And now, it's ready to remember what wholeness feels like.

Evolution through integration. That's the Groundwork Way. ✨

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

The secret isn't punishment, restriction, or chasing some idealized version of yourself.

The secret is this: learning to trust your body again.

Because here's what no one tells you:
You can't build sustainable strength, move without pain, or feel at home in your body through force, shame, or white-knuckling your way through programs that don't respect how your body actually works.

At Groundwork Collective, we don't help you chase a 'dream body' — we help you build a trusted body.
One that feels strong, moves freely, and actually serves your life.

Here's what that actually looks like:
First, your body learns it's safe
Whether you want to train hard or move without pain, if your nervous system doesn't feel safe, nothing sustainable will happen.
Maybe you've been pushing through discomfort, ignoring signals, or feeling like movement is something you have to force. Maybe training has become something you 'should' do but dread. Or maybe pain has made you afraid to move at all.
Before we ask you to do more, we help your body feel safe enough to build.

If you're training:
We prepare your foundation — freeing restrictions, establishing breath patterns, creating the stability that makes strength sustainable.

If you're restoring movement:
We help your nervous system release protection mode — through breathwork, awareness, and practices that signal: 'You're safe. You can soften now.

Either way, you'll notice:
- Tension you didn't know you were carrying starts to release
- Your breath moves from shallow and held to deep and steady
- Movement stops feeling like something you have to force
- You feel more at home in your body, less at war with it

This is where trust begins.
Not through discipline or restriction. But through creating the conditions where your body says: 'Okay. I'm safe. I can move now.'

Then, you build real capacity — strength that lasts
Once your body feels safe, we build from there.
Not by forcing you into someone else's program. Not by making you fit some predetermined ideal.
But by honouring what YOUR body can do today, and intelligently progressing from there.

If you're training:
Progressive loading that challenges you without breaking you down. Strength that feels powerful AND sustainable.

If you're restoring movement:
Expanded range, activated patterns, pain-free movement, capacity you thought was lost.

Either way, you'll notice:
- Moving without fear, without that constant 'will this hurt?'
- Doing things you thought you'd lost — overhead reaching, floor work, playing with your kids, training the way you want
- Building strength that feels sustainable, not fragile
- A body that feels like an ally, not something working against you

This is where you reclaim your capacity.
Not through punishment. Through partnership with your body.

Finally, you own it — and it feels like freedom
The 'dream' isn't in the mirror or on the scale.
It's in how you move through the world. How alive you feel. How much energy you have for what matters.

So instead of chasing quick fixes that fade, we build practices that last — principles you understand, tools you can use anywhere, autonomy you own forever.

You'll notice:
- Daily practices that feel grounding, not like another chore
- Energy that carries you through your day — not just surviving, but living
- Tools that work when stress hits, pain flares, life gets hard
- The confidence to guide yourself without constant external help

This is where you own your strength — for life.
Not dependent on the next program, the next coach, the next 'solution.'
But autonomous. Capable. Trusting yourself more than any external expert.
That's the Groundwork Way.

We don't help you chase a dream body.
We help you build a trusted body — one that's:
✨ Strong — capable of what you ask of it
✨ Resilient — built on sustainable practices, not burnout cycles
✨ Pain-free — or knows how to work with sensation intelligently
✨ Confident — trusts its capacity instead of fearing limitation
✨ Alive — brings you joy, not just obligation

Because the body of your dreams isn't out there waiting to be achieved.
It's right here, waiting to be trusted.
Waiting for you to stop fighting it and start listening to it.
Waiting for you to remember that capacity was never something you lost — just something that needed the right conditions to emerge.

You'll notice:
✨ Waking up without pain — and realizing you moved through your morning without bracing
✨ Energy that actually lasts — because your body feels nourished and prepared, not depleted
✨ Moving with confidence — not fear, not obligation, but genuine trust in what your body can do
✨ Emotional resilience — stress doesn't knock you down like it used to, because you have tools to meet it
✨ A body that feels like home — not a project to fix, not a problem to manage, but a place you actually want to live

In short:
Groundwork takes you from chasing an ideal to trusting what's real.

