Active Aims

Certificate of Excellence 2015

Wellbeing is a combination of both physical and mental health, I therefore offer personal training and psychological coaching. The using these interventions simultaneously works well for health behaviour change, weight loss and exercise adherence. Although Personal training and exercise prescription requires a scientific approach, thoroughly understanding client needs, goals and expectations is psychological. Getting this right means my clients always get results by working towards realistic targets, which fit with their lifestyle. Prior to commencing and physical exercise programme, appropriate, tests are carried out to identify joint alignment, muscle balance and current level of fitness. Additionally body composition which includes weight, height, fat percentage, lean tissue and basal metabolic rate are also taken. This gives us the correct starting point for any programme prescription. Psychological coaching can be taken as a stand alone service and is a popular approach for weight loss, health behaviour change, stress management and anxiety. You can also access counselling through Active Aims although I don't deliver this service myself. If you would like to know more about the difference between coaching and counselling and which would be right for you please visit http://www.activeaims.co.uk/personal-health/coaching-and-counselling/ I also offer online personal training this is ideal for those who are self motivated or committed to achieving their goal. I provide, exercise programmes, dietary advice, recipes and telephone or Skype support on a weekly basis.

Osteo.Pilates

I am a registered Osteopath and Polestar Pilates instructor. I am dedicated to offering a global approach in preventing and managing pain. I have treated patients aged from 16 to 94 years old, presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and systemic issues. I have developed a structural approach to osteopathy, with a preference towards sports and movement restrictions, injuries and rehabilitation, elderly care, pregnancy, and chronic pain. My six-year experience as a Polestar Pilates instructor strongly influences my practice of osteopathy. I believe that movement is at the core of health and happiness. My enthusiastic eye for movement and postural alignment has also been fuelled by many years of classical ballet, ice-skating, and aerial circus. I am currently a very keen rock climber in my spare time. I employ a broad range of gentle yet effective techniques including soft tissue massage, articulation, advanced spinal manipulation, and mindfulness to ensure my patients achieve the best possible outcome from my treatments. Helping people live richer and healthier lives, through a deep curiosity and understanding of their own individual biomechanical and psychological influences, is what I strive to achieve every day.
