‘20 Certificate of Excellence

I am providing a one-to-one at-home tutoring service within and around the Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Barking & Dagenham area. I am an experienced Year Group Leader/Maths lead and teacher who has been working in the borough of Redbridge for the last 6 years. My teaching specialism is in Maths for KS1/2/3 as well as GCSE and have been aiding pupils with my tutoring services for over 5 years. Through my teaching experience, I have learned and secured the understanding of the expectations for children, which falls in line with the national curriculum. I work on the learning objectives of the national curriculum and find creative ways to deliver outstanding lessons. Through practice and perfecting my craft, I can also thoroughly prep children for Year 2 and Year 6 SAT's. The ultimate aim of my pupils is to become independent learners by developing their critical thinking. They should become familiar with understanding questions deeply and to analyse their own misconceptions by asking thought-provoking questions. I build confidence within my pupils so that they can question ideas and analogies, but also voice their opinions with evidence and references. I enjoy using good assessment techniques throughout my lessons to enable children to progress quickly and also reflect upon what they have learned. My tutoring style varies depending on my pupil, ensuring that I adapt myself to their needs. I'm incredibly encouraging and motivating towards my pupils and foster a caring and supportive approach to my tutoring so that they feel assured in their own ability. I strive to always to raise the achievements of my pupils beyond their own expectations with challenging and rewarding lessons.

What do you love most about your job?

I love when children have the 'aha' moment when they understand a concept or a strategy that I have taught them. It is a truly heartwarming experience and to be able to influence and mould pupils who are going to be a part of our future generation. I'm always learning and growing within my profession and that is another aspect of my job that I undoubtedly love.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I wanted to start up my own tutoring business to be able to reach as many young minds as I could, to be able to teach and impart as much knowledge as possible. My goal with my at-home tutoring service is to be able to build confidence, independence and love towards learning for all my students.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can provide services online services for chidlren between tge ages of 9 and 16. Any children that are younger than this age band, I would personally reccomend to have their lessons in person as that does that the most impact.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I have been able to keep my lessons online for students as well as taking precautionary steps in order to keep myself and customers safe.
These are the guidelines that I have stuck to throughout the easing of the lockdown rules:
- All surfaces are wiped down with anti-bac or sanitised before the lesson.
- That there is a 1 metre distance between myself and the pupil.
- Pupils use their own paper and pencil. -rest of the resources will be provided for them.
I have also been making sure that I am also taking measures as well, such as sanitising resources and washing hands before and after the lesson.