From pain OR fear of injury → to confident movement
From restriction and punishment → to intelligent training and care
From external validation → to internal authority
From "someday when I'm fixed/perfect" → to 'right now, with what I have'

Because your body was never the problem.
The problem was being taught it needed to be anything other than what it is — or that you needed to push past its signals instead of listening to them.

And now, you get to remember:
You don't need a dream body. You need to trust and train the one you have.

Evolution through integration. That's the Groundwork Way. ✨

What do you love most about your job?

It's not the before-and-after photos.
It's not the PRs or the weight on the bar.
It's the moment someone's shoulders drop for the first time in years.
The quiet exhale when they realize they can train without fear.
The look in their eyes when they understand: 'Oh. My body isn't weak. It was just protecting itself.'

I love witnessing the moment someone stops fighting their body and starts partnering with it.
When they discover that the twinge during training wasn't weakness — it was information.
When they realize their body wasn't betraying them — it was speaking to them, and they just didn't know the language yet.

I love the quiet victories that no one else sees:
✨ Pressing weight overhead without bracing for pain
✨ Squatting deep without fear of what might happen
✨ Training consistently without the injury-recovery cycle
✨ Getting up from the floor with ease
✨ Playing with their kids without limitations
✨ Waking up and realizing pain isn't the first thing on their mind anymore

I live for the shift from 'my body is the problem' to 'my body is trying to help me.'
When someone who's been told they're 'just getting older' or 'have to accept limitations' discovers that's not true.

When the chronic tension they've been carrying — in their jaw during lifts, their shoulders during presses, their hips during squats — finally releases, and they remember what ease feels like.

When they stop asking 'What's wrong with me?' and start asking 'What is my body trying to tell me?'

I love watching someone reclaim their body as a trusted training partner.
When protection mode — the constant bracing, the fear of re-injury, the hyper-vigilance about every sensation — softens into confidence.

When training stops feeling like a threat and starts feeling like capability building.
When the body that felt like something to manage becomes something to celebrate.

I love the moment the story changes:
From 'I can't train without getting hurt' → to 'I'm getting stronger AND feeling better'
From 'I'm weak/broken' → to 'I was brilliantly protected, and now I'm ready'
From 'I need someone to fix me' → to 'I know how to guide myself'
From 'My body limits me' → to 'My body is capable'

And I live for the ripple effect.

Watching one person's transformation spill into everything:
- The way they show up for their family with more energy, more presence, more capacity.
- The way they move through stress without shutting down or burning out.
- The way they start setting boundaries they never could before — because their body taught them that honouring limits creates sustainable strength.
- The way their kids watch them train with confidence and learn: 'Oh, this is what it looks like to trust your body and challenge it responsibly.'

This work isn't about fixing what's broken or chasing an ideal.
It's about remembering what capacity feels like when your body actually trusts the process.

Not chasing change for change's sake.
But cultivating the conditions where strength can build sustainably — where your body feels safe enough to be challenged, prepared enough to handle load, and confident enough to keep showing up.

That's what I love most.
Being witness to the moment someone realizes:
'I don't need another generic program. I don't need to push through pain. I don't need to choose between getting strong and feeling good.
I need to understand my body. And train it intelligently. And I can.'

That's Groundwork.
Rooted in safety.
Your nervous system learns movement is safe, not threatening.
Resilient through practice.
Built on sustainable principles, not burnout cycles.
Ready to rise into capacity.
Strength, freedom, confidence — the fullness of what's possible.

Evolution through integration. That's the Groundwork Way. ✨

What inspired you to start your own business?

Honestly?
Groundwork wasn't born from a business plan.
It was born from breaking down.

I remember standing in my kitchen in my 20s, reaching for a glass, and feeling my shoulder seize.
That moment when I realized: My body has become my enemy, not my home.
I had been the strong one. The trainer. The one who pushed through pain. The one with all the answers.

But I didn't have the answers when I couldn't trust my body to move without compensation. When one restriction triggered another, and another, until I didn't recognize my own movement patterns anymore.

