What do you love most about your job?

I'm fascinated by people. I love delivering people solutions - which often exist solely in the grey areas - to positively impact commercial results.

People by their nature are complex and unpredictable, and when you layer in employment law, operating environment and personal circumstances, inevitably you need to adapt your approach from topic to topic.

The challenge of needing to continually do things based on the circumstances means that I never get bored, and I'm always learning something new.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I need lots of mental stimulation, including working with different people and in different environments. Consultancy seemed a good way to use my skills and experience in a wide variety of operating contexts, and keep me on my toes!

Why should our clients choose you?

To me, providing great HR support is about so much more than technical expertise. Knowing your stuff is the baseline. Being able to adapt to different organisational cultures and understanding that solutions need to be tailor made to those cultures is key. I like to take the sometimes complex HR topics and translate them into plain English, and strike a good balance between coming up with creative solutions and overcomplicating matters unnecessarily.

I take a collaborative approach: HR's role is to oil the wheels of a business and facilitate success as a result. I'm the ultimate pragmatist, I'm straight talking, and solutions focused. That said, I'm affable, transparent and people seem to like working with me!
