Concordia Counselling

Sometimes, life can feel really challenging. When you consider your relationships, friendships and work, do you feel in control and content? Are you comfortable with yourself and feel valuable and confident? Do you spend a lot of time feeling anxious, perhaps unable to sleep and maybe unable to cope when things aren’t going well? Have you suffered a bereavement or other loss which continues to impact upon your quality of life? Are other memories or experiences continuing to upset you regularly? If either you or a loved one can readily identify with any of these situations, then you may have considered the possibility of counselling. An opportunity to discuss and work through thoughts and feelings can often offer new insights, perspectives and opportunities to either make beneficial life changes or better manage and cope with current or past difficulties. I have experience in working with a wide range of concerns, working with clients within a safe, confidential and non–judgemental therapeutic relationship. I work hard to ensure that clients feel heard, respected and valued in exploring their worries at a pace appropriate to them. Taking the decision to consider counselling can often be daunting and is always brave. I understand that your perspectives and requirements are unique and that you will require an approach that best works for you. If you are already seeking a counsellor, then you will probably have considered what you are hoping to gain from a therapeutic relationship. Working together, I would offer you support in actively listening to what is important for you and thinking about how you could make changes that would increase your self–esteem, confidence and feeling able to cope with potentially difficult situations; to enjoy a better quality of life. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

What do you love most about your job?

I am extremely passionate in working with clients to explore their concerns and to offer a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment in which to assist them in becoming empowered to identify new perspectives and choices.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Both my personal and professional experience prior to and since completing qualification as a Counselling Practitioner attest to the impact that life can have upon a human being’s mental health.

During a five–and–a–half year period as an employment advisor, when I successfully utilised a range of life coaching skills in assisting people facing various life challenges, I became increasingly passionate not only around the subject of mental health but empowering people to help themselves.

I subsequently realised that the humanistic approach (recognising an individual’s uniqueness and capacity for psychological growth) which I had instinctively adopted with clients in that context, can be extremely effective within a therapeutic relationship.

Throughout studying towards qualification and since becoming a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (“BACP”), I have been humbled by the resilience, determination and bravery of clients who have chosen to collaborate with me, in attempting to better understand their perceptions and world views. By enhancing this understanding, they have overcome many challenges; making meaningful changes to their lives. This has empowered them to enjoy greater authenticity to themselves and autonomy in decision–making and their relationships with others.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have experienced my own mental health issues in the past and engaged in a considerable amount of counselling to enable myself to move forward and enjoy better quality of life.

I passionately believe in the power of counselling to assist in enhancing life opportunities, because I have experienced them myself and also been privileged to help empower clients who have benefitted greatly from counselling.

I would offer you an initial consultation without charge or obligation and together, we can discuss what your requirements and goals are and whether I would represent a "good fit" to help you to move towards them.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Currently, I am working solely remotely, via online video platform, telephone or text if requried.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

To circumnavigate any issues arising from the pandemic, currently, I am only offering online engagement.
