My name is Rob Cooper. I am a Life Coach and Stress Therapist. My primary aim is to help people achieve their full potential and reduce the effect of stress in their lives. Before 2017, I considered myself lucky in life, with no particular hurdles to overcome, good health and I had also achieved much of what I wanted. Or should I say, what I thought I wanted? I was chasing the usual stuff, a better job, more money, a nice house and a holiday in the sun. To make things even better, I had a small company involved with vehicle dynamics. Yep, I was pretty darn lucky. It was a shame that I didn’t appreciate it. All I felt was frustration with nothing ever going to plan. I had an underlying feeling I couldn’t quite put my finder on. That was 2017 and looking back, I was getting irritable. Really irritable. Then there was a eureka moment. It was a conversation with a near stranger and he told me to stop. Stop doing everything for just 5 minutes and to take some time to consider what I was doing and why. It raised my interest and I started asking myself some important questions. Albeit, at times, basic questions. At the time, I wasn’t helping myself move forward at all and I needed a nudge in the right direction. I was being a perfectionist and was very self-critical. Actually, I was quite unpleasant to myself at times. My own negative voice was starting to take hold, without me even realising. That stranger kick-started something quite unexpected. We continued to have conversations over the next year and I have changed how I see the world. The way I see myself within that world has changed completely too. I set myself a goal. To become a CBH Therapist and Coach. To help others like I have been helped. I achieved this goal in 2021, becoming a member of both the ACCPH and NCH. My approach is hybrid. I incorporate evidence-based Neuroscience and Coaching, combined with Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. I’m now able to help people perform closer to their full potential and become less affected by stress. Vital stuff. My challenges are easier with new determination and focus. The challenge could be social situation, a business decision or physical training. Meet the challenge of your goals head-on. No excuses. What do you love most about your job?

The best thing about my job is the variety of ways in which I help people. It can be helping a sporting competitor calm their nerves, boosting the decisiveness of an entrepreneur or the confidence of a teacher. It is a genuine pleasure to help people out of their situation and move closer to what they want to achieve.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My business allowed an emotional freedom. To work to the higher standards that I wanted to achieve and make a difference to peoples lives - not just collect a pay check.

Why should our clients choose you?

I'd like to think my clients work with me because they can relate to me and my difficulties with life. Finding motivation, satisfaction and meaning isn't easy for a lot of people. Admitting that to yourself and then others can be difficult.

I know what it is like to feel pressured and stressed. To sleep badly, or not at all. To look around and see that everyone else seems so calm and in control. It can be pretty overwhelming.

It will hopefully be my approach, which is simple and direct. If something needs to be said, it gets said! Our time is valuable and is about getting to the goal, whatever that may be. We must make things happen in life and congratulate ourselves along the way too.

My services are available either online or face to face.

In the modern world effected by Covid 19, it is more common to use online sessions. It is also cost effective and flexible too.

If people are not confident with computers, I can help them with the technical side.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

This mainly relates to avoidance of face to face sessions. Online sessions are risk free, as far as Covid 19 is concerned.

With regard to face to face sessions, these are generally held in a Therapy Clinic in Colchester or at a business address for perhaps a group meeting.
