Red Plate Catering

United States

Red Plate Catering started 30 years ago as Seattle Catering Events and has offered stellar menus and genuine customer care ever since. Our customer-first philosophy is the secret sauce that sets us apart. We offer outside catering (as well as bar service) for parties, business lunches and events, weddings, and so much more. Additionally, we are partnered with the Best Western Executive Inn downtown, (just a stone's throw from the Seattle Center with meeting room views of the Space Needle), and can accommodate everything from board meetings to holiday parties and weddings. Having a business meeting in your office and want a hot buffet or boxed lunch for your employees? We do that too! Red Plate Catering is the preferred caterer for the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Port of Seattle, and Mountaineers Club to name a few. We take pride in serving amazing food and care for our customers like family. Our business is to serve up stellar menus hot when they should be hot, cold when they should be cold, on time and as ordered. We understand that when you come to us you want more than food, you want us to make the whole thing EASY! And that's exactly what we do.

What’s your signature dish?

Wow, well it's hard to pick one, but if I had to choose one to highlight let's talk about the Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Cream Sauce, Sautéed Mushrooms, Garlic Yukon Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Asparagus and Potato Crisp, followed up by our Caramel Cheesecake with Raspberry and Mint Dust. How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?

Simple...we listen. We don't believe in a cookie cutter approach. We know that if we're going to get you the right menu, at the right price, and make it easy than we need to gather all the information needed to do it right. Sometimes cost is no object and the sky is the limit. At other times clients come with a budget and we work with them to do everything we can to help them find a great solution within your means.

But there's more to it than just nailing down the logistics and making sure we're at the right place at the right time with the right food for the right number of people. Our Chef is an artist, and as such he wants to pair the perfect menu to the type of event. A few weeks ago I went to him to get a heavy hors d'oeuvres menu for a performance event. I told him how many people it was for but his first question was, "What type of music are they playing?" I hadn't even thought about it, of course you would want a different menu for Jazz than you would for Classical music. Based on the southern creole roots of the Jazz music at this event Sean put together the following menu:

Bourbon Street Chicken Wings with Jalapeno Glaze
Creole Deviled Eggs
Cajun Crab Cakes with Lemon Aioli

Bottom line, we're here to help you make your event more than you could have imagined!

What do you love most about your job?

What I love the most about Red Plate Catering is that THEY GET IT. In a world where customer service is dying, businesses don't answer calls or return emails, and there is a product-centric philosophy that takes the customer out of the equation...Red Plate Catering understands that this business isn't just about food, it's about building relationships and making magical experiences. The product ends with food, but it starts with YOU. If you don't enjoy the process of working with us, we've missed the mark. Other businesses with a cookie cutter approach don't seem to understand the value of listening to their customers, they just want the numbers. Here our customers are more than a number, which makes my job doing everything in my power to make our clients feel cared about in the process of making magic!

What inspired you to start your own business?

We believe that when people gather, meaningful things happen: families are joined, funds are raised, friendships are born, decisions are made. These are the moments that move life forward. Our aim is to make them memorable. Our mission is to support the growth of businesses, communities, families, friendships, and the city of Seattle by facilitating successful events; we do this by providing stellar menus and genuine service. We want to make the planning process as easy and enjoyable for you as possible, so that you can focus on making memories.

Why should our clients choose you?

It's pretty simple, we CARE.

If all you needed was food, you could cook that at home and schlep it to your venue. What you want is someone who can expand your vision, do the leg work, make the process easy, and make food that will blow your mind. And it just so happens...that's what we do!!!
