What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing the positive impact that working with Mustard has on our clients' businesses, and their lives. Often it's as if a weight has been lifted from their shoulders

There's that magical moment when you can see that a client has changed the way they think about their business, re-ingnited the passion they have for what they do, take your advice on board, and make it your own.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In my 30 year career in industry, I have been most proud of my ability to spot hidden talents in people and help them achieve their full potential. With my support, under-valued employees have transformed themselves into valued members of the team, willing to take on responsibility and contribute fully to the growth of the business.

It was through sailing that I first discovered my love of coaching; I am a highly regarded racing coach, known for my ability to adapt my communication style to the audience, to deliver constructive criticism with the aim of improving performance, and for my enormous reserves of patience and persistence – skills which have served me well as a Mustard Adviser too.

When I came across an opportunity to combine my love of helping people to achieve their potential with my broad business experience, it was an opportunity I just had to take.

I am unusual in that I have worked in the corporate world as well as SMEs; I have worked alongside some of the brightest minds in the consulting world, reporting to main board directors of a £600M turnover company; I have worked at every level in a business, from first line supervisor in a steel works, to Operations Director of a manufacturing company; and have held management roles in every department including Customer Service, Supply Chain & Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Business Systems, and Quality & Environmental Management.

I know what it’s like to be the only Director on site with everybody looking to you for answers, and I have been through every one of the Mustard Eight Steps at some stage in my corporate life. I am looking forward to sharing that insight with my clients
