Feeling anxious, worried, depressed, angry or lonely.?Are you finding life or relationships difficult ? I understand it can sometimes be difficult to enter therapy – you have made the first move by looking for a counsellor . I offer a free no, obligation 30 minute appointment to discuss and assess your needs and to see if you would like to join me for your counselling journey . I am a qualified counsellor with over 20 years NHS experience. I’m a registered member of the British Association of counselling and psychotherapy a (BACP) and also a mentor for final year counselling students. I trained integratively which means I am able to use different forms of counselling according to the clients needs, this includes using cognitive behavioural therapy , psychodynamic and person centred therapy when required..I specialise in relationship issues and anxiety management ,in all its forms, including trauma ,self-harm and OCD disorders, but see clients that come to me with a very varied range of issues. I also see teenagers for counselling and have completed specialist training on this . I also work with couples for couples counselling and have completed specialist training on this. I am also a qualified nurse in addition to being a qualified therapist - this has enabled me to learn and utilise biofeedback techniques with my anxious and stressed clients when required:this is a clinically effective and evidence based treatment ,which can produce amazing results. I always feel very humbled and privileged when people choose me as their counselling therapist. Please feel free to contact me at b•••••@••••.com or phone me on (07793) 654154 if you have any questions or queries at all ,I will happily help if I can.

What do you love most about your job?

I love many things about my job. I always feel humbled and privileged when people choose me as their therapist as it is a very special relationship - There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone walk away after completing counselling, feeling lighter ,freer and excited to live their lives after they have healed their emotional wounds. I feel privileged to join my clients on a journey of self discovery.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I feel I have always been compassionate ,sensitive and empathic, hence going into general nurse training and qualifying in the 80s . I have worked in the NHS for many years both on the wards and then in occupational health where I have looked after the mental and physical health and well-being of our staff . As the years have progressed there has been more stress and anxiety within the workplace and I have been heavily involved in starting up a counselling service and providing appropriate training packages to help people alleviate anxiety and stress. Developing my private practice from this has been a natural progression .

Why should our clients choose you?

I believe I am empathic, sensitive and compassionate but also have much experience and training to ensure that my counselling service is both professional And effective.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
