Awaken Hypnotherapy

It is a big step taking action to seek out therapy so be proud that you have taken control of your life and want better for yourself. I have 12 years of experience helping adults and teenagers change their lives through hypnotherapy. Not only is hypnotherapy highly effective, but the sessions themselves are truly pleasant and relaxing. We also don't need to delve into your past if you don't want to, as sessions tend to be focused on the positive changes you want for your future. I specialise in building confidence and issues around stress and anxiety. I can help you feel confident, calm and in control, including for specific events, such as exams, work presentations or performances. I can also help with motivation and establishing healthy and effective habits related to study, work or training. One of the things I love about being a hypnotherapist is that it can help with a long list of difficulties, due to the fact that most of our thinking, emotion and behaviour is routed in the subconscious. It's just a shame that it is so misunderstood and under-utilised as a therapy. Choosing the right therapist often comes down to simply having a positive feeling about a person so please look at my website and social media to get more of a sense of me and feel free to get in contact with any questions.

What do you love most about your job?

Being a therapist is incredibly rewarding. Hypnotherapy is still misunderstood and often a last resort for people needing help so it’s always great when a sceptic is turned!

Knowing that you have supported someone to make positive changes is truly inspiring.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I work part time as a secondary school teacher and have 18 years experience working in secondary education within pastoral care, safeguarding and leadership.

With a background in psychology, I have always been passionate about helping people with their mental health, which is what lead to me gaining qualifications in hypnotherapy, counselling and psychotherapy back in 2009. This then lead to safeguarding and pastoral roles supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties within school but I also had a desire to work with adults.

Maybe it was the prospect of turning 40 that motivated me to start a private practice this year!

Why should our clients choose you?

Choosing a therapist is not just about qualifications but I hope that mine give reassurance that I am highly knowledgable and well connected to networks that keep my standards high and aware of recent research.

I have a Diploma in Hypnotherapy & Counselling Skills, an Advanced Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a degree in Psychology and over 12 years experience helping people deal with their internal barriers, particularly around stress and anxiety. I have completed a wide range of courses over the years on a range of topics linked to mental health.

I am a Registrant Member of The National Hypnotherapy Society, which is the only hypnotherapy organisation with a register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. Being a member of this society demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety and delivering a better service.

I am also a member of The British Psychological Society, which means I am part of the UK's biggest community of psychologists.

Aside from the qualifications, a look through my social media pages will hopefully give you a better feel for me as a therapist and of course we can always have a chat over the phone for you to see how that feels. I offer a free, no obligation initial consultation, which is a great way for you to see whether you feel comfortable and relaxed with me, which is so important for hypnotherapy to be successful.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I can offer sessions via Skype, Microsoft teams, FaceTime or WhatsApp video call.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

My face to face therapy room allows for social distancing and clients have the option of online sessions if they prefer.