The hardest part wasn't the physical limitation — it was the grief.
Grief that my body, which had always been my ally in training and in life, now felt like something working against me.

I had studied, trained, and coached for years.
I knew anatomy, biomechanics, exercise science. I had all the 'right' credentials.
But none of it helped me.
Because the systems I'd been taught stayed shallow — treating parts, not the whole human.

Physical therapy addressed my structure but missed my nervous system.
Training programs built my strength but ignored why I was bracing during every movement.
Chiropractic and massage released tension temporarily, but it always came back.

No one talked about how stress shows up in your jaw when you lift. How fear creates compensation patterns. How your body learns to protect itself by restricting movement.
No one taught me how to listen to what my body was trying to tell me.

So I had to figure it out myself.
Through years of struggle, trial and error, studying everything I could find about nervous systems, fascia, pain neuroscience, somatic practices, movement assessment — I started piecing together something different.

Not just fixing symptoms. But understanding the whole story.
I learned that my body wasn't broken. It was speaking.
And when I finally began to listen rather than force, everything changed.

Groundwork is what I needed when no one else could help me.
It's the answer to the question I kept asking: 'Why isn't anyone preparing the body before loading it? Why isn't anyone working with the whole human?'

It's everything I lived, studied, and survived — integrated into something that actually works:
✓ Starting with nervous system safety, not just jumping into training
✓ Honouring how stress patterns show up in your movement and tissues
✓ Building foundation before demanding performance
✓ Understanding that pain and restriction are information, not weakness
✓ Teaching you to become your own authority, not stay dependent

Because sustainable strength and pain-free movement aren't about hustling harder or pushing through signals.
They're about creating the conditions where your body feels safe enough to build capacity naturally.

I started Groundwork because I couldn't not create it.

Because I kept meeting people just like me:
- Athletes and trainers whose bodies finally said 'enough' to typical training approaches.
- High-achievers who pushed through pain until they couldn't anymore.
- Former fitness enthusiasts who loved training but kept getting injured.
- People in chronic pain who'd tried everything and were told to 'just live with it.'
- Parents whose bodies changed and who needed to rebuild intelligently.
- People who'd been told they were weak or broken, when really, they were just brilliantly protected.
- People who needed someone to say: 'Your body isn't your enemy. It's been trying to help you. Let's learn its language together.'

So yes, Groundwork was born in the void.
In that dark place where nothing I'd been taught was working.
In the grief of losing trust in my own body.
In the slow, spiralling journey back to capability and confidence.

And now, it's what I offer to anyone standing in that same place:
A way back to trusting your body.

Not through force. Through preparation.
Not through rigid programs. Through intelligent principles.
Not through quick fixes. Through sustainable transformation.

Because what I needed most wasn't another protocol.
I needed someone to help me understand that I wasn't broken.
That capacity was always there, waiting for the right conditions to emerge.

That's why I do this work.
Not because I have all the answers.
But because I've walked the path from pain to trust, from fear to confidence, from protection mode to sustainable strength.

And I know the way back.

Groundwork is building from the root.
Laying the foundation of safety, preparation, and self-trust —
And rising from there.

Whether you're here to train intelligently or restore movement you thought was lost, the path is the same:
Listen to your body. Prepare it properly. Build sustainably.

Evolution through integration. That's the Groundwork Way. ✨

Why should our clients choose you?

Because you're tired of being treated like a problem to solve.
You've tried programs that promised results but left you feeling more disconnected from your body than before.
You've been given generic plans that didn't account for your pain, your compensation patterns, your nervous system, your real life.
You've been told to 'just push through' when your body was asking you to prepare it properly first.

And maybe you're starting to wonder: Is there anyone who actually sees me as a whole human — not just a body to train or fix?
Yes. That's what we do here.

At Groundwork, you're not just a client.
You're a whole human.

Your body carries a story — of injury, training history, stress patterns, resilience, protection.
Your nervous system carries wisdom — signals you've learned to ignore but need to hear.

