If you're looking for help with depression, anxiety or panic attacks, stress or the effects of trauma or abuse then there's a very good chance I can help you. I specialise in working with the effects of trauma - whether current or going way back into childhood. The unresolved effects of trauma can sit in one's physical body for a very long time. As a trained, accredited and experienced practitioner of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) I use it 80% of the time in my work now.
I offer a safe, warm and empathetic environment, where together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I hold the belief that we all have the potential for change and growth, but sometimes this needs to be nurtured. Whether you are seeking help for anxiety, depression, trauma or loss, I can help support you. I do this by really hearing you, working with you to understand your story. We may talk about what is going on for you in the here and now, or we may also link back to your earlier relationships and experiences to gain an understanding of what your patterns might be and how that impacts you now. We will always go at a pace that suits you. As well as empathetic listening, I can also help you through psychoeducation and gentle challenge - helping you to see things through a different lens. My offices are based in the beautiful Surrey countryside, in a village just outside of Cobham. It offers both comfort and privacy. I will also continue to offer online and telephone counselling, making counselling accessible to you, wherever you are. Get in touch so we can arrange a free 30-minute telephone consultation so that you can tell me your needs and see if I am a good fit for you.
I love being with people, sitting with them through their tough times and good as they find better, more healthy ways to live their lives. I feel inspired by people's capacity to change and I enjoy helping them to find different ways to view things and new ways to do things. I have enjoyed a varied career, but this is by far the most rewarding one.
I came to counselling after significant changes in my own life, and this was when I experienced the value of counselling for the first time. I found a safe space, just for me, where I could talk through what was happening and where my feelings could be contained and supported. The counselling I received at that time was invaluable in helping me to move forward to a happier, more fulfilled version of me. I understand what it can be like seeking help for the first time and I can help support you in taking those first steps to change.
I am known for my warmth and compassion and can help support you in finding a better, more fulfilled version of yourself.
As well as in-person counselling, I am also experienced in both online and telephone counselling.
I have worked online throughout the last year and will be reopening my offices in mid-May. Online and telephone counselling has ensured physical safety, as well as maintained a regular, consistent space for therapy, minimising the need for breaks due to self-isolation or further lockdowns. I will continue to offer online/telephone counselling to all of my clients in the case of further lockdowns so that we can easily move from in-person to remote therapy.
My office is in a large, airy space, where we can comfortably sit with at least 2 metres between us with windows open. I leave ample time between clients to ensure that I can clean all surfaces between appointments and I provide hand sanitiser to all clients.
