I started working as a day labourer when I finished school. At first, it was simply to tide me over. Soon, I realised what goes into every building you pass on the street. After a few years, I began taking on more and more responsibility. From there it was a matter of time before I branched out independently. I’ve learnt that employees respect someone who's done the hard work and got their hands dirty.
We're able to handle nearly every construction project you can think of. We take a lot of pride in craftsmanship, as it gives our customers the best value for money. I’ll never excuse work that’s less than perfect, even if a customer is putting pressure on us to get the job finished ahead of time.
Our company offers mainly homebuilding and renovation services. Recently I’ve taken on more commercial building contractors. People in this line of work tend to think big, so we’ve been able to carry out renovations for whole blocks of flats. I’ve got a Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnical Services, specialising in installations. This means I’m usually the one who’ll fit power systems, lighting, and any fire protection systems.

Ryan was friendly and professional when assessing some previous water damage we found in one of our bedrooms, he was quick to respond to the request and had his lovely crew on the job the next day with the room fixed at a really good price. The boys did a very tidy job. Will definitely be using Rakau again for future work

The reason we chose to work with Refresh is that we required a business that could oversee and project manage our kitchen and living area renovation. Sharon was just what we needed. She walked us through the process and kept us informed along the way as to what we needed to do at each stage. Choosing the layout and what we could do with our space was something that Sharon really assisted us with. She listened and offered us professional yet personal advice about what was available and what would suit our needs. As with any large renovation, things don't always go to plan, but Sharon was incredibly flexible and forward thinking, moving tradies' time slots to ensure completion was as close to the plan as possible. We are so pleased with the end result and it's wonderful to finally see our plans move from paper printouts and 3D computer graphics to actually the finished product. We couldn't be happier and it has made our house a bright, modern and well-functioning home, linking the inside and outside areas seamlessly. We have had nothing but compliments from family and friends and we look forward to entertaining in our beautifully laid out kitchen - all just in time for Christmas!!