Your goals deserve more than a cookie-cutter program.
Whether you want to train intelligently or restore movement you thought was lost, you deserve to be seen, understood, and guided — not just given exercises.

This isn't surface-level coaching.

This is coaching with:
✨ Depth — we don't just address symptoms, we explore what's underneath
✨ Devotion — your transformation matters to us, deeply
✨ Discernment — we adapt to what YOUR body needs, not what a generic program says you 'should' do

Everything at Groundwork is personalized — built from the inside out.
This isn't a program you have to fit into.
It's a process that adapts to you.
To your movement patterns.
Your nervous system state.
Your training history.
Your energy levels.
Your life circumstances.
To the days you feel strong and the days you need rest.
To the way your body moves, holds tension, and communicates.
Because one-size-fits-all has never worked for bodies that are anything but generic.

What Makes Groundwork Different
1. We prepare your body BEFORE we challenge it
Maybe you've been told to 'just push through' or 'no pain, no gain.'
We say something completely different:
Your body isn't weak. It's protecting itself.
When you've been injured before, or pushed past signals repeatedly, or trained in ways that created compensation, your nervous system gets stuck in protection mode — restricting range, creating tension, guarding movement 'just in case.'
We don't force your body to perform differently.
We help your nervous system feel safe enough to move freely first.

You'll notice:
- Tension releasing in areas you didn't know you were holding
- Joints moving more freely during training
- Your body responding instead of resisting
- Building strength that feels sustainable, not fragile
- Training or moving without fear

Because when your body feels safe and prepared, capacity builds naturally.

2. We see you as a whole human, not just a body
Your shoulder pain during pressing isn't just about your rotator cuff.
It might be compensation from restricted thoracic spine.
It might be stress that lives in your tissues.
It might be an old pattern from years of carrying burdens — literal and metaphorical.
We don't just train muscles or treat symptoms.

We work with the whole story:
- How your breath reflects your nervous system state under load
- How stress patterns show up in your jaw, shoulders, hips
- How old injuries create lasting compensation and fear patterns
- What your body might be trying to communicate through restriction or pain

Because lasting transformation happens when we address all the layers — not just the physical.

3. We meet you exactly where you are
Maybe you're an athlete whose body finally said 'enough' to typical training.
Maybe you're returning to fitness after injury and afraid of re-injury.
Maybe you're in chronic pain and have tried everything.
Maybe you're carrying stress and feel exhausted all the time.
Wherever you are, we meet you there.
With compassion, not judgment.
With precision, not generic advice.
With care, not pressure.

This work is trauma-aware and nervous system-informed, which means:
- We move at the pace of trust, not arbitrary timelines
- We honour your body's protective responses instead of overriding them
- We never push past what feels safe
- We believe your body's signals over any external 'should'

You're not behind. You're not broken. You're exactly where you need to be.

4. Progress here looks different — and feels like freedom
Not perfection. Not performance for others. Not punishing yourself into change.

Progress at Groundwork means:
✨ Strength that feels safe — not forced, not scary, just capable
✨ Movement without fear — confidence that your body can handle challenge
✨ Rhythms that feel natural — practices that fit your life, not disrupt it
✨ A body that feels like an ally — not something to manage, but something that enhances your life

You'll notice:
- Training or moving without bracing — no more pre-emptive protection
- Energy that lasts all day — not crashing by 2pm because your nervous system is regulated
- Moving with confidence — no more hyperawareness of every twinge
- Trusting your body's signals — knowing what it needs before pain has to tell you
- Building capacity you thought was lost — returning to activities you love

This is what sustainable transformation feels like.

5. We're not about resolutions. We're about roots.
Quick fixes fade.
Rigid programs break under real life.
Resolutions made from 'should' don't last.
But when you build from the root — when you create true safety, preparation, and trust in your body — the results hold.

Clients tell me:
"I pressed weight overhead and realized I wasn't bracing for pain. I was just... pressing."
'I reached down to pick something up and didn't think about my back for the first time in years.'
'I have energy to play with my kids again.'
'I'm not afraid to train anymore.'
'I finally trust my body. It's not my enemy — it's my ally.'

