Currently working with Dementia Australia. I am also a specialised dementia counsellor. At Find Ur "Self" we specialise in CBT and our purpose is to help you find your inner self. Together we can make sense of how you think, behave, feel and learn. Through Talk therapy you can share your problems and feelings in a very confidential way which can help you deal with your vulnerability in a positive manner. I will listen with empathy to help overcome your issues that may be causing you emotional pain and/or extreme discomfort. I offer a safe space for you to explore difficult feelings and believe it influence the success of the therapy. I am there to support you and respect your perspective. I love helping people suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems or motivational issues. You will find my counselling style comforting and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. In counselling empathy can not be added but comes within a person. So valuing empathy, non-judgmentalism and genuineness enhances the bond between a client and a therapist. I ensure that you will be welcomed with warmth. We have made the initial consultation process simple at the request of my clients. The purpose of the initial session with you will be to understand your reason for needing a therapy, what you are hoping to achieve and any problem you would like to discuss with me. We will also discuss the approaches we can take, which may very well be Person Centred Therapy. If you decide to go ahead with the therapy, we will go through a client intake process, at which point you will sign a client consent form. For the initial consultation, we use zoom or face to face at my West Ryde practice. I do not charge for initial consultation which may take up to 30 minutes. Thank you

FAQs

In Ryde, the key distinction is training and registration. Psychologists complete a minimum of six years of university study and must be registered with AHPRA (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), which means they can provide Medicare-rebated sessions under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Counsellors typically hold qualifications accredited through PACFA or ACA and are not AHPRA-registered, so their sessions are generally not covered by Medicare. Both can provide effective support for Ryde clients. Many people choose a counsellor when they want flexible, relationship-focused therapy without needing a GP referral first.
