Jeff Farmer, MA, LPCC, NCC, Psychotherapy

El Paso

I offer psychotherapy services to individuals 15 and older. I specialize in trauma/PTSD, anxiety and addiction. In addition, many other problems (depression, anger issues) are often caused by trauma/PTSD, either from childhood or adult events. I use a variety of techniques to help you recover from the effects of these experiences, including EMDR (for more information on this and trauma/trauma therapy, see my website: www.mountainwelltherapy.com). I am also often able to help people with many issues outside my specialties; if we feel that I'm not the best fit for you, I can help you find someone else. The vast majority of people who go to therapy say they are helped by it. In particular, the powerful somatic techniques I use to address PTSD are often very effective. Healing and recovery are possible; problems and issues can be resolved. Please feel free to call me at 719-377-4577 for a free 15 minute consultation. I do not work with children or couples. You may want to look for a specialized Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for this. Best wishes to you in finding the support you need.

What do you love most about your job?

I love working with people and being able to help them. I enjoy getting to know each client, and supporting each one to find, create or experience solutions that address their concerns. My work is not just a job for me, it's something I'm deeply committed to. When I see a client being able to overcome obstacles, I'm glad for them, and grateful to have played a part in it.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I wanted to be able to help clients in the ways that are best for them, to help them accomplish their goals. By working for myself and not taking insurance, I find I don't have to try to convince clients' insurance companies that what we are doing is right for them, or, worse yet, be told that I can only provide certain types of therapy for certain diagnosed problems, for a certain length of time. I get to set my own schedule and work only for my clients; not an insurance company, employer or agency.

Why should our clients choose you?

Clients choose me for many reasons. I specialize in trauma and anxiety (and a few other things) and have specialized training in several methods of providing trauma therapy. I chose this specialty because trauma is often at the root of many other difficulties people experience, both physical and emotional. I work somatically, which means I help you understand, regulate and change your own physical reactions to distressing situations. I provide affordable therapy, with special rates for active duty military. I don't share my records or information about your therapy with anyone. I'm pleasant, nonjudgmental, professional and supportive. Each client has their own reasons for choosing me. It's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with and who is able to help you.