That's the Groundwork Way.
Rooted in safety.
Built on intelligent preparation.
Rising into sustainable capacity.

The Bottom Line:
Groundwork meets you wherever you are — literally and metaphorically.

With grounded support.
Deep coaching.
And a rooted space to rise.
Mobile. Virtual. In-Person. Self-Guided.
All roads lead to the same place: coming home to your body.

Evolution through integration. That's the Groundwork Way. ✨

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

At Groundwork Collective, safety isn't just a protocol — it's woven into everything we do.

Your well-being matters. Your comfort matters. Your nervous system's need for safety matters.
So we've adapted in ways that honour both health guidelines and your human needs — whether you're training with me or restoring movement.

Here's how we keep you safe:
1. Complete flexibility in how we work together
You choose what feels safest for your body and your life.

Whether that's:
✓ Fully online coaching from the comfort of your home
✓ In-person sessions when you're ready and it feels safe
✓ Self-guided online program (Groundwork Depth) for complete autonomy
✓ Hybrid support — a mix of formats, adapting as your needs change

Your comfort comes first. Always.
If circumstances change, we adjust.
If you need to switch formats, we adapt.
If you're not ready for in-person yet, we meet you where you are.
No pressure. No judgment. Just support.

2. Clean, mindful practices for in-person sessions
When we do meet in person — whether for training or movement work — you can trust:
✅ Clean environment — surfaces sanitized between sessions
✅ Fresh air flow — windows open, ventilation prioritized
✅ Space to breathe — physical distancing respected when needed
✅ Equipment sanitized — if using weights, bands, or props
✅ Flexibility around contact — hands-on adjustments or spotting only with your explicit consent (always, regardless of Covid)
✅ Responsive to guidelines — we stay current with health recommendations

You'll never be put in a position that doesn't feel safe.

3. Trauma-aware communication about your needs
- We talk openly about what you need to feel safe.
- Maybe you need to reschedule if you're feeling unwell.
- Maybe you prefer to stay fully virtual for now.
- Maybe you want in-person sessions but with extra precautions.
- Maybe you're ready to train in person but want to maintain distance during non-training moments.

Whatever you need, we listen.

Because your nervous system can't regulate, train effectively, or restore movement if it doesn't feel safe — and that includes feeling safe from health risks.

You're always part of the conversation. Your needs matter. Your boundaries are honored.

4. Nervous system safety as the foundation (always)
Here's what we know:
Chronic stress and fear take a toll on your immune system, your pain levels, your recovery capacity, and your ability to build strength sustainably.
Living in constant threat mode — whether from health concerns, training anxiety, pain, or life stress — keeps your body from accessing the regulation it needs to thrive.

So we create conditions where your nervous system can soften:
- Through breathwork that activates your vagus nerve (your body's natural calming system)
- Through practices that help you feel safe in your body, even when the world feels uncertain
- Through coaching that honours your pace, your fears, your real experience — whether you're training or healing
- Because feeling safe — emotionally, physically, systemically — is where sustainable capacity builds.

5. Supporting your resilience through uncertain times
This work has always been about more than just movement or training.
It's about building resilience. Creating capacity. Learning to regulate yourself when life feels unsteady.
The tools we practice together — breathwork, body awareness, nervous system regulation, intelligent training principles — are exactly what you need to navigate stress, uncertainty, and change.

Not just for Covid. For life.

You'll notice:
- Feeling more grounded even when circumstances are unpredictable
- Having tools to calm yourself when anxiety rises
- Building strength and capacity that supports your immune system and overall resilience
- Trusting your body's ability to adapt, recover, and handle challenge
- Training or moving with confidence instead of fear

In short:
Groundwork is committed to keeping you safe, supported, and empowered — so you can focus on building capacity without added stress.

We adapt to meet your needs.
We honour your comfort and boundaries.
We create the conditions where your nervous system feels safe enough to build strength, restore movement, and thrive.

Because safety isn't just about protocols.
It's about trust. Flexibility. Listening. And creating space for your body to remember what capacity feels like.
