H-L Therapy

H-L Therapy is a group of therapists in private practice (i.e. psychotherapists, hypnotherapists, counsellors, art therapists, and accredited mental health social workers). We have just joined Bark. We are different from many other providers of therapeutic services because, in addition to a wide range of psychological techniques, our practitioners are also skilled in different guided visualisation, hypnotherapy, meditation, relaxation, and artistic exploration techniques. Alicja who is the Principal Therapist at H-L Therapy is trained in clinical hypnotherapy, which is especially useful in managing anxiety, trauma, habits (such as smoking) as well as many other emotional challenges. Our services are innovative, well-researched, and use evidence-based therapeutic approaches. H-L Therapy practitioners are responsive, ethical, and fully qualified in what they do, which can be verified by their memberships with relevant professional associations. We are client-centered and strength-focused. We genuinely care about the people we work with. All strategies we rehearse in therapy sessions with the clients are simple and easy to apply in everyday life. They are supporting people in regaining control, building confidence, and restoring their emotional wellbeing

What do you love most about your job?

Seeing people regain their confidence, improve, and become confident and self-assured. Observing a big difference in the clients when compared to how they were in their first session. Seeing people who previously struggled emotionally becoming stronger. When they come to their therapy appointment, enter the room, and you can just see it - there is no need for words. You as the therapist can see the change because their whole face is transformed: they smile, their skin has a different tone, and they look relaxed and more radiant. And you know that they are becoming better. It is a privilege to observe this.

What inspired you to start your own business?

From Alicja Weidner / Principal Therapist; H-L Therapy: My professional working experience along with lifelong training in psychology, sociology, communication, and psychotherapy provided me with the knowledge, tools, and experience to support other people, and inspired me to open my own therapy practice.

In 1994 I completed my Bachelor of Social Work and later in 1999 my Masters of Gerontology, both at the University of South Australia. Following my university studies, I worked for over 20 years in various government organisations, providing counseling, therapy, and managerial services. During that time, I stumbled across something, which at that time was not frequently used in therapy: guided visualisation techniques. Now they are used by many practitioners and called 'meditations'. It is amazing how well people are improving - just by using their own ability to visualise scenarios and possibilities. I felt that with guided visualisation techniques I was able to really help people. And this was my first step towards fine tuning my knowledge in various psychotherapeutic techniques. This knowledge was then expanded by further studies in clinical hypnotherapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. In 2015 I have completed my Certificate in Clinical Hypno-Psychotherapy, which was followed by Diploma in Hypno-Counselling. A year and a half later, after conducting over 500 hypnotherapy sessions, I become a Clinical Hypnotherapist and have developed a high level of expertise in this therapeutic modality.

In 2016 I have founded my therapy business and over the years, it has slowly grown and it is now well established. Currently, there are five of us at H-L Therapy and we are passionate about supporting people in achieving their best potential.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because we genuinely care and are here to support people in achieving their aspirations.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, we can via Zoom but not for hypnotherapy, which is only provided in our office at Modbury, South Australia.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

We keep both windows open and use an air purifier which is promoted as being able to destroy 99% of viruses.

All therapists are also wearing especially fitted N95 masks in face-to-face sessions. Hand sanitizers are provided for personal use in our therapy room.

The heater or cooling system is also used at the same time so the therapy room is always warm in winter and cool in summer.
