What do you love most about your job?

There are many answers to this question. I love connecting and conversing with people. Each person is so unique and I never know what will come up. I love the cycle of service- I give to my clients and my clients give to me. Neither of us is "better than" the other. I have learned so much from my clients over the years and I really value the relationships I have built.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have worked for many years in a variety of agencies. Doing so gave me the opportunity to connect with clients from all walks of life. These experiences also showed me that many of our systems, especially in regards to mental health, are deeply flawed. 2019 was finally the time for me to step out on my own and start a practice serving clients in the best way I know how- client centred, strengths based, and integrated!

Why should our clients choose you?

Clients should only choose me if they feel I am the right fit after talking to me. That is why I offer a 30 min free consultation call. Connecting with the right counsellor can be challenging, and since it will become a very important relationship in their life, I want any potential clients to feel free to ask any questions they need to before proceeding.
I do not offer a "one-size-fits-all" answer. If you are looking for support and guidance while you discover your own truth, tap into your internal knowing, and find the tools that best fit your life, then I may be the right fit for you. I will offer insights, perspectives, and practices, and together we will explore what works for you.
Even though I am "officially" trained in Child and Youth Work, I do believe I can be of service to adults. As adults on our healing journey, we often connect with very young parts of ourselves (aka the inner child), and so I believe my skills in relation to children, can be directly applied to this work with adults. And, I have noticed very little difference in the needs of my young clients and those of my adult clients- we all need care, compassion, empathy, validation, an objective listening ear, and someone to help guide us to our own answers.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes! In this unprecedented time, online is a key offering. I use Zoom for video calls (in the process of exploring other platforms), and am willing to have telephone calls intermittently. Due to the movement and breath work components, it is beneficial for the client to be able to see me demonstrate, and for me to see them practice.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I will work with each client individually to asses their needs for safety and accommodate accordingly.

Counselling FAQs

Your expert Counsellor will be able to advise you on the full range of services available and will be able to advise on what is most suitable. Use Bark to get free quotes and schedule an appointment today.

At your appointment, you will be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions with a trained Counsellor who will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes and find your own solutions to problems. However, they will not usually give advice or tell you what to do. The Counsellor might sum up what they understand you have been saying so that they can help you to form a plan of action.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways. These include:

  • Face to face session

  • Group session

  • Phone session

  • Email session

  • Online through live chat services or video conferencing software

You may be offered a single session of Counselling, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your Counsellor.

You can be confident that any of the Bark local Counsellors listed will give you a reliable and efficient service to help you feel better.

You could look for Counsellors that are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which means that they have met the PSA’s required professional standards to practise.

Before you choose a Counsellor, you could read testimonials and read details of the issues they can help with on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too.

Counselling can help with many issues. These include the following:

  • Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety or eating disorders.

  • Physical health conditions such as infertility.

  • Difficult life events such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress.

  • Dealing with difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger.

  • Sexual identity issues.

  • Divorce.

  • Redundancy and work issues.

  • Phobias and fears.

Absolutely! Many Counsellors provide their services remotely via an online video call or the telephone. Not only is it more convenient, but it's also the preferable option for many people who would feel more comfortable holding the session from the comfort of their own home.
