I was expecting a big date in a few months and wanted to look/feel my best. I was struggling to find a personal trainer in the area that fit my needs and seemed the best fit, until I spoke with Anthony at AB Fitness. What got my attention at first was that he was interviewing me to see if I'd be the right fit for the place--he cared about being able to provide what I was looking for and cared that we'd be the right fit for each other. After I joined, he worked with me closely on a customized meal plan and answered all the silly questions I had. The gym itself is a small but motivating studio, with trainers that pay close attention to your movements and strengths and motivated me to push harder. The trainers are kind, motivating and extremely helpful. The first week I was sore like crazy, but with the consistency of it it became second nature. I was only there for six weeks because I ended up moving really far, but in six weeks I lost the pounds and inches I was hoping to lose and I genuinely feel stronger in all parts of my body--my endurance has increased immensely. The workouts and food tips I've learned throughout my time at AB Fitness I plan to carry with me throughout my life as I work on creating healthier habits and building a sustainable lifestyle. I'm grateful to have found AB Fitness and would recommend anyone to check them out!

I have been training at TFW Long Island since they opened 2 years ago. Prior to that I did not belong to a gym and I was not in shape. I was afraid to walk into a gym like this but I quickly found it to be a very supportive atmosphere. The coaches frequently modify the workout for various levels of ability or for those with prior injuries. While weight training intimidated me at first, I quickly learned to love it. The coaches made a task that seemed impossible to me into something that was very doable. Your membership at TFW long Island does not end when you walk out of the gym doors, There is constant support from the coaches as well as your fellow gym members through the gym's facebook member page. In addition, discussions with the staff and members about nutrition and weekly recipes helped me incorporate better nutrition into my life. Over the last two years I have become leaner, lost 4 sizes, and built muscle, but more importantly, I have gained confidence in myself and found a great way to relieve stress. I would highly recommend TFW Long Island to anyone looking to make a change in their life.

Barbara is awesome. She truly knows how to connect with kids and train them within their ability and age. To often kids try to workout without being educated and hurt themselves. Barbara is a great voice and provides wonderful guidance on how these young adults should to it right.Highly recommend you give Barbara a call!

I've been training with Chris for almost 10 years, on and off due to my inconsistencies. I'm now back with full commitment. In just three weeks, I feel stronger, more confident and happier. Chris knows me and all his clients very well and is very attentive to our needs. He is not only a great and knowledgeable trainer, but his personality allows him to retain his clients for a long time and he has the ability to attract prior clients back to him without solicitation. We come back because we want him! He has inspired me. He has more faith in what I can do than I do for myself. Thank you so much for helping me get my life back. Now let's kill it!! GDFR. Love, BEASTMODE
Should I work out every day of the week?
It depends on your end goal. If you’re training for a marathon, you might work out nearly every day of the week. If you’re a low-level beginner, a minimum of three times a week is enough to make a noticeable impact. No matter what you’re working out for, everyone needs rest and recovery days. Without them, your muscles won’t be able to recuperate and grow strong, so remember to factor in some down-time, too!
Where can I have my personal training sessions?
Pretty much anywhere! The great thing about personal training is that it’s flexible - as long as you have the necessary equipment, you and your instructor can decide to have your sessions from the gym, your home, the park, or even your office if you want to!
Does my fitness instructor need to know anything about me?
Yes! First of all, they will chat with you about your goals, and discuss the best way to achieve them. They should also ask you to fill in a consent form to check that you don’t have any pre-existing health conditions that could impact your exercise. They’ll also carry out a health assessment to get a better idea of your current fitness level, tailoring your workout plan around that.
What does a standard personal training session involve?
It's tricky to say, as personal training sessions vary significantly depending on what you want to achieve and the type of workout. Generally, one personal training session tends to last forty-five minutes to one hour. It will start with a gentle warm-up, followed by the nitty-gritty of the actual workout, with stretches to end the session. Remember, warming up and stretching is essential for injury prevention - it’s just as important as the main part of the workout!
What qualifications should a personal trainer have?
A personal trainer needs to be clued up on all aspects of fitness, from the most effective exercise techniques to nutrition and human anatomy- that’s a lot of responsibility! You need to make sure your professional is suitably qualified for the job. After all, you shouldn’t cut corners when it comes to investing in your health. Make sure your trainer has the minimum qualifications required to practice. In the UK, this is the Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
Can I get a Personal Trainer online?
Absolutely! Online personal training has become increasingly popular as more people are looking to maintain their fitness during lockdowns and gyms closing. As long as you and your personal trainer have a strong internet connection and a device to stream on like a laptop, tablet or smartphone, there's no reason why your session can't be delivered remotely.
