How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

"Everyone has a doctor in him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force with each of us is the greatest force in getting well." ~ Hippocrates~

I help people learn to tap into that inner doctor, open the line of communication, and then become fully in-tune. I help them build healthy habits, learn how to assess and analyze what is going on with their health and fitness and then know what to change or adjust, how to make them and when to make them. That lead to long-term sustainable results. I do that through customized health, nutrition, and fitness programs.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Quit focusing on being "perfect." That's the real secret. Find balance in your life and take small consistent actions. Make the choices that someone with the body of your dreams makes on a consistent basis and you'll end up with it.

What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing the transformation in people's lives. I love that when they've complete their programs, they are set up for longterm sustainable results.

Why should our clients choose you?

You should only choose me if you really want to make a change in your body, life, and mindset. If you want to learn and to know, I'm a good choice. If you want to discover which "healthy" foods you're eating that are keeping you from being able to lose your stubborn body fat then I'm your girl. If you want to discover how to move your body better with greater ease, function and be pain-free, talk to me. If you need someone that is patient and can lift you up when your down - then choose me.

BUT

If you simply want to follow a pre-designed diet and exercise program that doesn't take you as a person into consideration at all - don't choose me. If you don't want to get better function from your body so you can enjoy the activities you'd like to in life - please don't call. If you are completely happy with where you are in your life, health, and fitness and have 100% confidence in your body and high self-esteem - you don't need me.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I grew up in a sedentary and overweight family as the 7th of 8 children and we were on and off welfare growing up. When I was a young kid, my brother told me that if I wanted to eat any of the good food, I had to eat it all the moment is was brought home. I didn't believe him until I went downstairs for breakfast and all the "good" cereal had been eaten. So my entire family, including myself grew up with binge-style disordered eating patterns. We all struggled with weight and half my siblings have even had gastric bypass surgery, only to gain the weight back.

I wanted a different life and mostly I really wanted to help my family. So I spent the rest of my life learning and helping others. I always thought, "If I could only get physically fit and weight 125, then I would be happy." That was the elusive dream that I always chased. When I was 24 that dream became reality.

Only, instead of being happy like I thought it would make me, I was literally at the lowest point of my life... as in contemplating taking my own life...

That's when I realized being physically fit was the WRONG goal. In my search for the right answer, I discovered the goal is what I call "functionally fit." It's about creating balance and happiness in your WHOLE life. You could have the healthiest diet, be at peak physical fitness, and still not be happy. Trust me, I know from personal experience.

It became my mission in life to help others join me in this movement of not judging themselves by the number on the scale, and not compare their body to some model's body, but to discover what makes them truly happy and then create the health and fitness level that allows them to enjoy that.

Working in gyms - I couldn't really have that effect. They tend to treat people as numbers and labels, not individuals with complex lives. I couldn't effectively help people the way I do best and so I needed my own business to follow my own guidelines...

And my sweet husband, whom supports all my dreams, helped make it a reality. :-)
