What do you love most about your job?

I think outside of the box when it comes to finding a HR solution for SMEs as the same approach doesn't suit every company culture, particularly in micro companies. I get a lot of satisfaction after working with owners/managers to turn a problem or employee relations matter around and achieve a sucessful result!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked in large corporates in New York for many years but when I returned to my native Mayo, I recognised the critical need for SMEs to get some help with their HR as it has become a minefield for small business owners. I find many who are often lost, stressed out and overwhelmed when trying to run their business and manage their employees so I decided to start providing services to SMEs rather than work for a big company. I get great satisfaction when I take that pain away for the business owners and give them peace of mind that they can call somebody when they need advice before making mistakes. Employees can be your biggest asset when working well but when something goes wrong, they can be your biggest liability.

We currently provide 95% of services on line/remotely and this has been successful and has saved our clients in travel/time fees. On-site visit is always available when the client needs that. What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I've written up and provided advice on keeping employees safe, treating them fairly, helping to set up and writing policies such as for working remotely application and procedure and the right to disconnect, tutorials, training and workshops on how to manage employees if they need to lay off, PUP, TWSS and EWSS subsidy pay schemes, changing terms and conditions of employment, employees refusing to return to work, vulnerable employees, back to work self-declaration form, etc.
