What do you love most about your job?

I love digging into research information to find out things that customers (or members, or buyers, etc.) may not even know about themselves. These are derived insights. For example, you think you care most about fuel efficiency when you go shopping for a car, but then you see the beautiful sunroof.... and it actually turns out that the weight of the car door is what really influences your buying decision. I like helping people figure the equivalent of this example out for their own audiences so they can achieve their goals more effectively.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I starting running Hot Iron Brands in addition to my full-time job because I love this work and I don't get to do enough of it in my "day-job." I want to help organizations with less budget (small businesses, non-profits, etc.) use the same techniques that the other guys with big budgets may or may not use so they can excel. I have since made a full time gig of Hot Iron Brands (and also consult with a firm called The Brand Consultancy that has more creative capabilities as well) and I am really excited to do this as an outlet for my skills and creativity.

First and foremost, the value I can add is telling you things about your target audience you won't uncover if you were to use DIY tools alone (Survey Monkey, etc.). You'll work directly with me, there's no bait and switch. I only take on a couple projects at a time so that I can give all my focus to each one. You'll get my full attention. I keep this process super simple so it's not a burden on you and the results of our work will really help you do your mission better - the aspects that relate to your customers, that is.

Absolutely, I run market research projects remotely, meeting with clients and executing workshops via video conferences. I make workshops interactive to keep everyone engaged, even on video.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Since I meet with my clients remotely, this has not been an issue.
