Caroline recently helped me a lot with just one hypnotherapy session, following a recent stressful event and some lasting trauma meant I was experiencing lots of anxiety. Caroline was really in tune with what I needed from the session, it was very gentle (being heavily pregnant Caroline understood how sensitive I am). I felt super comfortable, so relaxed and feel much calmer ever since. Thank you! x

In our session, we will use methods to gently down-regulate phobias, fears, anxieties, negative thoughts or feelings, physical pain and much more while using cutting edge neuroscience and positive psychology methods effectively and quickly. We can also explore any limiting beliefs and transform them into helpful ones that promote the changes you want to make. The principal way I work is not just 'downregulating' the storage of what you don't want, but working closely with WHAT YOU WANT INSTEAD!

I offer a non-judgemental breathing space in which you can put the World on hold and, with no one making demands on you, reflect, pinpoint what’s really troubling you, get to the root cause then choose what, if anything, you want to do about it. I can help with many issues particularly high anxiety, working with couples on their relationship and with those baffled by uncontrollable overeating that, whilst not a full blown eating disorder, non the less feels compulsive, addictive even, with names like comfort eating, emotional eating or binge eating.

Talking when things get on top of you is so important and Claire is brilliant at being that ear! She is knowledgable, caring, very experienced and immediately put me at ease. Being able to talk to someone who is completely impartial, has no agenda and is there for YOU can make a huge difference. Thank you Claire for your time and I hope my experience helps convince anyone who's unsure about whether to seek help.

In an uncertain world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, lost and unable to cope. Life can quickly get on top of you. Each day is a struggle and your negative thoughts can get out of control. These emotions can lead to anxiety, stress, depression, relationship problems, sleeping and eating issues or even suicidal thoughts. Maybe there are issues you’ve been struggling with for some time or perhaps something has happened that has thrown you off course.

I had wanted to do yoga for many years, but had never had the courage to find myself a class until I became pregnant last year. I started classes when I was 18 weeks and Linda encouraged me to join a class with other women with a similar due date to me.
At every stage of my pregnancy, Linda was attentive to my needs and helped me and the rest of the class exercise safely. These classes were also excellent preparation for birth as the all important breathing techniques that I found the NHS simply do not provide were regularly covered and I found them to be invaluable during my birthing experience. I was able to use them to control my pain and consequently gave birth without the use of drugs - something I'm sure I would not have done had I not had the correct training throughout my pregnancy!
I have also found these classes to be invaluable when it came to meeting other mothers. Each week, we would share baby news, which meant that we gradually got to know each other. As a class, we all came back after all the babies were born and did the baby massage and baby yoga class together - something my son has thoroughly enjoyed and continues to do so as the songs we learned helped to make the yoga fun and really forge a bond between the two of us - one song in particular is nearly always guaranteed to evoke a smile and even end tears! Five months later and my class are still meeting up weekly - I've just finished clearing up after hosting today's get-together!
Four months after birth, I started a 'normal' yoga class and Linda has continued to be caring and supportive in my bid to shape up, always advising me on how to exercise safely, but also encouraging me to push myself and try new things.
I have only positive things to say about Linda and the yoga experience she provides for all the life stages I have experienced, but particularly during my pregnancy. If you are expecting a baby, you will find that yoga is a fantastic way to bond with your baby and prepare you for

You are probably reading this because confusion, sadness, anxiety, unhappiness, loss, addiction, life events have or are threatening to derail your life. So, what you really want to know is: how can I help? I am a qualified senior social worker, counsellor (BACP accredited) and supervisor. For 12 years I worked in a psycho-social-spiritual care team in a hospice. Prior to this I worked in social work settings in hospitals, with families and within mental health and I have managed a district team of social workers. Most recently I have worked as a Wellness Coach as well as setting up my private practice. Thus, I have many years of experience working with people of all ages, facing all the above conditions.
I am forever surprised and delighted at the human potential to transform life events, sometimes unwanted ,into a meaningful and enhanced future. I feel very rewarded when my intervention is part of this process.
I have for most of my working life worked in social work and counselling and working with people is a great privilege for me.
After many years experience in this work, I wanted to continue in a more personal setting.I restrict the number of clients I see so that I really do have time to reflect on your issues and to further read and research, as may sometimes be appropriate.I will try to formulate a plan that will really help you.
In counselling you can expect that I will offer you a safe space in which we will explore your story together. Some questions may inevitably remain unanswered, but I will help you reach understanding and peace for yourself so that you can find a comfortable and positive way forward. In addition to my qualifications and experience, I am committed to ongoing professional development by attending short courses on relevant subjects and I read extensively to update and enhance my knowledge. I have had my share of life sadness and loss, including a potentially life-threatening illness. I believe life does not have to be defined by the past and that past experiences, both good and bad, can be encompassed to create great potential. There are many roads to find real meaning, peace and joy in life. This will be our endeavour for you.
After our first session we will agree a timescale to work together. This will usually be on a weekly basis for a short or long term, which we will regularly review.
My professional qualifications are:
Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)
Counsellor registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling
2001
Diploma in Supervision of Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Related Professionals
2007
Registered Member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Certificate of Qualification of Social Work (CQSW)
DBS Checked
I undertake continuing professional development and personal supervision.
How much do Therapists cost?
This will vary according to the level of experience and training that the therapist holds.
This will depend on where you live, what level of training your therapist has and what they specialise in (whether they are a counsellor, psychotherapist or psychologist) and also how many years of working experience they have.
Your professional therapist will be able to advise you on the full range of therapies available and will be able to help you select the best one to suit your needs. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have. Use Bark to get free quotes and find a trusted therapist today.
How do I find the right Therapist?
You need to devote some time to finding the right therapist as the connection you have with your therapist is essential. You need someone who you can trust, someone you feel comfortable talking to about difficult subjects and intimate secrets, someone who will be a partner in your recovery. Therapy will not be effective unless you have this bond, so take some time in the beginning to find the right person.
It is worth talking to a few potential therapists and asking questions. Therapists also have special areas of focus, such as depression or eating disorders. For some issues, such as trauma or PTSD, seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.
How many sessions of Therapy will I need?
Everyone’s treatment is different. How long your therapy lasts depends on many factors.
You may be offered a single session of counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.
It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your trusted Bark therapist.
What should I look for in a Therapist?
Professional counsellor training takes three to five years and can be a diploma or degree level. Qualification requires a minimum number of client hours acquired through a work placement.
You may also want to ask for testimonials of their recent work. You could also look at their profile page on Bark and Bark can show you reviews from past customers who have used their therapy.
What are the benefits of Therapy?
Therapy has repeatedly and consistently helped patients with a whole host of issues. It can help with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or an eating disorder. Or it can help with an upsetting physical health condition such as infertility, a difficult life event such as a bereavement or a relationship breakdown. It can also be used to tackle difficult emotions such as low self-esteem, anger or sexual identity issues. Therapists also offer couples therapy. Therapists can also help with anxiety issues deriving from the coronavirus.
Can I get a Therapist online?
Absolutely! Many therapists offer sessions over the phone or through an online video chat platform, so you can have a session from the comfort of your own home - all you need is a strong internet connection and you're good to go.
