Consider the following questions to ask yourself before hiring a sound engineer/production company - I often get calls asking: “ We are planning an event and we need a PA. Can you tell us how much it will be to rent a couple of speakers?” Unfortunately, it is not as simple as that. Why do you need a PA system? Presumably, for all people in the audience to be able to hear clearly, in the case of a concert/band/party to be able to hear whilst having fun. To achieve this it is imperative to have the right equipment, after all, you wouldn’t move the contents of a whole house on a motorbike? However, a simple spec sheet will help the service provider getting the right equipment for the job so you can achieve your objective and it will help us providing you with the best quote. Here are the top 7 things you will need to provide your sound engineer with: Type of venue. Is it a: Theatre? Small Performing Hall (<200 capacity)? Large Performing Hall (>200 capacity)? Gym or a highly reverberant environment? Outdoors? What is the size of venue: Dimensions Levels (I.e stalls, circles, etc) If outdoors - area to cover from stage, residential areas, distance from power What is the size and type of audience How many people you expect? Would the audience be: Sitting? Standing? Or Dancing - active? For what type of program/content Music (band) - please send band spec Loud - Rock/Pop Mid - Jazz/Folk Classical Drama - how many performers? Speech - how many speakers Presentation/Product Launch How many presenters? Do you require projection? Conference How many speakers/presenters? Do you require projection? Power: Provide details of the power available on stage - venue’s technical person will be able to give you this information. Access: Describe access to venue/stage for the equipment - are there steps/lifts? Is there parking? Sound level restrictions Often, venues have sound level restrictions or limiters. This year they helped do our daughters ‘Masquerade’ 21st birthday party in a marquee. The lighting made all the difference to the occasion, setting the scene and creating the best mood for both the dinner and dancing afterwards. Sunny was booked for our engagement drinks in London on Saturday night. He was responsive ahead of the event and made sure everything was prepped ahead of time. On the night, he arrived early so everything was nicely set up when we got there. We provided a playlist, which they played as well as other great tracks that our crowd loved. He even gave us a heads' up when the night was coming to an end so we could finish with one last dance with my fiancé! He was so professional and everyone commented on how great he was; we would definitely book him again.

DJ Armz was very professional. The consultation before was great. He understood my needs and communicated effectively throughout the weeks leading up to my partners 40th birthday. I would recommend him 100%.

I hired two speakers from Aquis Media. Couldn’t have asked for a better service! The speakers were amazing and easy to use, Chris who dropped the speakers off and installed them showed me how to use them. Even when I had to call him after, he was more than happy to assist. I will be using Aquis Media in the future! 5 stars from me!
